      Theres your circle of concern and circle of influence, things you can concern yourself with and things you can influence. Effective people dont concern themselves with the things they can't influence like how dark it is, or let their thoughts run wild, they concern themselves with only what they can influence, or where the two circles interlap.
      I learned this from reading '7 habits of highly effective people' and still struggle to implement it, its obvious that this Callum fella has some version of it down.

  • @37racso
    @37racso Рік тому +945

    Hey Storror! Great to see you guys are pushing the limits and this one was truly a blast!
    Just to let you know - you should definitely get some air quality monitors - the ones that show you oxygen level and the ones that tell you about contamination - like mold for example. Also - respirators! You got yourselves in a pretty nasty, moist room - there could have been black mold which is really no joke. Another thing - walkie-talkies with really good range and maybe some signal boosters to always stay in touch - if anything happened you need to be able to let the outside team know immediately - especially with sketchy shit like this. I hope you always have some first aid kits and such, but if not, this would be a great moment to work out what you might need and practically what you can bring in tight spaces like this one.
    Just to be clear - I'm not saying don't do things like this - quite the opposite! Realistically though you need to minimise the risks - we want you guys to stay safe and learn from past experiences to improve the safety while pushing the limits!
    Stay awesome, boys!

    I think the biggest challenge for you guys will be knowing where to draw the line and quit while you're ahead... :)
    You asked for more ideas where to get stuck. Try being stuck in an empty diving pool (I know an open air one, 5m deep, slick walls, plenty of branches and leaves fallen in from the trees around it), an abandoned missile silo, an empty bulk ship's cargo hold (like a ship for granulates),... Or maybe the other way around: get stuck atop a water tower.
    I've got one more idea, but I'm not sure if that's beyond the line. It would be quite the adventure, though.
    I live in Belgium, and my town/city has a very old tunnel system for 2 small streams that run underneath the center. They join somewhere underground. One runs under the fire station where it sometimes has quite a bit of current. There _should_ be air above the water all the way through, but in case of heavy rainfall, the tunnels could be filled up 100%. Some parts of the trajectory are uncharted (maps got lost in an archive fire) so you would do the city a favor if you mapped it out.
    The thing is, I used to be a rescue diver at that fire station, and among the divers we had agreed that we would not attempt any rescues in those tunnels. Anyone that got pulled in somehow, would eventually come out the other side given enough time, or get eaten by the rats.
    In theory the bottom should be smooth and as far as I know there are no collapses. There are likely vertical shafts in some areas where old textile factories took or dumped cooling water and rinsing water (it's a historical town in sheets, sails and carpet manufacturing, especially the latter gave us international fame)
    The tunnels have been dug up and opened in 2 areas, so there are resting spots or places where you can call it quits. But I think both are after the merger of the two streams. At the exit, the joint stream is only 2-3m wide and about 1m deep in normal weather. We've had a couple of very dry summers where the level even dropped to 50cm. What I think would be the challenge, is to navigate the smaller of the two streams, past the junction and out the first resurfacing. As a way of preparation/exercise, you could do the larger one or the joint part from that first opening to the end of the tunnels.
    Oh, and you may need a plan of escape, because I'm sure the guys in blue will want to have a chat if you were found out.

      @lukearts2954 Рік тому +12

      possibly. But in the moment, it works very well as climbing chalk :) I don't think there was a possible source of asbestos in this one (unless the tube itself), but the silica from the loose masonry that you could see flying around in the lights is possibly as harmful as asbestos. They'd do well breathing only through their noses in such air.

      @lukearts2954 Рік тому +14

      @@mr.gorillaz8449 asbestos is a microscopic fibre that was mixed into a host of materials to make it fire resistant. Cement mixes used for tubes and corrugated roof panels most certainly contained asbestos from the late 40s until the early 80s. The bunker itself was clearly war era, so no asbestos to be expected inside (unless it was redecorated in the 50s, which it didn't seem to be). If the tube was the original ventilation tube, then they should be fine. But if it was installed later to ensure draft in the closed down space to avoid creating a deadly fungus time bomb, then for sure there's a high risk of the tube containing asbestos. With the rubbing and scratching to get through.... Let's hope they won't regret their adventures 30 years from now.

Co2 is denser then oxygen and I imagine it's very possible in a spot like that to be a "pool" of it at the bottom that could make you pass out.
