Lawrence is a traveling merchant selling various goods from a horse-drawn cart. One day, he arrives at a village and meets a beautiful girl with the ears and tail of an animal! Her name is Holo the Wisewolf and she brings bountiful harvests. She wishes to return to her homeland, and Lawrence offers to take her. Now, the once-lonely merchant and the once-lonely wisewolf begin their journey north.

She doesn’t look as scary as I expected,she actually looks like a giant Shiba Inu lol would’ve preferred a more menacing form for us to understand how Lawrence is feeling

Feel like part of it is the angles picked, but part of it also feels intentional. Like they wanted to convey that while she's a wolf, it's not in her nature to be a violent creature. In the original she looks more like a proper wolf and the lighting helps sell her being a legitimately terrifying threat.
Here I get the feeling they were trying to convey more the idea of Holo being less threatening as a whole. Were it not the situation one would probably want to give her a hug rather than run in fear.
That said, a giant wolf/Shiba Inu who can rend stone walls with their claws like it were dirt is still pretty terrifying to think about. It looks silly, but it's still justifiable how scary she actually can be.

@@FelemothI agree with everything you said except the first part. I believe since she looks closer to a shiba inu she thus looks closer to a wolf than anything. The original gave me the impression of a fox more than anything. But I agree that the sharper angles, details, and lighting of the original definitely made the original seem scarier.

The Wolf Transformation had great Animation and the Music is awesome. Kevin Penkin is the GOAT. Amazing Remake so far

Considering that Shiba-inu's are 3% wolf, I am not surprised at how she is just trampling over those poor peeps instead of viciously biting into them, shaking them so violently that their spines break and limbs go flying; like what a Shiba does. I know. We have 1.

No. Only knocked them out of the way, just like in this version. Holo restrains herself since she's with Lawrence, especially after the conversation about travelling merchants getting attacked by wolves, where she basically admitted to having killed (and probably eaten) humans before.
That’s not a wolf!! That’s the most OVERSIZED Shiba I’ve ever seen in anime!!! 😂😅

It’s interesting how with the new reboot, Holo’s wolf form looks cute and looks like a giant Shiba Inu. Whereas the previous anime, Holo’s wolf form seemed more frightening.

looks like the animators decided to use a different species of wolf this time instead of the standard gray wolf variant

Was the anime remade or something because it came out in the early 2000's.
When I first saw the name. I was hoping it was gonna be a new season to the anime

Fools dod they teally think they could take down Holo when she's like this.
The animation of this show looks really underwhelming.
Man, I'm a bit conflicted. I want to enjoy and appreciate the remake, but the original scene was so much more impactful for me. Though technically the animation is an improvement since the original anime was like 16 years old, but it still feels lacking, or perhaps I just had too high of an expectation.
Overall still happy we got a solid remake though~
