That's why they're called MC. Motorcycle Club. That changed from Biker Gang to Motorcycle Club for that exact reason the lawyer in the video is explaining. That change took place in the early 70s.

No; prosecutors call them "gangs" because they are gangs. This video is another example of defense attorneys trying to play with jurors' minds. This is why so many people don't trust our criminal justice system.
Lol the prosecutor is the one trying to play with you by deliberately pissing you off. The defense attorney is literally just saying that someone is messing with you.
Some prosecutors would call anything a gang if they thought it could get convictions. The way you find out if something is a gang is you look at the evidence, rather than simply taking one side of the argument at their word.
One thing I remember from boot camp was my DI going to this group of 3 troublemakers. "2's a company 3's a gang. Keep this up and I'll report you for gang activity" If you and your friends get in a fight with some other people, an overzealous prosecutor could argue that your drunken brawl was actually a gang activity and add extra charges. This is why defense attorneys exist. To make sure you have a proper defense.
Let's put a stop to legalese.. However.. It can be used as a defense because the common man or woman on the street doesn't speak it and it is in contracts and it also cancels the contract.

"no no my client is not in a gang, hes just in a club."
the defendant is a member of the MS-13!!
If you call them 'clubs' those jurors will know you're blowing smoke where the sun don't shine.
like when we call BUMS , " homeless" people
Or when we call murders peace officers
depends on the situation.

A US court case is a competition to determine which lawyer can lie most persuasively.
This is why i don't ever have to worry about serving on a jury.
"Do you think gangs are clubs?"
"No sir I'm not that gullible."
Did you watch the video? He literally said *not* to call them clubs. 🙄
There are those gentlemen clubs called Crips and Bloods 🤣
You forgot cops.

If I was on a jury and the defense opens their case with "lets not call them gangs, lets call them clubs", im gonna vote guilty every time.
This is why American law has such a trashy reputation. "That's not a gun your honor, it's a shouting stick" "Those aren't drugs, they are happy candy"
They call themselves gangs. The word has a negative reputation because _gangs_ earned a negative reputation.
Fancy way of telling lies.
The prosecutor is more of a defense attorney nowadays, if the criminal is a violent blk. By nowadays i mean the last few generations.
