Nice vlog ... welcome to my Hometown :) Happy to hear you put in the safety tips , it can be quite dangerous at times ... also especially if you keep going to Freshwater Beach ... Cheers !!
The beautiful place of my birth. Played in this tunnel with friends when children. Walked all the way to Freshwater and then my brother told my mum so I was grounded!! Now live in England but will always have "Queensie" in my heart and my blood. This has been a beautiful trip down memory lane. Thank you!!
Leroy thanks for your presentation and common sense approach to visiting the site. The Tunnel was constructed by a Mr D. Bevan over a 3 month period for Freshwater resident Mr R. D. Lewers as a pedestrian tunnel through the Queenscliff headland to form a connection between Manly and Freshwater Beach in 1909. If you need to know more go to "Trove Newspapers", type in (a) "A pedestrian tunnel at Manly," or (b) "Freshwater Tunnel" The date of the (a) "Australian Star" newspaper article is 21 January 1909, page 1 and the (b) "Evening News" article was published 28 January 1909, page 6.
I was surprised to see how hidden this was. It isn't until you are right out on the rocks that it becomes visible. I recently recorded a video tour too: ua-cam.com/video/4fVYfbo6itw/v-deo.html
