The name originates from the sentence mimikyu because it mimics the form of 1 Pokemon Pikachu and so like so it's called mimikyu because it mimics the appearance of Pikachu because real parents would kill you from the shock and we know this because a trainer was walking home late at night and a gust of wind took off mimikyu's rag disguise and they died from shock

Mimikyu is probably right up there with Sylveon level knowledge. They’re pretty smart not enough to be high level presiege human or Yamask level smart, but tehy’re smarter than the average pokemone enough to comprehend human activities and what appeals to others.
Mimikyu isn't evil, don't judge a cover by its book. Video said when anyone tried to look underneath, it attacks. Also Mimikyu didn't kill the trainer it was a gust of wind. Edit: Just doing research-

Theory: Mimikyu’s true form is based on a glitch Pokémon, specifically MissingNo.
Both begin with “mi” and have three syllables. Mimikyu is based on the word “mimic”; MissingNo. duplicates items and copies other sprites. The forms it takes varies from pixel clouds (one of which is yellow like Mimikyu), Pokémon fossil skeletons and also the ghosts of Pokémon Tower in RBGY. This would explain its typing; MissingNo. is a literal ”ghost” of the game’s programming as well as looking like one. It wants to be accepted, trained and loved like a “real” Pokémon, so therefore disguises itself as the most recognisable Pokémon possible, the series mascot itself. Additionally, MissingNo. corrupts game data, which can be seen as represented by its eldritch appearance. Comprehending Mimikyu’s true form is said to disturb and kill people, much like a glitch can alter or destroy a save file. This could suggest that Mimikyu might not just cover itself for aesthetic reasons, but also to protect humans from its corrupting effects/players from its corrupting data.
One last thing: most encounters of MissingNo. use a cry based on Male Nidoran’s cry. Maybe it’s just me, but if you compare Nidoran’s cry to Mimikyu’s, they seem to sound very similar...

In the game it stands straight but after 1 attack it has an ability where it doesn’t take damage thanks to the costume taking the hit but then its costume becomes busted around its neck and it won’t work anymore

I always felt horrible for Mimikyu. I always thought they were adorable and in the only Pokémon game I ever played (Pokémon sun) Mimikyu was my favourite team member. Even if I never actually met them other in the real world, they were always so special and fantastic. They always tried incredibly hard to win and their abilities always saved my ass multiple times in championships and bigger battles. I loved all of my team but Mimikyu was very special to me. Makes me sad that in the canon, they live such sad lives. It's so unfair especially since the reason it has to hide is because it's natural born appearance is able to kill which isn't their own fault at all.

Just a slight headcanon with this, I've always believed that the measurements for Mimikyu were just for the body itself, underneath the costume. Which would put the costume at 1'04" tall.

I just wanted to say that I love this series so much. I’ve always loved the Pokedex because it’s really the only way to get in-game lore and information for non-legendary Pokemon, and seeing it come to life is really fun. As for potential suggestions, I’d love to see some Pokemon from Gens 3-6, although 5 and 6 might be hard due to the lack of Pokedex entries.
