In this #HowVaccinesWork video, join baby Jack and his parents as they explore how #germs make your baby sick and how #vaccines can help babies’ immune systems fight them off.
Babies encounter thousands of germs each day through things like the food they eat, air they breathe, and things they put into their mouths. These germs can multiply in a baby’s body and cause an infection. The baby’s immune system will fight back by creating antibodies and infection-fighting cells, which help protect babies from illness.
Babies are born with immune systems that can fight most germs. But there are some dangerous diseases their immune systems cannot handle. That’s why babies need childhood vaccines to protect them: vaccines help a baby’s immune system fight off these germs and provide long-lasting protection from 14 serious diseases.
