there's a reason they all sound similar and fans of one are most likely fans of the other. there's nothing alternative about the sound ! they can't be alternative if there are literally a dozen other young female artists who take from the same breathy, atmospheric vibe that is trending right now. --ex ; lana, lorde, melanie, halsey, allie x there's NOTHING wrong with liking pop music! just because it's not "alt" doesn't mean it's bad. smacking the word alt in front of a pop song/artist that isn't played on the mainstream radio doesn't make them more cool or interesting. it's still just pop. like what you like... but honestly, if telling your friends you like "alt pop" artists like halsey, melanie, 21p, and troye sivan makes you feel special.. then keep doing it
... no.. uh... for some reason you think that plain pop = dumb. you see you're just further proving my point that you think people that listen to what they call "alt pop" are people that think they're very smart and superior to others for finding something "different". you probably get satisfaction off telling people you like "alt pop" alt pop isnt more special or deep than real pop. just because lorde is "deep" doesn't make her alternative to anything there are plenty of pop songs that take on heavy topics. plain pop music is capable of having substance (like Lorde obvi... adele, . kesha has praying... ) plain pop music can be deep. just because it's pop doesn't mean it's made for dumb people. seriously.. what are you an edgy 15 year old? why do you insist on bringing others down to prove your ugly, elitist idea. im actually a huge fan of lorde and have been for a while. i know and have heard a lot about each of the songs on melodrama, and i can relate to a lot of her experiences... i know how deep the songs are. some songs even spell it out for you lol. i just dont think there's anything alt about it... literally that's all LOL what does the depth of her music have to do with it being alt
.... listen to yourself.... how am I the pompous one. you're LITERALLY saying that i'm dumb and lesser, and pop is for people that can't comprehend songs with emotional substance. HOW AM I THE POMPOUS ONE
the way lorde has influenced the pop music industry without even being that much in the limelight is truly phenomenal. she smartly addresses herself as a pop artist while messing with album and song structures, changing arrangements to her likeness, making instruments be more than just instruments, having poetic lyrics etc. in a nutshell she does things some already have done before but while shes drivin them to the mainstream by simply calling them pop. she never denied pop and is ok w being called pop, something most of her "alternative peers" that are just mediocre music snobs think of as bad and inauthentic
As I'm revisiting this song, I just realized that Lorde's albums have reflected some of the turning points in my life. When Pure Heroine was released, I was a struggling college student at that time, filled with angst and fear what's gonna happen after graduation. Then four years passed, I was healing myself from a very awful heartbreak, and I was listening to Melodrama. Now, I just feel like a new person. I'm in the new era of my life and I'm so much forever grateful to my sun, who gave his warmth on me. And I'm actually enjoying Solar Power and can't wait for the rest of the album. 🌞🌻
This song is so fucking incredible, I'm totally in love with it. When Lorde start to sing I feel I'm in paradise, her voice is so good, i have no words. SHE IS A QUEEN!!!!!!
something interesting about lorde's level of music quality is that it's timeless. absolutely no one could tell if this song came out in 1978, 1999, 2008 or 2017
Lorde's songs are the ones that the kids with amazing taste in music will listen to 50 years from now and will scoff at the dumb contemporary artists of the their time lol
I'm a guy and I love this song! I remember accidentally discovering this amazing album. The production got him hooked, and the lyrics are delivery were just icing on the cake. A favorite of mine, for sure!
Such a beautiful song she really is a living prove that you don't need to have the biggest vocal range to make someone cry happy dance feel melancholic through your voice and music. JUST WOW!
Her song and voice give me shivers down my spine. I love how powerful her voice is, and how at times it's very delicate. She's the main reasons why I write my own songs, and she's the main reason why I still want to feel love, no matter how damaging it is in the end. Thank you Ella, for giving me life when I had truly given up on it.
This song needs much more recognition, Lorde is as deep as a 1000 years old writer and as new as a fresh breeze. Whatever music I’ve heard, there is no one like her I could see, I love her so much. COME BACK SWEETIE ❤️
I’m going thru a huge depression right now but this song in some way is helping me. She’s great and always loved her! Thank you for helping me thru this Lorde
I love the mic she uses, and I really love her choices music wise. The beats are super sick, but never outdo her voice. She's such a true artist, outwardly and with her music.
Powerful lyrics So dark and beautiful voice So talented and everything she does is special Her connection with her fans Her preparation for her eras is something rarely we see these days of music
