      I thought at first Golden Freddy maybe was just there visually, but then why would he weigh anything when getting in the car? That part didn’t make ANY sense and if you look at the bottom of the screen when he’s in the back it’s so bad looking with the CGI trying to make it look like he’s scrunching his legs up or something but just registers as a mangled mess to the eyes when it’s shown quickly

    • @SarahM-ku4bu

      Nah the goofiest part was the whole movie. It felt like a joke the whole time. it was an entertaining movie to watch but not what I was expecting nor what i initially wanted. Why in the heck were they so chill??? they could clearly kill Mike at so many parts yet they didn't even try. I only watched it one time, but as an actual fan of the games I didn't really get much enjoyment sorry. I was never really into the books as they were all over the place and every series had different lore. the movie was a 8.5/10 for me.

    • @HunnieB_vtuber
      @HunnieB_vtuber 7 місяців тому +16

      @@SarahM-ku4bu that’s generous. I would say a 6 for me. It wasn’t as gory as I hoped and wanted, but I get why because he wanted to appeal to kids and parents. But there’s big plot holes, not enough Matthew Lillard or build up to him being Afton. Like even if Scott was like okay alternate universe in the universe, I mean there’s still not enough for me to justify bringing Matt on as the villain for like 5 minutes even though I knew he was. And there are plot holes. The acting was good for what they were given, the props and costumes are great. Cory and Matt did well. Cory’s part was funny I think.
      To answer your Q, They weren’t really chill with him though. They did attack him. But the only reason they didn’t kill him was Abby. However, then why didn’t they kill him before Abby showed up? You can assume one of them was the little brother then I suppose? I kind of assumed the cupcake was garret tbh because he’s the littlest. But idk. I know in the games it’s assumed that it’s the spirit of Susie’s dog, which is how Afton lured Susie in (chica). Or it could be that because Mike was dreamscaping or whatever and could talk to them that they saw use in him somehow because he could speak with them? I’m not sure.
      I wish the stories of the kids would have been expounded on as well so we knew who was who. My guess is the blonde is Freddy but he doesn’t control all the animatronics he’s just the ring leader. But then he’s seen also as foxy? Idk that was a bit all over the place. I wish they talked more about like the bite of 87 and actual lore hits as well. Idk I know Scott himself wrote this, but it just seemed… thrown together? I don’t hate it. I liked watching it, but for me it’s like if it didn’t exist, I wouldn’t be sad. I can get more lore crunch and exposition in Wendigoons FNAF iceberg video than this. It was kinda disappointing but still cool to see the animatronics come to life and it be a movie.

    • @exode7414

      I think the building feel apart at the end because the spirits were really angry because of William

  • @applemgee1235
    @applemgee1235 7 місяців тому +125

    Correction, at least 90% of filming with the animatronics was with actual animatronics. Suits were used for stunts as to not damage the very expensive animatronics. I believe the scene where Bonnie falls when building the fort was a person in a costume. But stuff like them preforming on stage, walking around and stuff like that, it’s actual animatronics

    • @SpeedyCheetahCub
      @SpeedyCheetahCub 6 місяців тому +3

      Well, the performing on stage was also the people in the suit. Generally speaking, they used real people for the complicated motions and animatronics for simple motions. So most of the performing, walking, and interacting with Abby was done with people inside. However, Foxy was only an animatronic, and there were many scenes of the other three that were also animatronics.

    I genuinely loved the movie, and I didn’t just turn my brain off. Everything I saw was connected to either the lore, a reference, an Easter egg, or something else that made me even more excited. The animatronics, while not really scary, they felt so intense and in those moments they convey the weight of these giant robots incredibly well. Those kills were all so badass, and I was surprised that they even made the scenes with the cupcake share some of that intensity.
    The scenes where we see more of the personality of the animatronics was so fun, and the pillow fort was just a really cute moment. I didn’t think it detracted from anything because the animatronics are just confused kids at the end of the day, and only do bad things when instructed by Afton.
    Everything I saw, I could respect and understand why they did it. Though there were certainly things that I would change to better convey what they were going for. However, I don’t think that making this movie more appealing to general audiences would have done it any favors, and even if they did, the general audience wouldn’t even appreciate it and just focus on the other things they didn’t understand.

    The whole scene when they built the fort, I really liked it, it felt like a stoner comedy lmaooo. It’s goofy and lets fans have they’re little “we’re hanging out together finally” but it also builds anxiety. You know they want Abby, so having them around her and hugging her had me on edge. You know they are evil but Abby is playing with them because that’s how they lure they’re victims.
    I’ve been watching Markiplier’s Playthru, and even he says the reason why we love the games is because as much as it is scary it’s also funny.

      Same! I loved the fort scene, and like not to victim blame Mike but I fully feel like if he set some boundaries early on and treated the animatronics like "humans" it would've worked out better for both of them. Like when he's cleaning up after the break in personally I would've been talking to myself and the animatronics😂 like "hey guys I'm sweeping up the glass and shit, don't kill me pls, idk how we're gonna replace the glass in the games but I'll figure it out" if that makes sense

    As a huge FNAF fan, this movie didn’t disappoint at all. The staying true lore, the hidden details, the references, the characters and the animatronics were all amazing. It felt very nostalgic to me because it feels like I travelled back to 2014 when people had no idea about the franchise. The UA-camr cameos as well were amazing not only with Cory and MatPat but also the ones on the Employee Of The Month board. Some scenes might be a bit goofy like the fort scene or the pictures being memories but when you rewatch it, you pick up on some hidden details that lead to those plot points and I love that. Btw, most of the animatronic scenes are remote controlled with tech inside, not worn by crew a few times.
    Relating to the pictures influencing the animatronics, in the beginning of the movie when Mike talks to the doctor she says that pictures and images are the most important tool before we learn how to speak and young children use drawings and pictures to express themselves and that’s how they grow and the souls in the animatronics only do what they do because of the drawings on the wall because they forgot their memories and they’re just kids. They don’t understand what they’re doing. The main drawing is a yellow rabbit with them smiling and when the souls see that, they trust the yellow rabbit aka William Afton and they will follow him because they trust him like a father figure. For the fort scene, Abby is the first kid in 20 years they have scene, a new face and they just want to have fun with her because she’s a kid like them so there’s that background. Now the reason why they wanted to kill her and make her like them is because, most likely not confirmed, William Afton knew about Mike having Abby and he told them, you wanna have a new friend, here’s something to make her like you so you can have her forever so he offers them the springlock Ella suit from the books.

    a thing to note from someone on the book adaptation territory. Often times, when studios are adapting books, it's the hardcore fans that are the most excited to see them. And often times, the book lovers are disappointed because the adaptations change a LOT of the original source to cater to the general public, and then the general public isn't that impressed with it either bc it turns out to be a half-hearted mix of new and old that don't really go together. So I'd much rather studios stick to one idea or the other. Either you're just doing a whole new story in the universe for the gp, with some little nods to the fans, or you stick to the original content for the community. Trying to please both sides without fully commiting to either one just results in a mediocre end product

Mike actually does his job of checking the lights and closing the doors. The power goes out and he has to hide from Foxy under the desk. Freddy's has training tapes that the movie's version of Phone Guy records messages on for Mike. He doesn't get the whole lore dumped on him by Vanessa, but figures it out on his own. The animatronics actually sound like they're full of heavy metal parts. In a lot of ways, it's better than the official movie.

    The pacing was a little slow and I’m only assuming Venessa cleaned up the blood and bodies at Freddie’s idk about the aunt lmao. I totally forgot she even died by the end of it. But golden Freddie appearing in a house is exactly what happens in the 4th game. So he can do that.
    Also mikes family, the 3 kids is a parallel to Williams family who he killed, some indirectly. So its apart of the lore.
    Abby=baby
    Mike: mike Afton
    Garret: maybe Gregory, which would add so much with Vanessa storyline considering she was trying to kill him in security breach.

    (Spoilers if you haven't watched yet) here are my thoughts on a better like story but perhaps it would ruin some of the lore: Remove aunt all together, don't need her arc to motivate Mike, he is raising a sister on his own that is motivation enough. He already lost a brother, he should be SUPER motivated to take care of and protect his sister. Perhaps Afton has been keeping tabs on them (connection to Henry perhaps?) and being a mentor of sorts, trying to "help" him get jobs but also causing him to loose each one leaving Mike to take the job at Freddy's in desperation. if we need to keep dream sequences have each time he falls asleep he gets glimpses of each kids kidnapping story but you can't see who is doing it until the end. Mike wakes in a panic locked in the chair and needs to escape only to hear his sisters screams and on and on. BUT that also would probably push it past PG-13.

    I went into the theater with my brother (we're both 33), knowing he was pretty blind to the series. That helped me enjoy the film from a blank slate, enjoy easter eggs, and answer what questions he asked in the car on the ride home. Overall, I will get the DVD and watch it again, because I love practical effects, and they worked so dang hard on every prop, set and animatronic. Even if you don't care for the story, games or deep lore, the movie was very pretty for a Halloween or Blumhouse fan to drink in.
    I did love hearing both of your perspectives, you pointed out stuff I didn't even think of! Like the 'Mike could get framed!' plot hole, and 'I always come back!' Where'd you go, Will? I assume the pillow fort scene is so the robots can convince Abby and Mike that they can be trusted, so that Abby might be more willing to stay with them? It's a cute but nonsensical scene, clearly for childlike wonderment. The blond kid who talks the most is sinister and haunts Golden Freddy. Original Freddy is the kid with the light-colored top hat and light striped shirt. I assume the blonde boy wasn't cosplaying as his favorite character when he passed away, which is why he's not dressed up for a party like the other four.
    Of course there are flaws abound, because every movie has them, and Mike does stupid things every other minute, the aunt is supposed to be a villain to keep us off Afton's trail I guess? It didn't work, but maybe the door is open to do a FNAF movie based entirely on the third game so William can be *fleshed* out more.

This game holds a special place in my heart, and I actually think that the animatronics in this were more realistic than the games because you have to remember that they're just kids tapped in the animatronics. and the only reason they attacked in the games was because Mike supposedly looked like Afton and because they didn't go that route it made sense they didn't in the movie. Bro, not even the games were scary. What are you talking about? Other than FNAF 4, the others are not scary at all. And FNAF 4 is scary only because you get jumpscared with a very high volume when the whole game is near silent compared to the other ones. And you say darker scenes, even in the games or the book trilogy, there was never a very dark scene in sight. In the games, only FNAF 3 minigame where William gets springlocked has blood in it. Plus, many children love FNAF and thus, it means there are very few 18+ years old OG fans. I absolutely enjoyed the movie and loved how they tried to give more characteristics to the animatronics because in the games, they only attack us and we never have the chance to see them act differently. As mere children, for example. We never even interact with them. And them being friendly around a child makes perfect sense. They wouldn't want to kill adults while a child is right beside them, would they? Also, if you read The Silver Eyes Graphic Novel, you would know that there wasn't much blood when William got springlocked. So the end scene of The Silver Eyes and the movie was the same. That's why I loved it. It was great to see at the theatre.

    It was also confusing that every time the kids were shown in the dream sequence, at least one of their faces was blurred out. It wasn't always the same one. The movie never ever explained that or even commented on it.

    Spoilers Below!!
    Another thing that I think was a big mistep was the fact that William tried to kill Vanessa. I get that it's supposed to be a slightly different canon to the games but that is a massive shift in personality for William Afton. He is shown, especially in FNaF 4 that despite being completely irredeemable he cares for his children deeply even if he doesn't for other children. You could compare the movie scene to how he wants Michael to travel to Circus Baby Rentals or whatever it's called in Sister Location to save Mike's sister but he only does it as a way to desperately get his daughter out. I like this two sided version not the comic book villain we got in the movie.
    Still loved Matthew Lillard in the role though

      @@cursedGalataea THANK YOU! So much of the novels, the Fazbear Frights, and the games emphasise over and over again that William is just straight-up, old-school evil. He's never cared about children, especially not his own. He literally beats Elizabeth in the final novel when she's a kindergartener trying to show him the award she got at school. He killed Charlie out of jealous for Henry *when she was three years old*. William never cared about kids. Ever.

    I feel like the movie works if you look at it like a multiverse thing and this is just one version of how FNAF happened. Just a little something for fun. (Though i wish we had more creepy stuff with the kids and Afton. Like maybe when Mike was doing his dreaming stuff caught glimpses of the deaths of the kids and not just his brother's kidnapping. But whatever.)

    “What if he finds out his brother is in a different animatronic in the second movie?”
    The fans: …That’s the set up dude. They play My Grandfather’s Clock right before the voice spells out “COME FIND ME”. That’s a glaring reference to the Marionette from FNAF2. Garret is pretty obviously possessing the Marionette. His story is virtually completely unresolved so that pretty much has to be what’s next.

    My quick notes/thoughts..
    1. Just because the aunt looks well off doesn't mean she was.. she could've blown all her money on fancy and expensive things and now she sees Abby as a way to keep up with her spending/lifestyle habits..
    2. What if Garret was the first victim and will be the puppet in the next film?! -- In turn, making Mike's character and the missing little brother/trauma part of the storyline more important and a sort of "laying of groundwork" for the next film..?
    3. I agree with most of the same thoughts, feelings, and hopes for future films. I agree that future films should be made more eerie and horror-like. But I also liked the film for what it was. So we'll see what happens next. 🤷‍♀️

    I think the Afton "I always come back" is more of a Scream reference. Its no secret that Matthew loved the role and wanted to insert a callback. He cleans his knife just how Ghostface does in every movie and one of the other lines was a dramatic "ill be back" so it could be a half and half thing

    Movie lore is always different from game lore, so the lore is different in a lot of ways in the movie. And I personally think that William Afton/Mathew Lillard in the movie for a short amount of time was a good thing since he is mainly known as spring trap once he gets spring locked. So in the second and third movie we are going to see a lot more of him, and a lot more gore in general. I will have to admit it wasn't as scary as I was hoping for, I can agree with that. But it definitely will get more intense with each movie. But the animatronics did have programming to move on their own on a basic level. foxy was the only one who had to have more programming to the point they couldn't put it as a suit as well, Bonnie, Chica, and Freddy were both animatronics and could also be worn as a costume. Just like it would have been when the restaurant was open in the game perspective, because the animatronics were able to move around give kids food and just genuinely walk around (as costumes like Matthew was using the golden Bonnie suit in the movie) And move on their own as animatronics with the programming up on stage, which were the times they 'costumes' of the animatronic had the endoskeletons in them.
    But overall, I love seeing their perspective anyway, they always make it funny even when it's something I disagree on which I love. Stay leaky everyone ❤

    I’m currently at 20:05 and “I always come back,” thinking from a regular viewer putting pieces together standpoint, Vanessa did say that her dad always comes back to kill people who knows about fnaf’s secret to keep them quiet. okay one thing I will mention (while not really a fan of it myself) is that Golden Freddy appearing at the house CAN make sense because it's very suggested in the games that he's just entirely a ghost and not a physical animatronic. so he kinda is on his own rules. but I totally agree the rest of them jumping around like that was odd

    TO BE HONEST BOYS- yeah I didn't watch y'all for a couple a weeks for the sake of not wanting spoilers to the movie. But I literally watched it Friday night since it's now after 1 am CDT Sunday. And yeah you guys had other episodes that didn't mention FNAF but I just wanted a clean no social media period experience leading up to me finally seeing it. I would say I actually LOVED the movie- Idk what rating I would give it other than the fact that I have been a fan of the games since I was in 4th grade and now I'm 18(graduated in May this year). I turned my brain off and watched it like most of the fans- but started crying a few times because how Abby was scratching that itch on how she treated the animatronics bc it would be the way I I would have treated them bc all they are, are just children. And they didn't deserve what was given to them by Afton. I feel like in the movie they kinda just threw bits and pieces of all the games into it regardless of the layout being the first game. Now what made me scream WTF through my house and everyone hearing it was the fact that Vanessa said she was Afton's daughter💀 when we all know it was Elizabeth who got killed by Baby. So I think Scott was kinda screwing with us(as we all know he loves doing that.) I will say Bonnie giving the thumbs up when he fell was actually funny, I laughed at that out loud cuz I thought it was cute and it was kinda satire🤣. I was confused at the beginning when we saw Matthew Lillard as whatever tf the name was at first bc I was like, "oh I thought he was gonna be Afton" so it threw me off(I think that was Scott's intention) and then saw him at the end. I love that they showed him twitching as he was getting crushed within SpringTrap...but where's the blood pooling like in the third/fourth- can't remember. But the timeline made no sense(we all know Scott always made it so the timeline made no sense so he could see us Gremlins as his fans really fry our brain with figuring out the lore.) But I took note at the beginning of the movie when he was proposing the night shift that he wanted him(other than killing his brother and connecting the dots of recognizing the name) was bc his oldest Son's name is Micheal so maybe in his own sick delusions it was like him being reminded of his son. But it also makes sense bc Afton had 2 sons and a daughter- well he killed(Fredbear/golden freddy) his youngest and then killed Elizabeth(Baby) his middle son I think just those 3 characters aligns with the real storyline even though they have VERY different names. That's my overall review and comment on the movie. So I think I would give it a 9/10 bc so many things were just weird and REALLLYYYY got screwy. And Ethan, you're right the dialogue was awkward- there were lots of captain obvious points- I loved Mike's sarcasm when he asked Abby if the animatromos were ghosts and she said "mhm" it was just the sarcastic "ok." That kinda made me giggle bc it's all very relatable. I kinda liked the bite of 83 recreation with Max getting chewed in half. But honestly those guys kinda got what they deserved- bc it really made me mad on how they disturbed the kids' peace bc WHY TF. And disturbed their peace so VIOLENTLY so I laughed as I was watching them get killed cuz it was very well deserved. I kinda felt it was unfair for Max bc she didn't wanna be any part of it. So yes 9/10 coulda been a teensy🤏🏼 bit better with dialogue and storyline but such a good movie that I would recommend😌🤌🏼

    watched it with my 11 year old, we enjoyed it. it's corny at times, there's some slow bits and plot holes (did golden poof the aunt's corpse away? did they come home to her dead? how'd they explain that? lol) , but ultimately, as an adaptation of the games it was pretty faithful and the attention to detail in the sets and puppets is incredible. As a mostly family friendly (ish) horror movie it worked well. I don't mind that it's kid friendly, fnaf is one of the horror franchises myself and my son have bonded over and it was delightful to be able to sit and watch the movie with him. He was having a great time pointing out the easter eggs I didn't notice. It was better than I anticipated it would be. I wouldn't say it's a masterpiece of theatre, but considering what it COULD have been, i'm pleasantly surprised.

    The thing about "you can't hide the monster because the audience already knows what it is-" First of all, not everybody watching it knows. Second, there's two types of suspense: the audience doesn't know what's going on and gets entertainment from trying to figure it out OR the audience knows what's going on but gets entertainment watching it play out because the characters don't know and the audience doesn't know how the characters will find out or how they'll react.

    So I saw it in theaters and I am not joking you there is a bite shown on screen and all of us whether quietly or not so quietly went "was that the bite of 87" and despite not knowing anyone else there we all just started laughing. There was a loud approval and some clapping when Mat Pat said the thing and there was a collective eye roll at the "twist". Would have been a better twist if they didn't reveal it in the casting announcements BEFORE THE MOVIE RELEASED but even if you know nothing of the lore of the games, it's not super surprising because the hints are a little in your face. Most all of us stayed til the movie credits were completely done just in case there was a teaser or code or something like that and there is. We all went dead silent at the atari style spelling, trying to spell it out in our heads. It was a great experience and given that I live in a fairly small city, there were a lot of older teens and a couple of older kids seeing the movie. It was nice to be surrounded by people that also love this dumpsterfire of a series!

    While their review doesn't matter because their opinion is their own, some of their criticism is completely flawed...
    -"i want the jumpscare sound, i want foxy singing from the game" -Both of those things happened
    -"he does have to flip the power thing but its not in his office" -It quite literally is
    -"bonnie kills someone in the broom closet but now theyre gone and so is the blood" -It's specifically implied that Vanessa cleaned it up
    - "golden freddy teleports into the house but they need a taxi to get back" - ...Abby can't teleport guys
    Jack also says he felt like there was too much of the animatronics which is so baffling... A movie called FNAF is about the FNAF gang? He also hoped for more fan service but disliked the "its just a theory line". You can tell they don't really understand what they're criticizing, especially when Jack mentions the Cory scene with the Balloon Boy toy doesn't make sense. Why does it have to make sense? Why are we suddenly applying real world logic to this funny mid credits scene? That's like saying why Thanos doesn't just teleport to dodge every attack, or why the Avengers didn't just destroy one of the stones... Because the answer is simple; it's not fun! It's fiction for a reason!
    Again, their rating is completely fine, but this felt like criticism just for the sake of criticism.
    PS: Jack says he was confused on which kid was Foxy... which was one of the most obvious things in the movie. The next movie should feature Subway Surfers gameplay so these content creators can pay at least a bit of attention.
