You need five years of total experience to earn your CISA certification, but you can pass your exam first and earn the experience afterwards. A Security+ certification (among others) can be substituted for one year of experience. College degrees can also be count as a year of experience. I have done zero ISACA. Am I missing out big if I have focused comptia certs over these?
The ISACA certs are incredibly valuable and usually carry a bit more prestige than the CompTIA certs.

I recommend working with the current version. The content is still good and you'll be able to leverage that certification to better your career.
