I’m definitely going to be installing this numeric shifter and cables for my birthday which is on June 18th 1999 the June and the 1999 numbers are important because the build date on my 986 Arena red Porsche Boxster 5 speed is 07/99 a month later from my birthday that’s why I say those numbers are significant and special to me anyway so I will be doing that for my birthday

I just did the same on my 996 Carrera this weekend. What a huge improvement!! I did have a couple of issues though. 1. It took a while to adjust the cables, I couldn't get 5th & 6th gears, then I couldn't get reverse.Reverse still takes a lot of effort though. 2. the plastic cover that goes over the cables doesn't have anywhere to clip into, so is only held on by the loose fitting screw that hold down the ashtray. it rates around in there a bit which is annoying. Did you encounter any of these??
I’m installing cables tomorrow but no that plastic cover won’t fit the new shifter. Did you see the cable install video from Numeric? It shows the detailed cable range adjustment on the gearbox. Hopefully it helps. Is your silver shift lever at the highest or middle height
@@TheEddysGarage Yep, I saw their video, but it brushed over the plastic cover, so didn't really explain what to do with it. I've put mine on the middle setting, which seems to be what most people do. I may have get some foam backed tape to attach to the plastic cover to stop it rattling around. Reverse seems to be getting a little easier. Either that or I'm getting used to just slapping it into reverse.
