Thanks for the video. I used 3 fusions for a job and thought the work flow couldn’t have been easier. Render time for the final output was also fine but that’s cause my computer is decent as you mentioned.
Great comparison Ben. I had the Fusion last year and sent it back because of the workflow alone. Just too complicated for someone who likes to shoot and spend as little time as possible in processing mode. I am also a big believer in the size and tripod mount with the way I use the camera.
The One X looks cool. I have the fusion and love it! I’ve used it to shoot all kinds of theme park rides/ attractions at Disney and Universal Studios posted to my channel. Yes, it takes time to process video but I think the quality/end-result speaks for itself. It’s also handy that it is waterproof without a casing and the 360 audio (when rendered in Premiere correctly) is amazing 🙂.
Both cameras are really close and because of the points that you mentioned at the end (workflow, price, updates...) the ONE X clearly wins in my eyes. Thanks for that video 👍🏼

I was enjoying the look of the fusion. Then when you posted the photo around 4:00 I was conflicted as I liked the overall look of the left photo. The detail in the road and coloring. So I thought well crap. The one x looks better for still photos. Then bamm. You dropped the labels and pulled a fast one. It turned out it was still the fusion I preferred. This is such an underrated channel, Love the Content, I have the Fusion and I’m loving it, mobile overcapture for video is good and I still use it sometimes for Instagram and Facebook, when I post on UA-cam I use the GoPro Priemere Plugins which are good as well, had the Insta for a couple weeks, loved the app, but didn’t like that you had to have a separate waterproof Case for water sports, and the durability is less than the Fusion for me. Can’t wait what’s in store for the Future.
Really nice, but i think you have a lot to improve in your color correction phase. i have a cuestion for you, both cameras deliver stabilized footage right from the camera or you have to use software? Thanks ands greetings from Chile
I wish Insta360 had a case similar to Fusion. The included pouch is too tight and already see some vertical lines over the lens after only a few days of using it.
Interesting.. I haven’t. If it was looser it would fall off more easily, but maybe a zip would have been a good thing. You can always get a third party case if you don’t like it :)

Great video! I agree with your outcome and have decided to return my Fusion for the one x. The post processing takes a little to long for the fusion and enjoy the one x mobile app ease of use. I also used the extra money saved to buy a Hero 7.
Firstly, love your channel- very informative, objective, and I've learned a lot! Since the OneX has better slo-mo, would you say it is better for action videos as well? I like to record white-water rafting, kayaking, mountain biking, and more so would like to know your thoughts on which camera for activities like that. I've found sometimes when you enter shadows/ shade from trees and a decent velocity, my Gopro Hero 5 takes a while to adjust so some of the video will be really dark. I just returned my GoPro fusion after using it for 10 days. Fusion's color and dynamic range are so good that I wasn't able to return but their fusion studio's performance made me return the device.
Thanks Ben. I have the One and am tempted to upgrade to the one X but think I’ll wait 3-6 more months to see if they get better both with software and firmware.
Loved how you keep switching their position left to right and right to left! Everything was looking good for one X until low light came! Is One X still in beta version and can we expect better low light performance with future updates?

Hi Ben, Thx for another great video. I’m looking to buy a One X 36O camera for my next trip snowboarding, as well as your eCourse to give me a good head start. Does the course provide any pointers wrt camera setup for shooting in the snow (and particularly low-light snow conditions like japan)? I’d be interested to know how you’d set up a One X for the snow (ie HDR in/off, log node, etc) Thx, Chris
Hi Chris- no snow situations unfortunately.. but if you head to the video course page you can see a trailer up top which shows you exactly what it’s about 👍
Excellent video! I ended up deciding to return my unopened Fusion and got the One X instead. Although the One X app could be improved, as it is right now, it's so much fun to use! It would be great if they brought all of the app's features to the desktop software!
Got a Fusion camera earlier this year, it was great! So much fun just using it for casual shoots :) but my laptop did not agree with the Fusion Studio; after doing some things to make it work; unfortunately never did; so I got the hero 7 Black instead! it's funny cause I remember the stabilization and video quality looks so much better with the Fusion; but I'm still happy! Great comparison video Ben, love watching them!
Damn 3:40 you got me... The slowmo was also surprising. Thanks for the comparison. I think I still prefer the fusion. I can't get over the red lens flare on Insta360 cameras. Why can't they fix this??
I already own a GoPro hero 8. Would it be best to get the fusion to keep the color scheme and video quality? Fusions are now cheaper then the intsa 360 one x
Ben Thanks! Leaning to the One X. Can u color correct with a mobile workflow?? What Android apps would you reccomend? Thought about also getting a GoPro 7 Black for Water activities. You think I could manage a mobile workflow with that as well? Thanks again!
nice video (as always) with very detailed explanations. I WILL be upgrading from my MiSphere this year and the QooCam the Fusion and the insta one X are all contenders. Right now I'm weighing up the Qoocam versus the Insta One X and the One X is winning.......
Thank you for this video comparison! I am new to this world and had been looking at both cameras as potentials. I am looking to use it for recording family holidays and also on my street and dirt bikes. I’m not too fussy on the colours being a bit off, so, I’m thinking the One X will be for me. Cheers!
Ben . . . What software can GoPro Fusion images be edited on now that Fusion Studio is discontinued? I just had it working on an older Mac OS version, but now it won't even open up. Have you heard about this? I know I have to upgrade but I was hoping to get a little more life out of my Fusion. GoPro lets me down again.
Shooting lots of motorsports content I think I'm still hanging with the fusion. Already invested in the mounting systems and not enough benefit to be changing. Now that is until I hear more from you about this Insta360 stitchless workflow in Premier. That sounds like a gamechanger.
I can't believe you missed the waterproofing on the gopro. I'm looking for a 360 action camera for drifting and not being afraid of water is a big factor
@@Dimanichtderechte you just added 60€ of cost to the onex, which is currently already 30€ more expensive than the gopro. Plus, having to deal with an add-on
There are always many things missed in a comparison, the more important factor is image quality as so few people shoot near the water. Also easy to look that up 😉
Hey Ben, very nice job. It reminds me I need to get my old Theta S out of mothballs. It is interesting how difference the sharpness looks for the One X in one-shot and auto-HDR. On your first scene they both look similar at 1000% but at the Arc de Triomphe the One X looks a lot softer. It would be interesting to know if that is down to something in the auto-HDR proceissing or maybe the longer exposure time for the over exposed shot. It could be an interesting test to try something similar with the One-X sitting on a solid surface so that your cool tandem 360 rig could be ruled out. Love the channel, hope that is not too nerdy, it looked very bright so I imagine the long exposure was still pretty fast (and you are doing a real-world test), but I think it could be interesting to narrow it down.
Thanks Brian! Those two examples you mentioned are different as the first is video and second is photo.. resolutions are much different and HDR lowers the clarity slightly 👍
Very cool. You helped me decide which to get. Since i use primarily a mobile work flow editing on my ipad pro, looks like it’s the insta 360 for me! When did the insta 360 one x come out? Last year? Do you think they will come out with a new version this year? Thanks!
Ben Claremont hey thanks! Hmm. What improvements do you think they will add to the next model? Or what would be on your wishlist? I am gonna nab one now tho. Don’t think I can wait until September. Spring is just about to start, and life is happening now. Too much fun to be had to wait. 👍🏼
I'm new to trying to learn 360 and tiny planet which I fell in love with. My question which may sound stupid, with the 360 cameras do they have to work with your phone or do they work alone. Thank you for your time.
Can you explain tips on how to keep the tripod out of the shot? I just ordered a zoom h3-vr for spatial audio. But I know the the Zoom is going to show up in the shot.
Thanks Ben. New to 360 video, need it for my hospitality business so I can easily capture and upload video. I do not have a fast computer, nor time to learn video editing software. Your great comparison video tells me I need to go with the Insta360 One for great video quality, ease of use and available apps right on my phone.
First, GREAT review. Being a guy who owns almost 30 GoPros, but not the Fusion-(just too pricey) this was a great comparison to what will be my next 360 camera. The one thing that bugs me about side by side comparisons is that if I saw either shot just by itself, it would look absolutely great to me. The subtle differences only seem to be significant if you are comparing otherwise I don't think I'd notice an issue if I was just looking at the videos and photos of one camera. I would probably be oohing and ahhing at how beautiful the shots are. Once again, great job.
Reminds me of going to the store to buy a TV. All those screens showing the same program was great but a bit overwhelming for me. I could look at just about any of them on their own and think the picture was great and never worry for the rest of my life.
When you reviewed this, did the ONE X have HDR? (I am reading it may have came out after the release via a firmware update?). I'm thinking that may have helped a lot with the colors and washout.
Hey nice vid.
Suggestion: keep the same camera on the same side (left or right) throughout the video. Sorta confusing as they flip-flop throughout
Thanks, although I don’t think I did that
Omg
It was confusing though… this comment is underrated

Excellent video! I ended up deciding to return my unopened Fusion and got the One X instead. Although the One X app could be improved, as it is right now, it's so much fun to use! It would be great if they brought all of the app's features to the desktop software!
Thanks- yes that would be great
Got a Fusion camera earlier this year, it was great!
Thanks Michael 👍
Damn 3:40 you got me... The slowmo was also surprising.
Thanks for the comparison. I think I still prefer the fusion. I can't get over the red lens flare on Insta360 cameras. Why can't they fix this??
It’s to do with the lens design.. any fisheye lens that big will attract them
I already own a GoPro hero 8. Would it be best to get the fusion to keep the color scheme and video quality? Fusions are now cheaper then the intsa 360 one x
what stand did you use to mount them and what is that cross plate they are mounted on?
Just a generic one I found on amazon
Hi ... how câmera is better for virtual tour ? which one do you recommend among all 360 Cameras ?
Ben Thanks! Leaning to the One X. Can u color correct with a mobile workflow?? What Android apps would you reccomend? Thought about also getting a GoPro 7 Black for Water activities. You think I could manage a mobile workflow with that as well? Thanks again!
Thanks- I’m not on android but yes you can color correct video files in the app. You can definitely do everything mobile.
nice video (as always) with very detailed explanations. I WILL be upgrading from my MiSphere this year and the QooCam the Fusion and the insta one X are all contenders. Right now I'm weighing up the Qoocam versus the Insta One X and the One X is winning.......
Nice
One X for sure , 👍🏻
👍
another question, in 2019 how big of an improvement have you seen in the xone? is it still comparable to the fusion or which camera has become better
Nice review helped me a lot. :D
Glad to hear it
Great video bro. Thank you for that
🍻
Thank you for this video comparison! I am new to this world and had been looking at both cameras as potentials. I am looking to use it for recording family holidays and also on my street and dirt bikes. I’m not too fussy on the colours being a bit off, so, I’m thinking the One X will be for me. Cheers!
Good choice!
Great video, I have a question though, is GoPro fusion still good for 2024?
Ben . .
Will report more soon!
I can't believe you missed the waterproofing on the gopro. I'm looking for a 360 action camera for drifting and not being afraid of water is a big factor
rapzeh the one x is waterproof too, just need to put on an accessory for 60€
@@Dimanichtderechte you just added 60€ of cost to the onex, which is currently already 30€ more expensive than the gopro.
Thanks!
Cool- it came out in September, which is when they usually come out with new models :)
Ben Claremont hey thanks! Hmm. What improvements do you think they will add to the next model? Or what would be on your wishlist? I am gonna nab one now tho. Don’t think I can wait until September. Spring is just about to start, and life is happening now. Too much fun to be had to wait. 👍🏼
Thank you for the excellent video!!
No worries
I'm new to trying to learn 360 and tiny planet which I fell in love with. My question which may sound stupid, with the 360 cameras do they have to work with your phone or do they work alone. Thank you for your time.
Hi Donna, no they don’t.. you can use them independently, however phones make it much easier to download and edit your files.
@@BenClaremont Thank you very much.
Can you explain tips on how to keep the tripod out of the shot? I just ordered a zoom h3-vr for spatial audio. But I know the the Zoom is going to show up in the shot.
You can’t hide anything underneath that isn’t the width of a selfie stick
Thanks Ben. New to 360 video, need it for my hospitality business so I can easily capture and upload video. I do not have a fast computer, nor time to learn video editing software. Your great comparison video tells me I need to go with the Insta360 One for great video quality, ease of use and available apps right on my phone.
One X. Enjoy!
Hello, could you tell me the recording time 4k? thank you
One X: 30 mins, Fusion (doesn’t have 4k): 90 minutes or so
First, GREAT review.
Thanks Pete- yes I agree but the side by side also puts things in perspective!
No it didn’t.. so it will be even better now :)
Hey man where do you get your rig? For the 2 action camera what is the name?
I forget but got it on amazon
I always thought that the Fuaion was better until this video thank you
No worries 👍
thanks for comparison
👍
