- After The Struggle Hill Climb in 2022, I set myself the task of seeing how light I could get a disc brake road bike for the National Hill Climb this year. In this video you can see a bunch of the components that went into building up the bike to make it even lighter!
I've set up a Patreon if you'd like to help support the channel for less than the price of a fancy London coffee and croissant: / chrishallrides

Love the level of rabbit hole digging youve done. This alone shows your passion for hill climbing
Glad you enjoyed it! Just wish I was better at them haha
Sick Stuff
Hi Chris, just wanted to say ive only recently found your channel and ive had a thoroughly nice time the last few days going through your back catalogue !
Thanks so much for following and watching! Appreciated!
Love this video! Well worth the wait for it! Massive fan! Managed to get my disc climbing bike to 6.3kg and this is just next level 😍
That’s a great effort too! It’s a fun and fascinating process
Afternoon Chris, thats one helluva weight saving. Creative thinking goes some way to removing weight on a bike 👍. Chapeau to you for that 👏. Have a great weekend !
Absolutely! It was a fun process
Loved the attention to detail, it's lighter because it doesn't have the black paint. 👌
🙌
Tobias @ridesofjapan would be proud Chris…
Love the build dude 👌 light weight builds are the best, but my they get expensive very fast , build up a serotta ottrott into a hillclimb machine but 2by so I can use it for everything , definitely been a fun project finding all the lightweight parts, look forward tonthe next episode
Thank you! Yeah really interesting process right? I had to pull in some favours but enjoyed the learning curve
@ChrisHallRides searching for all the part was definitely then fun bit for me , my frame and fork isn't the lightest being half ti , wheel aren't super light either but I love the look of them , so went on a super light components mission , ee brakes , sram red 22 , darimo bars stem and seatpost , light weight cables chain and chainrings , c59 saddle , carbon works bottle cage lighter tyres with tpu tubes , with all that its still 6.4kg 🤣🤦♂️ could probably drop a kg buy changing the frame and wheels but I like them to much , but definitely a fun thing to do , alot of time spend online researching stuff , very enjoyable and a learning curve for sure
And the lightest of all... is the wallet after all this 😁
I pulled in a lot of favours
Wait a second… Now that bike is as light as my rim brake bike 😮
Crazy right?
Nice!
Thanks!
How are you feeling about the overfast axles? I’m thinking of buying as well but was hesitant.
I don’t think I would use them day to day personally
I reckon that cost about £1 a gram saved! 😮
wati an xtr crankset only weight 365g?!
Correct. Everyone thinks they’re heavy but they aren’t
@@ChrisHallRides Dang, do you have a link to which specifically? All of the information I find available is only for 450g XTR cranksets.
You never said the make of the cassette. Can you let us know cheers?
It's a Shimano one but a mish mash of different ones to tweak the gear ratios
Thanks Chris
Love all the content 👍
It’s only money or sense 🤷♂️🤙
Thanks for watching

yeah mate luv the content of all it and jealous for the most part haha 🤙 Will be keen to see what’s on your calendar for next year thanks CH 👍
This is cheating if using a mtb crankset with a child chainring. 😜
No it isn’t
