Call for UC San Diego chancellor to resign in aftermath of encampment police action

- Students are committed to continue their protests in UC San Diego. However, there were consequences in the aftermath of Monday’s student encampment clearing. Those arrested are facing suspension from the university. KPBS Education Reporter M.G. Perez tells us a group of faculty members are calling for the Chancellor’s resignation.
I agree, the chancellor should resign - for not calling in the police much sooner and in much larger numbers, and for not following through with suspensions and prosecutions.
It also appears a decent chancellor would defund the Ethnic Studies department.
Expel all the kids asking him to go, and fire all the teachers.
Great way to end up without any teachers and far less students.

It's not protesting is the issue. Building an encampment in a non-zone without a permit. It's illegal, structural, unsafe, plus a health hazard. You broke the law and also the sign application of faculty plus students.😮

The UCLA President is being criticized for getting police involved too late while the UCSD President is being criticized for getting police involved at all? Part of the problem is the professors engaging in these illegal protests and encampments and thereby indirectly supporting the rhetoric putting safety of students and other faculty at risk. These professors are to blame.
What can you expect from ethnic studies professors? DEI is bringing terrorist training faculties.

Those protesters don’t have any right to take over university property, set up encampments, and infringe on the rights of other students regardless if you think they are nonviolent. Those protesters refused to vacate and the police has every right to use force to get them out.

I say no to everyone of their demands. Maybe yes to the first one. But no encampment people should be arrested, expelled and foreign students deported. The third police is not a threat not unless your committing a crime or chaos. And any asian that is for this is crazy. Every asian knows the value of education and family.

So much for a protest that is held in peace and respect for those who have lost their lives and still losing their lives.
I get that they are angry at attending a university that has ties with a killer government but protesting in rage and on the defensive isn’t going to help the cause nor bring the administration to the table.
The protest needs to be held in moments of silence with candlelight vigils out of respect for the repose of the deceased.
The way they are going about it isn’t giving Palestinians any justice.
What good does it do to lash out at the police?
Since when do cops back up in fear of protestors when it is them always going in the defensive?
To make the protestors appear criminal and violent so that they get little to no support from Americans.
