It looked rubbered up before the feature started. At that point it's more about finding the best line that works for the cars setup.

Could be. If you look from the start of the race, the cushion is still built up top, so they possibly could not have done a lot of track prep before the feature. Usually an indicator they let it ride and with all the laps ran already from all the classes ran caused the rubber up early.
