This is an amazing tune.
Both of them are really good! I can't say one is better than the other because I really like them both. xD And yes, the true definition of selling out is getting paid by a company to do or change something. Advertising yourself or promoting yourself is when you pay the company to advertise you and only you. Like band posters and album release commercials. Changing genres is just changing genres. I do it all the time. No one is controlling me and no money is involved.

I don't care if he did crazy death metal after, he still explored a little bit. I bet a musician like Mat Zo respects every genre as well and probably enjoys rock music too, but his favourite is house music I believe, because why else would he love making it? :P

The mainstream: a.k.a. songs that both mat and everyone else likes to hear.
Honestly trance has changed a lot over the years and I have liked all of its evolution because while it's sound changed, the core fundamentals stayed the same. It was still repetitive and still had that ability to make me daydream and look inward. That is until Trouse or trance 2.0 as you call it. It no longer feels the same at all, the rolling basslines are gone, all bpms are slower and it seems to just be completely saturated in reverb. I just cant recognize it as trance. That is all

Understanding music is supposed to make you frustrated. You have to be uncomfortable to make music because no great music come from being comfortable. Anyways, a musician learns to appreciate and respect all music. My favourite genre is blues and classic/hard rock (Pink Floyd/Beatles all the way!), but it's always good to enjoy different music for a change. (:

Oh, nice. I go to York. :P That's your opinion of the Beatles. Their early stuff I would have to agree with you because they did do it to be popular, but after 1964 they focused on just music. Trust me, some of the stuff they did is pretty damn hard to play and well put together! haha.
And I respect the musicians for the music side of them not them as a person. I like the Black Keys music, but I absolutely hate them as people! If Pink Floyd decided to do rap then all the power to them.

I know the music theory too. Here, if I play the C scale but start the scale off with a B and end on B what mode is that? What are all the intervals in a blues scale? I'm majoring in music at York University, buddy. Now, let's bring this back on topic because music theory has nothing to do with this. This is actually about Psychology in music. (I'm also majoring in Psychology.) Everyone is unique; therefore, not everybody is gonna be like you. Respect their music and they will respect yours.

I love trance, but I love Deep House more. I'm a dancer and dance to Deep House. I love Mat Zos new style because its a mix of House and Trance. The only dance I can do to this song is jump up and down or hop around or just stand and feel the music and zone out. Most likely ill just go into a Trance and let go. His new style has the house dancing aspects, but also has the trance anthems and drops. The best of both worlds for me. I'm seeing him on Friday! Now I can choose to Dance or Trance!

Almost all of the big names in trance now got big by making real trance. They got big from the uplifting fans that spread their names and did all the leg work for them. Now they are all collectively taking a shit on the people who got them where they are. Aly and Fila have consistently moved up in dj mags poll every year. When they reach the top should they just change their style? This trouse shit is just more pop friendly, its not for people that demand a little edge to their music.

But back then it was dead simple as long as songs and albums were made and you didn't steal someone else's song parts then you're golden. :P Didn't even need a producer! LOL. My girlfriend is a perfect example, I love her to death but she is a follower. She listens to top 40 music non stop, when TATW still played trance, she wouldn't listen to it. Now she plays it interchangeably with her top 40 crap. You may like this sound and think its cool but that is not what got them their audience. there is a difference between rising to fame and trying to stay relevant.
Yea but EDM is a sweeping generalization, and it was always called prog house, the uplifting sound IS trance, Just because the "king" Djs like Armin and A&B started slowing down their BPMs does not mean they should call it trance. Aly & Fila, now that is trance. You cant change the sound and still call it the same thing. EDM is what you label your electronic music folder when you are DJing not what you are a fan of.
Of course it does, when something gets popular it ALWAYS gets worse and dies out from over saturation and lack of creativity. Especially in 2013. Todays corporate world is raping music, record execs go out and see how they can profit from a subculture and then the subculture gets watered down by fad chasing average people. Back before DJ worship, djs played what they wanted because they weren't so worried about being superstars. Oh yea and trance 2.0 LMAO!! And hip hop is still real hip hop.
