This man made me buy the 7745. Worth it.

I have to agree with you. Both of them are iconic, but 7740 is better because of no wire going threw the entire train and compatibility with awasome 7815 and 7819. 7820 looks also very good with 7740.

Yep, many more options for expandability

7745 looks like a tgv but with a cab control car instead of top and tail working. very odd, but fun.

Two iconic trains. Nice comparison video here 👍
I personnally perfer 7740 because, as a kid, I wanted this train so bad. Was true for 7745 as well, but to a lesser extend I guess. So my opinion is emotion driven. However, 7745 has more details (love the baggage compartement in the passengers car) and offers more playability I think (if we don't take the addionnal cars for 7740 into account of course).
I didn't own them as a kid, but it's never too late, and they are now part of my collection 😄
    Thanks for all work !

Thanks for the nice comment! Definitely a hard choice between these two sets because they're both so well known. Congratulations on owning a copy of each!

My vote goes for 7740, it had even expansion possibilities (yellow-red post wagon, sleeper car) during the second period of the gray era. The 7745 always gave me the idea of a standalone seller...just because it seems a TGV, without any possible expansion. But both are great sets.😊

Love both, but 7740 is just that little bit more iconic imo.

Yes 7740 is the 80’s icon… of the two trains, it’s the one that I decided to buy, with 7760.
But 7745 is also exceptionally good, I recoloured my 60337 train to red: ua-cam.com/video/qpeWAHSYHFo/v-deo.html. and it ended up looking very similar to 7745!

Nice, you should make some videos about your 12v trains! The 60337 looks good!

@@Reker1million I was going to do one on the level crossing at some point, and as I live in the UK, I've made some Lego UK crossing lights to go with it!

Nice, they look very clean and probably a lot cheaper than the 12v posts, ha. Did you ever make a crossing with them?

@@Reker1million not yet… but it is on my list of things to do (which seems to be turning into a very long list!!!!) I might just combine them with the 11v crossing.
My Lego city will eventually be a bit confused though as I have 12v, 9v, PF & PU trains!!!!

Reassembled my 7740 which had been at my parents place for 40 years - motor gears seem broken. Lights and wires missing .
Instead of buying a motor i found the 7745 missing figures, instructions and box. I kind of have them both now 😅

I would guess that the 1 and 2 on the 7740 locomotive are to denote the number 1 and 2 ends. On real locomotives with two cabs, maintenance crews need a way to tell one end from the other. I think I prefer the older 7740, it's a more flexible design, which you can add to.

    • @Reker1million
      @Reker1million  Рік тому +2

Yeah the 1 and 2 would make sense. Surely they don't stand for first and second class, it's an engine 🤣

If you do want to use 7745 with other coaches or wagons, you could always build it as the alternative steam locomotive model.
