Great video! Thank you. Horses definitely bond with their owners. I grew up with horses and bonded strongly with one more than the others. When I was sad he would put his head one my chest and pull me in for a hug. When I needed to talk to someone, he would stand there and just listen. He also protected me from a boy that was throwing rocks at me. He ran him off. His name was Chico. He was an incredible soul and will always have a place in my heart. ❤

I rescued from Saddlebred Rescue and I couldn't be happier with her. With Morgans you're lucky if you can find non-showing horse for under 15K. Saddlebred Rescue has very reasonable adoption fees and they have everything from trail horses to show horses. SBR Betty White and I are going to our first show together next month. She's a Unicorn. 🦄❤❤

We got our daughter's beautiful TB mare from a 'rescue' and she is a lovely horse. She was a broodmare for several years and had five foals! She hasn't lost her figure, though. 😅 star was fairly green as a riding horse, but my daughter does Pony Club and together they jump courses around 70-80 cms and go trekking and all sorts of fun things. Star has her forever family ❤ 🐎

This is right on time, and you are not kidding about the prices people want for their horses. I heard folks were rehoming due to high feed prices, but I would have thought horse prices would be lower in that case. Obviously, I know nothing about economics! 😂
I’m looking for a horse, and just discovered what appears to be a really nice rescue in my area, so I’m going to check them out. So far, the private seller ads I’ve seen are out of my price range.

I have never spent more than $500 on a horse.
My first horse was a 20 yo Arabian. The owner had died, and they just wanted to find a good home for her.
My second horse was a Chincoteague pony that was given to my daughter. He had an absentee owner and they were tired of paying board. I had him for 18 ((?) years. Just lost my him last year. He was in his 30s.
I've bought 3 from auction. Still have 1 of them, a Welsh//Arab cross.
Was given a Welsh pony that I used for pony rides. When I stopped doing them, she was given to my a friend that taught a lot of children.
I lost my Arab about 2 years after I got her. She colicked. Ended up taking her to New Bolton. Found out that she had a tumor in her small intestines and several feet of dead intestines. I was devastated.
Shortly thereafter, I learned about a large herd of Arabians that had been seized by the SPCA. I was going outside of the area where they wanted the horses to go. But, because of my story, they let me get one.
I have seen pictures of her from when they were first seized. She looked like a walking skeleton. She was not my first choice. The one I wanted turned out to belong to someone else that had no idea what was happening to their horse, not really sure why not. But, I had a dream that I got a gray horse, and named her Misty.
She was neglected and untrained. She didn't even lead well. The adoption fee was $500 and they would have lowered it for me.
As to whether or not I would adopt again? Yes! I missed out on another rescue almost 20 years ago. Not gonna go into it, but I felt like the system had failed the horses.

Great video. I went the adoption route and it was quite the experience. I was totally screwed over but I got a great horse with lots of baggage. The rescue lied about his true age, his experience level, how much he was neglected and abused, etc...I made the promise to Jake that he is staying with me and he is now semi-retired. I have since got a foster horse named Applejack AJ for short and he has lota of abuse in his past. But, he is finally learning kindness and love.
When it comes time for a new horse after Jake and AJ, I will be extremely picky about who to go with and probably look at a better rescue than what I did.

We adopted an OTTB from New Vocations. 8 yrs old liver chestnut gelding. He has absolutely bonded with my husband and I. Definitely some challenges, but it makes that bond even stronger. He was a rehab project, so had to take things very slow, but so worth it. We also did our homework and made sure to check out all his vet records and had our vet clinic review them as well, just to make sure my riding interests would be appropriate for his level. We ended up with an amazing horse and a good friend ❤.
