The throne room segment in the son of the forest hints to this i think - its based on the fisher king, in which asking the right questions would heal the king, however in this instance I think the emperor is hinting what the "right question" is based on the items in front of him which i think point to resurrecting Sanguinius, the chalice of blood = Red Grail, the golden spear = telesto and i assume the golden candelabra represents hope. I also dont think one of the first major characters the lion meets is dante...
I think the Lion said later in the book that if humans gained hope from believing that the emperor was a god then He's fine with that. Also the up coming Cypher book will add insight as to the death/resurrection of the Emperor.

If Chaos is gone, and humanity no longer needs the warp or the emperor, then he could slowly start the imperial truth again. So it's not the be all and end all if people worship him for 10k years, considering he spent the previous 40k years as a normal man.

While the next returning Primarch is likely Russ or the Khan, I think a story arc of Corax would be intriguing because in a sense he’s an Avenging Angel with power openly obtained from the warp while remaining loyal. I think he’d be a challenge for certain elements within the Imperial orthodoxy to accept but as intimated by the Emperor redemption seems possible for someone like Moratarion so why not acceptance of Corax in his current state?
I like the idea that the Emperors shattered psyche sent various loyal subjects to enact wildly different plans. Cyphers plot to kill the Emperor, Russ’ quest to heal the Emperor, whatever Valdor is doing and the star child being his reincarnation.
The connection between the lion and the emperor is strong the emperor can better impart information to the moons has he has a better grasp of ethereal things whereas gulliman is too methodical and logical he can’t comprehend it. yes this is me gloating as a dark angels fan but isn’t it interesting how the lion indirectly was able to clearly communicate with the emperor in that forested sub dimension for eh warp that looks like Caliban. Where as gulliman got mixed messages and faced the equivalent of a star.
Johnson was flexible enough to participate in the Unremembered Empire during the Heresy when they believed the Emperor had fallen so as with Gulliman I suspect after a period of adjustment Johnson would pragmatically deal with the situation rationally.
I can't help but wonder how the Lion would react to The Emperor implying that he wasn't His son, just another tool. I think he would take it harder than RG.
What if we get the brothers at odds. Guilliman thinking to restore the emperor in the material world, where The Lion thinks the emperor must die in order to be resurrected. Both agree the emperor needs to return but can't agree on how it needs to be done.
I would love a Lion the goes on a Forest walk and runs into the Soul of Sanguinius in the warp. Such great dialog and insight the Angel could give the Lord of the First to fight Chaos and the Tyranids.
Guilliman "embraces" the Imperial faith to empower the Emperor. It i said "the road to Hell is paved with good intentions". This could not possibly good wrong in a universe determined to have the worst possibly outcomes made manifest. There was this guy Goge Vandire, while he did it got ego and power, Imperial Faith was used as a weapon against the Imperium. Maybe Guilliman would be better off acting as a control valve for the faith and not the controller of the faith.

I think the idea is the creation of a anti-chaos pantheon, much like what Sigmar did in AoS to combat Chaos. The Emperors rise to Godhood is suspiciously happening at the same time as Ynnead's awakening. The Emperor and Ynnead will be the first 2 Gods of the Pantheon, as the Eldar and the Imperium are growing closer due to Guilliman/Yvraine and Eldrad being friends, Ephreal and Kyganil, and many more seem to be bringing the Eldar and Humanity closer together.

One thing that never made much sense to me is the Imperial Truth. Not that it is a lie, but the notion that the Imperium was built on atheism and no deity worship and that both Robute and Lion were shocked to see Imperium in 42nd millennium. Take everything from the 30K, the way they look, the way everything feels, how everyone behaves - it is extremely religious and worship oriented, nothing atheistic in it really. The whole setting is extremely gothic, which is extremely religious and worshipy in the first place. So I don't by the shock of Primarchs and their surprised Pikachu face. Big E knew EXACTLY what he was doing... and you guys knew as well. Don't play dumb. Literally every move they made was to enshrine and worship the Emperor. Going from that to just adding a god adjective to the whole worship game is a very small step.

I think what the Emperor and the Imperial Truth was designed to do was starve the Chaos Gods of their most potent form of gaining power, yes they gain power from emotions, but they gain even more from worship, sacrifice, rituals and the like. The Sisters of Battle and others have shown that Daemons, and Chaos itself can be overcome by simple mental strength, and will power. Also my personal theory, is that the Emperor wanted to take humanity into the webway, then use the Astronomicon to call the Tyranids to wipe the Galaxy clean, then humanity would exit the webway and repopulate the galaxy again, free from the warp and Chaos
Imagine RG tries to ress the Emp while the Lion tries to kill the Emp to help him ascend. A physical clash between them both....epic. of course the Lion wins. Think Lion kills RG and the Emp but the Custodes cut down the Lion and his Legion. Humanity is saved at terrible cost.

Tbh I think Lion should support God Emperor.
One thing that never made much sense to me is the Imperial Truth. Not that it is a lie, but the notion that the Imperium was built on atheism and no deity worship and that both Robute and Lion were shocked to see Imperium in 42nd millennium. Take everything from the 30K, the way they look, the way everything feels, how everyone behaves - it is extremely religious and worship oriented, nothing atheistic in it really. The whole setting is extremely gothic, which is extremely religious and worshipy in the first place. So I don't by the shock of Primarchs and their surprised Pikachu face. Big E knew EXACTLY what he was doing... and you guys knew as well. Don't play dumb. Literally every move they made was to enshrine and worship the Emperor. Going from that to just adding a god adjective to the whole worship game is a very small step.

The Emperor's and Primarks's ideology is flawed. Even if humanity denounces faith and go full Tau mode, the warp gods will still exist. Other xenos will worship them, Khorne will still exist since war, violance is inevitable even on a small planet, not to mention the galaxy. Nurgle is inevitable, Tzeech also and same goes for Slaneesh and others.
The gods existed way before of the birth of humanity and will exist even after humanity goes extinc. They are driven by emotions, desires and actions of almost living creatures.
The only way to get rid of them is for the tyrannids to devour the whole galaxy.

I think what the Emperor and the Imperial Truth was designed to do was starve the Chaos Gods of their most potent form of gaining power, yes they gain power from emotions, but they gain even more from worship, sacrifice, rituals and the like.
The Sisters of Battle and others have shown that Daemons, and Chaos itself can be overcome by simple mental strength, and will power. Also my personal theory, is that the Emperor wanted to take humanity into the webway, then use the Astronomicon to call the Tyranids to wipe the Galaxy clean, then humanity would exit the webway and repopulate the galaxy again, free from the warp and Chaos

Imagine RG tries to ress the Emp while the Lion tries to kill the Emp to help him ascend. A physical clash between them both....epic. of course the Lion wins. Think Lion kills RG and the Emp but the Custodes cut down the Lion and his Legion. Humanity is saved at terrible cost.
