Really enjoyed this video Cal. You tell it as it is, keeping it simple and honest. Many of your contemporaries only post when conditions are perfect and they are catching loads of fish. I holidayed in the Channel Islands pre covid and the scenery and coastline were stunning. I am seriously envious. Keep up the good work.
Head cam 100% best pov IF you’re not swinging your head about all the time. This will come with practice. See Fishaholic, Sammy Hitzke, John Skinner, Field Trips with Robert Field and Dizzy Fish to name a few who all routinely use a head cam. If you’re particularly worried about how you look, try a baseball cap mounted cam. Great video and great fish Cal.
Great video Cal! What an utterly fantastic resource you have with the ocean nearby. I'd really love to get over there and do some of that Bass and Squid fishing.
Cheers mate. Yeah I can imagine it’s hard work up where you are. The temp has definitely dipped over here now but the wind has dropped a bit so hopefully get out again soon.
Great video and fishing, Cal. I know you don't like to give locations away but is that the Channel Islands. I can see the ferries and islands out to see but it's too wooded for the Hebrides.
Nice few bass Cal. Good to see the shad are bringing in the fish! Not sure about the head-cam, bit shaky.. lol. I am in the market for a lure bag and I like yours - what make and model is that please?
Cheers mate. Yeah I’m not a huge fan of the head cam either so it’s good to get some feedback. The lure bag I use is a savage gear one. I’m not too sure on the exact name of it. It’s the smaller one out of that range, has 3 lure boxes in it.
Nice! Finish work on a Friday and here's a new vid from me old mate Cal! 😁 So, Cal, bit of advice if you would, mate. Tides to fish? I've just moved down to Cornwall and enjoying just chucking lures around, but would love to hook into a fish. When would you recommend to fish? Flood, ebb, bit of both? Are the bass around all year, or does the cold drive them into deeper water? Any help and advice greatly appreciated.
Hi mate. Tides for bass will vary greatly depending on the venue. It’s hard to say where you are because I wouldn’t know what the spots are like. If you’re fishing over boulder beds for instance, then I’d fish it over high then an hour or so into the ebb. I fish a lot of my spots on the drop, especially at night. Loads of places will fish well over high or on the flood too though. I’m afraid it all comes down to fishing your spots on most states of tide to see what works best for you. My advice would be.. If you catch bass at a certain state of tide, think about where at that mark they’ll move to after and why. Just keep going and I’m sure you’ll find some bass soon.
@@FISHINGWITHCAL I guess it comes down to there being no quick and easy way, put in the hours, the leg work and learn as you go. Hugely appreciate the detailed response, Cal, thanks mate.
The braid I’m using on that rod is the 8 strand Daiwa J braid. I use the 26lb with a 0.18mm diameter. I’ve used it for quite a while now and I’ve always got on with it. 👍🏼
Been lurking on you vids for a while now but just wanted to say I always really enjoy them. That coastline is absolutely beautiful! Head cam offers an interesting perspective but maybe a little twitchy. I’d be way worse haha. One skater to another is your tattoo based on the OG Muska Silhouette?
Thanks a lot mate 👍🏼 I know what you mean about the head cam, that’s why I stopped using it a while ago. It’s hard to keep your head still 😂 Yeah the tattoo is a really bad picture of me from when I was about 19. I skate less these days because I’ll ache for a week afterwards 😂
Fwiw, not keen on the head-cam footage. It’s too erratic with all the head movements. Chest-cam more stable and easier to watch. Other than that another entertaining vid. Excellent.
Hammering them on the Samson again Cal! Well done mate. Good to see you on the Bass again! - SMITHY 😉🤙🎣🐟
There have been plenty of bass around lately mate. Hopefully a big one soon!💪🏻🎣
Boom....he’s on the fish AGAIN! Well done old chap. 👍🐟🐟🐟🐟
Cheers 🤙🏼🎣
I totally forgot about that trip haha nice video tho mate

Thanks mate. I just try to keep it simple that’s the main thing. Catching fish is always a bonus. Thanks a lot! 👍🏼
Fantastic session and well filmed as always.
Thanks a lot mate 👍🏼🎣

Great video and great fish Cal.
Yeah thanks mate. I'd not used a head cam for a while and you forget how much you move your head around. Next time I'll try to be more aware of it 👍🏼
