  • Here is a lovely Record with very scant info on it, The label itself was slightly mistruck blurring it a tad, So the composer is not legible at all, and looking this up on the internet was of little or no help at all! I LOVE the Vocalist, but can only guess who it is! These Crowns were 9" in diameter and produced for Woolworth's Stores, and had incredible sound quality for a budget label that was at times poorly printed! I hope You will enjoy this wonderful record from September 1936!!

The vocalist is Jack Cooper. This is one of the nicest songs bought by the company to fill the b-side - for no royalty stamp payment :-)

I agree it is an excellent tune, better than many of the regular tin-pan Alley songs.
The composer is "Jenkins" but it doesn't help much because, as Alex says" it was one of the bought-in tunes used to fill the B side and nothing is known about most of the composers.
Jack Cooper, the vocalist, had previously been singing for Ambrose.

Thank You so much Mike! It is hard to imagine such a lovely song was just a filler for a B side! Jack Cooper sounds so smooth and polished on this, and the melody is dreamy!

I fully agree this is superb. Jay Wilbur (written with u) led an excellent band that left us hundreds of wonderfully refined recordings. This particular side, recorded in London on September 23, 1936, features a lovely vocal by Jack Cooper. Further personnel included: Jay Wilbur dir; Max Goldberg-t; Paul Fenoulhet-t-tb; Ted Heath and Sam Acres-tb; Cyril Grantham-cl-as-v; Jack Miranda or Frank Johnson-cl-as or Freddy Gardner-cl-as-ts-bar; George Smith-cl-ts/Hugo Rignold and Reg. Leopold-vn; George Malachrino-vl; Pat Dodd-p; Jack Simmons-g; Billy Bell-sb; Max Abrams or Ronnie Guber-tini-d-vib, as well as Charles D. Smart-or. Thank you so much for sharing this gem!

found a scan of the label that wasn't mispressed, apparently the writer is "Jenkins", whoever that is.

Thank You LARGE for the info!!! My poor label was somewhat double struck and with poor ink, so part of the extremely tiny print is not legible!
