Fuckin love Interpol!!! Im now starting to love Idles!! Just discovered them from a recent binge watch of Peaky Blinders. Everything of theirs is new to me and I love it. Seeing them live in October!!!!

yeah i noticed a lot of their earlier stuff sounds very interpol influenced
I like how Idles have this version of them that they want to put behind them. Honestly though I’d prefer they embraced it, it part of their journey and still very much Idles.

Nah, sings like the guy of Maccabees or Bombay Bicycle Club... I think they found a true Identity that also likes to the people since "Brutalism"... I think indeed they don't play songs before that album. It seems like they try to in the "indie fresh scene" but idk... Talbot is more like an angry beast who screams you "love yourself" ...just.. they had to live this to notice it

wow, this sounds like something off off Foals' Holy Fire. It's amazing, but damn they've come a long way, weird to think this is the same band that made Joy and especially Brutalism.

Saw Idles support The Fall in Bristol last night - they are a brilliant live band: The Fall fans seemed to like them!

New fan here the past 3 months or so. This band is so versatile and could be poised to take over the world.
I would say when they say they hate this record, they mean they hate what it means and what it sounds like. A lot of what they found together was commonalities in the sounds they love from other artists. I think they'd prefer, going forward, to be their own machine rather than 'sounding like Interpol' or 'oh this song very much so sounds like Sleaford Mods' ya know? Though their messages in some cases are the same, I can see why they particularly don't like this record, even Lee said it. "They didn't have direction, they thought after releasing welcome they did it, but they as a group came together and found direction within one another." I love this record and I love the meaning, especially as more of a "Chill" Idles record. I fully understand why they'd feel some sort of hate or resentment towards this album though, artistically they've stated they found their space in Brutalism.
Who am I though? it's your interpretation and don't take my word for it.

The video~eh. The song, isolating, lonely, excruciating. Now singer is sober, he's a performer for all lucky to see them. Idles, Crass, the Subhumans, Descendents, Jawbreaker (b4 Blake's tragic voice change), X~Ray Spex (PS would need a replacement obv). That's my fave dream concert. Oh, Joy÷ too & yes, Interpol. Just a humble human dreaming away..no harm meant.... ✌️

There is still an anger to this track which bloomed into something else with Brutalism etc. I know they are not a fan of this era but embrace the journey from where you begin is what I think.
