omg, i always hated probabilites because i cannot wrap my head around it. i managed to dodge it through high school and engineering school but always felt like i have to come back to it. since i think your videos pack a lot of knowledge i have confidence that i will finally overcome this challenge.
I'm certain you can understand probabilities. Just make a chart that says when to use which formula. Then list the formulas. I cover all of that in one video which I hope helps
@@derekbanas tbh i i didnt put the effort to understand the basic stuff so when it was time for harder probabilites and statistics i was completely lost. now with your video your explanation is very concise i understand it a lot better. i kept notes of all the definitions and formulas so that i can have them ready when i need them and also be sure that they will stick in my head.
At 06:10 , I think you switched the equation for Probabilities of dependent variables with independent ones. P( A|B ) = P (A n B) / P (B) => P (A n B) = P( A|B ) * P (B) Now if events are dependent P(A n B) != P(A) * P(B) ( = only when independent ) Which implies P( A|B ) != P(A) P( A|B ) = P(A) and vice-versa only when variables are independent.

Dear Derek, I just wanted to say thank you. I've started watching your videos in 2014 when I needed someone to teach me Java since my school refused to do so. Thanks to you I knew more of the language and in general I was able to understand more complex ideas. I have just started a class to prepare me for University. One of the courses we have in that class is Geometry and the teacher started by teaching us Group Theory. I enjoy that subject a lot and I was wondering. Wouldn't it be wiser to teach that first a bit more in depth rather than skimming over it in a minute or so in this video? All in all I enjoy your videos a lot and I watch them even if I am not interested in the subject you are teaching. It is very nice to know that for what I am currently studying I have a video of yours to refer to if I can't understand the lectures.

In the poker probability, if you pick all 4 suits of the value you want 4 of a kind of then you don’t need to multiply by 4. There are 13 ways to pick all the 4 suits of the same value. The result is 13 X 12 X 4 = 624 so the result is correct but you multiplied by an extra 4 making your result 2496.

P(A|B) = P(A) & P(B|A) = P(B) is to verify that it's independent, not as written in the slide.
Besides, I think P(1 or 2 | ODD) should be 0.33 instead of 0.5.

In the poker probability, if you pick all 4 suits of the value you want 4 of a kind of then you don’t need to multiply by 4. There are 13 ways to pick all the 4 suits of the same value. The result is 13 X 12 X 4 = 624 so the result is correct but you multiplied by an extra 4 making your result 2496.
