After Kate Monster says "Lost romance is always painful", Look at rods reaction and listen to what he says. Be careful though because your heart might break a little bit.
Thanks for watching! Johnny was SO AMAZING as Princeton and Rod! I wish I had gotten to see him on Broadway, but even if I had known about the show back then, my mother would've NEVER have taken me! But watching the interviews is close to seeing him in person.
Yup, that's Johnny! He was in Sesame Street first (the youngest puppeteer on record, starting at 16), then got involved in Avenue Q in 2001, during the early days, and was in the original Broadway Cast. That's where the guy from the Disney Company saw him, and asked him to create a show for him. Johnny used to sketch the Sprites when he went with his dad to play rehersals (his dad was a director), so when he found his old sketches, Johnny and the Sprites was created!
lol, if you look for Elmo's World DVDs, you'll find that he was in some episodes (but not as Elmo, unfortunately), as well as Between the Lions when the Sesame Street cast guest-starred on it once (as Ernie), and was in an episode of Jojo's circus as a doctor.
haha awh i love how rod and kate interact. we never see him so much as look at her through the entire show rod is such a cutie, and so is john tartaglia!!
I think a lot of people are like that with the Avenue Q characters. They're just so full of life, and they have so many different traits that we can relate to in our daily lives.
Well, his face changes a little when the moment requires it. Like when Rod came Out. But you are right. He doesn't draw any attention away from the puppet itself!
You know what I just realized? It's amazing how well they can act with their puppets without even looking at them. The actors do all this stuff with their puppets while keeping their eyes on the interviewer the whole time. Puppeteering must really be harder than it looks. Rod: Ehehehehe! THAT'S FUNNY! Nicky: ...Yeah, that's hysterical. XD
It's so funny (and genius) how John doesn't even like change expressions when he's being Rod. It's like, he forces you to put all eyes on the puppet, it's just brilliant!
I love Avenue Q... and I absolutely love John Tangelia. He is so talented and sweet and absolutely epic. But of course, everyone in Avenue Q was and is epic. : D
I wish I could've posted the whole thing, but I could only find this part. But it's okay; Rod and Kate are HILARIOUS!!!!! Every time I see this, I almost choke on my laughter!
A few weeks ago. They got a TON of people in on it; Johnny's playing Pinocchio, Sutton Foster is playing Fiona, Christopher Sieber is playing Farquaad (even though he's WAY too tall!), and Jason Moore, the director of Avenue Q, is also gonna direct Shrek the Musical.
Truer words were never spoken! I still think it's kind of sweet that Rick Lyon met his wife (Tanya) in the Vegas production of Avenue Q; she was playing Gary Coleman!
Broadway World. Johnny and Rod were reuinited for Broadway Backwards 4! They have about a dozen or so pictures together. I've been spending the past week looking for clips, but so far no luck.
Yeah; they're like the mascots for Avenue Q! They've been to EVERYTHING together; Broadway, Vegas, the Tony Awards (both when they were nominated and as announcers), even Broadway BARES!
I can't get enough of the OBC. The only actors I see nowadays (post-Avenue Q) is Johhny and Stephanie. Johnny's show, of course, is redeeming today's kid's shows in my eyes. And Stephanie appeared in Scrubs in a musical episode. (Surprise surprise) Thanks for posting up all these videos. And I had NO idea Johnny appeared in Sesame Street! O_O
lol, the sooner the better! Yeah, every actor has to work hard, but Johnny had to work EXTRA hard, with two characters to play and the puppets to carry, dance with, and so on. AND everyone loves Johnny and Rod; Hugh's popularity is quite so absolute.
Yeah, last month! Look on Broadway World punctuation mark Com for the pictures from Broadway Backwards 4; there's about six different links with maybe 40 or 50 pictures each!
I can't vouch for the current American cast, but the Original American cast was INCREDIBLE! BTW, when did you see Avenue Q in the UK? Were Simon Lipkin, Jon Robyn, and/or Jennifer (sorry - forgot her last name) still part of the cast?
Yeah, then he left in 05 to start working on his AMAZING TV show, Johnny and the Sprites! And I think he was in Beauty and the Beast in 06? Oh, and you were right; he started in 98 or 99; I just checked the Avenue Q book.
I thought they had multiple puppets because puppet clothing changes wore out the puppets? I guess they don't have enough room for all the puppets, and they have Rick Lyon or another puppet builder who can make minor repairs. Good point; it's just a tiny change each performance.
Oh yes! He really was BRILLIANT! So does John Tartaglia (Even though I loooove Jon Robyns Rod and Princeton a bit more!) And Simon Lipkin was AMAZING and brilliant too!
You know, I kind of noticed (but mostly cause I was drooling over Johnny, lol, and not paying attention to the others), but now that you mention it, you have a point. While Stephanie and Rick are kind of expressing themselves only through the puppets, Johnny uses some of his own body movements, like facial expressions, to add to Rod's surprising expressiveness to REALLY bring him to life! lol, you'd think the two were fused together or something!
I don't know why, but guys named John/Jon tend to be better Princeton/Rods than other guys. And Jon R. WAS really good! His version of Purpose is SO beautiful! OMG, Simon was SO HILARIOUS as Nicky! Time is my favorite extra song from Avenue Q London!
lol, oops! Sorry; I have a TERRIBLE memory for names, faces, and dates, and need CONSTANT reminding! But aren't the Broadway premieres on November 8th?
Yeah, I know, with the puppet transfers and the voices and the few times when he had to be both characters at the same time! There are three Trekkies, I think.
no..but i've seen the clips here at youtube..and i think theyre great...theyre so funny, especially rod and nicky. theyre my favorites. i just wanted to see more of the interview and maybe the whole play too , thats all...so could anyone please upload it here in youtube
The two were in a few scenes together, but they didn't interact. He only had both puppets on for the final number/curtain call. If both were onstage, he would be the one that had the most dialogue/singing or had a scene right after. lol, don't we all?
lol, no problem! Yeah, he was on Sesame Street for like 11 years, I think. That's how he got started as a puppeteer. The kids at his high school used to call him "puppet fag" and "Muppet boy" *cries for Johnny's past*, but as we have all seen, "Muppet boy" is a compliment!
lol, no problem!! I'm glad you enjoyed the Grotto Q videos! I got another JATS one coming up VERY soon, to celebrate the most important day in history: JOHNNY'S BIRTHDAY!!!
lol, to quote one of his VERY few love songs, showbusiness has him "bouncing like a rubber ball"! He's practically NEVER unemployed/looking for work; I just wonder who went to who for Pinocchio!
After Kate Monster says "Lost romance is always painful", Look at rods reaction and listen to what he says. Be careful though because your heart might break a little bit.
i love Johnny Tartaglia! he's so cute!
Thanks for watching! Johnny was SO AMAZING as Princeton and Rod! I wish I had gotten to see him on Broadway, but even if I had known about the show back then, my mother would've NEVER have taken me! But watching the interviews is close to seeing him in person.

This made me smile so big what the heck
"Well she's what you call an eyefull..."
"Or a HANDfull! *lol* That's FUNNY!!"
^LMAO
I like when he's screaming at 3:47. Either way, Rod is PRICELESS!!
Rod's breakdown is SO CUTE!! I just wanna give him (and Johnny) a big hug!
lol, if you look for Elmo's World DVDs, you'll find that he was in some episodes (but not as Elmo, unfortunately), as well as Between the Lions when the Sesame Street cast guest-starred on it once (as Ernie), and was in an episode of Jojo's circus as a doctor.

I love it when Kate comes in "Dah dah dah daaah!!" when the interviewer asks Rod if he's getting uncomfortable! hahaha
OH, I just LOOOOVE this! They're brilliant!
Well, his face changes a little when the moment requires it. Like when Rod came Out. But you are right. He doesn't draw any attention away from the puppet itself!

Rod: Ehehehehe! THAT'S FUNNY!
Nicky: ...Yeah, that's hysterical.
XD
LUCKY! I'm waiting till the tour comes to my town, cause my family is a little too far away from NYC. And you're welcome!
It's so funny (and genius) how John doesn't even like change expressions when he's being Rod. It's like, he forces you to put all eyes on the puppet, it's just brilliant!
That is wonderful! lol I wish I had seen it when it was actually on TV!

Ah. Lucky! You got to see the OLC! They were SO amazing, especially because none of them had a puppetry background!
I feel sorry when he's in the Closet, but when he comes to terms with himself he's fine!
lol, say Hi to Rod for me!
Truer words were never spoken! I still think it's kind of sweet that Rick Lyon met his wife (Tanya) in the Vegas production of Avenue Q; she was playing Gary Coleman!
HAhaha! Oh my god! Where do you find these? God, I love this! I wanna see all of it! This is so great, definate fav. :D :D :D
IT´S IMPOSSIBLE NOT TO LOVE ♥JOHNNY TARTAGLIA♥!!! WHO AGREES WITH ME!!!
His Princeton was amazing, too. But he and Rod are LEGENDARY!!
Me, too! Three days until I get to see one of them, though! I'm SO hyped!
lol, he is SO CUTE when he's having a meltdown!
Broadway World. Johnny and Rod were reuinited for Broadway Backwards 4! They have about a dozen or so pictures together. I've been spending the past week looking for clips, but so far no luck.

I don't know if you knew this already but the entire show with the OBC is on google video! =D Hee hee! Happy, so happy!
thanks, i just watched all of it and tried to improve my spanish skills as well...so educational.
lol, the sooner the better! Yeah, every actor has to work hard, but Johnny had to work EXTRA hard, with two characters to play and the puppets to carry, dance with, and so on. AND everyone loves Johnny and Rod; Hugh's popularity is quite so absolute.

I can't WAIT till the tour comes to my town!
LOVE the little fight between Kate and Rod!
lol, these guys NEVER get old!
Hmm. Unfortunately, the tour isn't coming to my town until next January, so it'll be a mystery until then.
I KNOW!! These guys ALWAYS cheer me up!
I KNOW!! He kicked ass on Broadway and his show is AMAZING!!
Np! But I saw the other videos and Interviews BUT ITS AWESOME!
lol, same here; can't begin to count the different segments of conversations I've caught, thinking they were aimed at me!
I don't remember the EXACT date he started on Avenue Q, but I DO remember that he was with it from the early days to Vegas.
I can't vouch for the current American cast, but the Original American cast was INCREDIBLE! BTW, when did you see Avenue Q in the UK? Were Simon Lipkin, Jon Robyn, and/or Jennifer (sorry - forgot her last name) still part of the cast?
Me, too! I've been looking for clips FOREVER!!!
"Make me feel pretty!"
Aww, Poor Rod. I just love him. XD
lol, thanks! I hope Johnny's had a happy birthday!
Yeah, then he left in 05 to start working on his AMAZING TV show, Johnny and the Sprites! And I think he was in Beauty and the Beast in 06? Oh, and you were right; he started in 98 or 99; I just checked the Avenue Q book.

When he first started the 30 minute episodes of Johnny and the Sprites. The 5 minute episodes were out in 05, I think. Yeah, I know! Happy Johnny Day!
Oh yes! He really was BRILLIANT! So does John Tartaglia (Even though I loooove Jon Robyns Rod and Princeton a bit more!) And Simon Lipkin was AMAZING and brilliant too!
He's a Broadway LEGEND!! Can't wait for his return to Broadway in November!
You know, I kind of noticed (but mostly cause I was drooling over Johnny, lol, and not paying attention to the others), but now that you mention it, you have a point. While Stephanie and Rick are kind of expressing themselves only through the puppets, Johnny uses some of his own body movements, like facial expressions, to add to Rod's surprising expressiveness to REALLY bring him to life! lol, you'd think the two were fused together or something!
lol, better late than never! And I'll tell you EVERYTHING when I go to see it!
I know!! And they'd have a REALLY good voice, too!!
He is SO hilariously cute in this one!
Exactly!! Oh well, it's a nice choice to have to make!
Wonder wat the sprites think when they saw Johnny there
Lol! I agree! Do you want me to talk with another charecter / puppeteer? :] I just love the London cast!
YAY!! Thanks for telling me! God, I LOVE the OBC!!
I don't know why, but guys named John/Jon tend to be better Princeton/Rods than other guys. And Jon R. WAS really good! His version of Purpose is SO beautiful!

lol, oops! Sorry; I have a TERRIBLE memory for names, faces, and dates, and need CONSTANT reminding! But aren't the Broadway premieres on November 8th?
is there another part to this video? The interviewer says "Ok, let me talk to Rick for a minute" and it gets cut?
Yeah, I know, with the puppet transfers and the voices and the few times when he had to be both characters at the same time! There are three Trekkies, I think.
You're welcome! Gotta love the OBC!
no..but i've seen the clips here at youtube..and i think theyre great...theyre so funny, especially rod and nicky. theyre my favorites.

4:27 it looks like rod has legs
Disney asked him to do JATS, too! And I wouldn't be too surprised if Pinocchio was a puppet.
lol, me too! Johnny and Rod are an AMAZING duo!
Rod is the most lovable character EVER!
"Darling, lost romance is always painful." You said it, Kate!!
Johnny and Rod are SO awesome together!!
lol, Johnny has the BEST expressions!
Oh, no thanks! The London cast was AMAZING! Jon Robyns was a REALLY good Rod/Princeton!
lol, no problem! Yeah, he was on Sesame Street for like 11 years, I think. That's how he got started as a puppeteer. The kids at his high school used to call him "puppet fag" and "Muppet boy" *cries for Johnny's past*, but as we have all seen, "Muppet boy" is a compliment!
I totally agree! No one does Rod like Johnny.
lol, yeah! And both end up winning in the end!
No prob. Sorry, I couldn't find the rest of the video on the site. I don't speak Chinese. And I lost the URL for the site.
Can you believe the guy who plays Rod is the guy on the Playhouse Disney show Johnny and the Sprites
It's always the small towns. Small towns have all the luck!
lol, who DOESN'T?!?! The two are more lovable than baby kittens (or puppies, whatever floats your boat)!!
They're the BEST!!!
I Love Johnny~!! MY little sister use to watch him on his show!
I keep trying to decide whether to watch Rod or Johnny. Johnny seems to be winning. =D
I believe so. Aren't they AMAZING?!?!
Never fails to make me laugh!
Johnny is the MOST AMAZING!!!
I love that part!!
Out of curiosity, for the wedding, did the Trekkie in the window have something around his neck, like a bowtie? That might make him the third Trekkie.
Yes, because Johnny played both Rod and Princeton.
lol, no problem!! I'm glad you enjoyed the Grotto Q videos! I got another JATS one coming up VERY soon, to celebrate the most important day in history: JOHNNY'S BIRTHDAY!!!
Yeah, that was a cool episode! Who know so many people in Scrubs could sing, lol?
Jon's Rod from Avenue Q London was amazing, too, but he just can't compete with the original Rod!!
lol, to quote one of his VERY few love songs, showbusiness has him "bouncing like a rubber ball"! He's practically NEVER unemployed/looking for work; I just wonder who went to who for Pinocchio!
I love the whole thing!
Nicky seems a little shy today :P
exactley lol he is the funniest and sweetest person alive
