🤣🤣🤣🙈 i will die. So cute
No wonder my parrot has had such an attitude recently!
Mine too! I was expecting it from my female budgie but she's actually been pretty even. She's reaching sexual maturity and her cere is turning brown. She mostly just eats a lot lately. Surprisingly it's my male budgie that's had the problems. He keeps screaming at her and wants nothing to do with me now lol. It's like he's screaming at her to hurry up and grow up so he can, well, you know...
My birds were being JERKS, screaming, biting, and acting crazy, so I covered all of the mirrors, increased their sleep hours, and stopped feeding them anything mushy after watching this. Thanks!
Tap dance is the cutest dance i ever seen
This is a relief I thought my little cockatiel was just becoming aggressive and I don't even know why.
Poor babies. 😂. One of my Cockatiels huddles in the corner and makes the sound of the squirrels outside 😂
Good morning these are very cute and funny birds to see 😄👍
... Oh hormones. 😉💕🦜💕💚💘 Lovin in the air. 🤗✝️ 😆
I saw some eagles doing that over the highway. They were doing the sky dance.
Everybody gangsta still a bird is egg bound
Too funny! My male parakeet is in hormone season all year round. That’s all he wants to do when he’s on your hand!
Thank u I have a cockatiel and she is about 4 or 5 months old and she is such a crank pot lately
Omg.. she is too.young still... 🤣🤣🤭
Thank you for this. I was wondering why my sweet birds have turned viewer 18+ and nippy seemingly overnight smh..
I got my baby in January! and even after doing a lot of research i had no idea about this! this explains him being a little coo coo! thanks for sharing!
For almost two years our cockatiel was a cute little bird. Since four weeks he's really annoying. Thinking of all your birds and seeing your video, I must say: you got my respect.👍💪👏
Omg, thank you so much for this video! My birdies make me crazy, my 3 year old kakariki is so alert and territorial towards some other birdies 😭 While he usually is the sweetest bird lol. Very helpful video!
Hilarious and helpful! I especially liked the “mood music” 😂 My new cockatiel is just a year old and she is grump-y! I’m really hoping she’ll become sweet after this season is over. Thanks for the info and all your videos!
Hi Donna , I enjoyed you video , as always.Boy do you have a handful of harmonal birdies.I know it isn’t really funny as it can be rough on birds and caregivers alike, but I couldn’t help laughing at some of yours and that little hopping dance your finch was doing.Hopefully their breeding season will not last too long.I did have a Congo African Grey that was a rescue, (Sugar) that was truly in love with me and she would sit on my shoulder and feed me in my ear.I never discouraged her behavior which was wrong. She died of a heart attack when I had to be temporarily separated from her which Iam still grieving over since 2008. My Stormy Boy is a male Timneh and will be 8 in June.So far he has not exhibited this harmonal behavior. He’s always been a little cage territorial but a real sweety when he’s with me. But when I pay him or scratch him it’s only on his head or under his beak, as I know I could encourage breeding behaviors He will eat a little of my brown rice plain , organic peas in the pod, Mrs Greens apples without skin, fresh blue berries and a couple of nutriberries for greys for a morning treat. He’s on Tropican Pellet sticks for main diet.He gets a few unsalted cashews for afternoon treat. He also gets some organic unsalted almonds and a few pistachios in shell. He does go to a vet for a yearly exam. He gets a lot of sleep.I will watch out for any of these behaviors though as soon will be 8 as I’ve said.Iam hoping your harmonal bird season will come to an end soon.Take care.Wonderful video 👍. Hugs for all of your guys n gals!!!!!! 🤗🤗🤗
Lovely informative videos, as always 😊 Thank you very much 💖🐦
Omigosh this is the cutest video ever! My cockatiels behave weirdly too its adorable.💗
At one point in my life I had 12 love birds. I walked into a..... It was weird so I walked out.
thank you ,that was very informative ,you have helped me a lot as a first time budgie owner!!. and also hi from the uk!!
Yeah my parents got me a cockatiel when I was 5 YEARS OLD& I gave it to my grandmother at like 15. She can’t do much for him. Now I’m just now really taking care of my bird after 20+ yrs. It’s a miracle that tweety bird is still alive and his behavior makes the most sense 🤦🏾♂️😂😂😂😂
My budgie Cookie has fallen in love with his one toy & has been giving it some loving. XD And yet, the most my cockatiel Gilbee does is dance around the bottom of his cage & sing to me. XD (Although there have been times in the past where I thought he might have been a wee bit too friendly with my shoulder, but it's hard to say as he would go under my hair & rock side to side with his wings up. XD)
That's too funny my birds love to sing either with me or to me along with dancing whenever they are hormonal. Birds can be crazy little fun buns. But it's always been in their nature to get hormonal when it's mating season. It's like what they say in the Pringles commercial once you pop you can't stop. 😂
@@MotherNature101 Awe... That's sooo cute!
@@kirabowie Everyday is mating season XD My ten budgies are go ballistic with the singing but it's funny if they all like the song the sing in unison like a choir. It hilarious to watch them do that. If they hear me doing long or high notes since I have a coloratura soprano voice which is the highest female voice they have their mouth open like as if they are pulling off the note. They even love mimic my freaking out sounds which all my budgies and two cockatiels like to do which I think they enjoy doing. I guess I sound funny to them. My two male cockatiels are funny to watch. Tweedy my older cockatiel at some point tried to mate with my hand more than couple of times. The other one he's very young and not really at maturity yet. But I make note of the areas on their body that if you touch it well it turns them on like they have hormonal buttons on their body.. So I just pet the areas that don't turn them on like a lightbulb. 😂
@@MotherNature101 *giggles* Yeah, it's like for my Cookie & his favorite toy! XD WOW! You have quite the flock there! :D That sounds adorable!! My babies would definitely sing along! My Gilbee is singing right now. XD When I looked over at him, he stopped. XD
I had a cockatiel that used to mate with his food dish! XD Gilbee likes to sleep in his treat dish. XD My vet said it's "chick behavior" that he never grew out of. He also has a ledge in his cage that he'll sleep on too. XD
Cookie's afraid of hands/doesn't like them, which I had a feeling was the case when I got him. When they took him of the cage & sat him on my finger, he took off & just refused to sit there. My previous budgie Jaki was the same way. XD She at least had a buddy Ban, who out lived her by 3 years. He was friendly, but I had trouble taming him as she'd always call him back. XD
So only Gilbee comes out & he sits on my shoulder or my finger for head skritches. :D That's all he gets, besides a lil kiss goodnight on his head. So he's not so hormonal.
@@kirabowie Wow that's a lot of bird episodes with Gilbee and Cookie. My birds know when I am using my phone to record them so when they see me they just stop dead in their tracks. Other times I act like I'm doing something and hold the phone out but still act like I'm busy XD Jaki and Ban put a new meaning to birds of a feather when she calls him back.
That's so funny about your cockatiel that like to mate with his food dish XD Gilbee sounds a lot like Tweedy who likes to be on not just my shoulder or finger for head scratches but my head included he loves to watch the action from above on my head. But now he feels like he has to compete with the new cockatiel for the spot on my head. XD My new cockatiel is getting used to hands since he is not used to that but at least he knows step up. I hope my birds won't be super jealous when I get an african grey parrot.
The person is someone in my family who has more than one health problem and she asked me that if something happens to her that I would adopt Chico who is really a girl. She told me than non of her five kids who are all grown up and living on their own wanted him. When she bought and raised it from a chick she thought it was a he but later found out it was a she. I told her I can take her since I know quite a bit about that species but never owned one. She also told me that her husband agrees to give the bird to me whenever that time comes. I'm more than happy to adopt Chico. She will be the only girl bird in the house since all my flock are all boys aside from my only dog who is a girl along with one of my three cats two of them are boys and one is girl. My dad's roborovski hamster is a girl too. I have quite the zoo since my family on both sides love animals. I have had pets all my life so far and probably will keep on until I'm a goner XD
Thanks for this video! That’s why my cockatiels are acting up lately 😬😳
The music to this video is perfect 😂
Thank you! God bless! ❤️
Great video! It helps to know that I'm not alone in this...
Omg.. true.. i have.problems with my male cockatiel. Jesus 😅😅😅😅🤭🤭🤣
Thank you for sharing. This very helpful!
Really Amazing vid
Thank you 😊
@@Loveofpets Your welcome May you channel continue more Success
My cockatiel just tried to do a mating stance infront of us..it's time.
I know with chickens they discourage broody hens from sitting on eggs or fake eggs, because they will neglect themselves for weeks to sit on them and it’s stressful on their little bodies.
So I don’t think I’d allow a female to sit on them, personally.
This was a good video! That finch getting busy with the millet, bless him 😂
Winter's on its way here and Bobby, my zebra finch, has entered Hormonal Season too. As soon as the lights on, he's ready for action 😅.
Thank you!
You're welcome!
I liked the topic . It is very useful and also helpful and new
Lol rated R. Honestly yah I'm a first time cockatiel owner and o God when he started to do it on his food bowl I noticed he used his foot heel to masturbate and it's disgusting but I started to make sure he sleeps at 5 in the afternoon cause yah. Oddly he started doing this because spring is over so why now during the summer. He just hit a year odd so maybe he's hitting adult hood. So he's a late boomer. Yah I also don't know but can cockatiels have a bluffing stage. Anyways definitely explains he's attitude though. Great video 👍
Amazing video, so useful. Good job!
P.S. I'm gonna try and find a video where you talk about it (I am sure you do somewhere) but if I don't, can you tell me what happened to the whit budgie's leg? Thanks
Hi. Glad you enjoyed my video. I adopted my one footed budgie as a baby. Not sure how he lost his foot but it's possible his parents chewed off his foot or he was born like that.
Excellent! Thank you
The music😂😂😂
my budgie is feeding me :(
LOL😂
Nice video, thanks
My bird cocktail started doing the shake tail and want to mate when i rise my hand , I’m not sure if its a female , my cocktail bird colour is creamy grey - white checks
Thank you.
Why they tend to ask for scratch but they bite when they see fingers?
My bird tried to love my hand. Ugh 🤦 noo touching bird until over
Jupp, my two parrotlets enter hormonal season, too for the first time. They're really skittish, more agressive and disregarding towards me, roaming the place, looking for nesting holes. I'll just sit this one out and watch them closely, when they're out. I'm really worrying about my female laying eggs, but so far she doesn't seem like it.
Thank you .
Now its clear..and i think its artificial light..that was making my budgie hormonal in winter..also its good to know not to encourage them when they want to sit on hand and masterbate
.so glad ive seen this now i just thought it was something my bird was going through..as ive had birds in the past and have never encountered this behaviour ..they were so calm..but my current one is very hormonal..accourding to the symptoms listed here..he has his own dark room for night sleeping..and hes a happy healthy boy ..only for the hormonal behaviour.
He enjoys different types of budgie seeds he has a choice of 2 in the cage ..and he also loves spinich..and sometimes apple..spinich is his favorite though..
and of course keeping his water fresh and topped up twice a day..and keeping his waterfont sterile..by rinsing it with boiling water at the sink with the kettle before putting in his clean fresh drinking water
Thank you great advice..hope fully he will feel calmer now that I know what this is and how to deal with it...and just not responding when he starts..tonight this happened and he just calmed down by himself..😇🐤
Yaaayyyy best bites of the year 😂 for new owners anyhow.... My birds are moulting nd my lovebird is nasty with any material that is soft...
Great
Does my Tiel will be back on a normal state? When I did all your instructions? How long? Thanks!
Quick question, are all your birds potty trained or do they poop everywhere?
This break dance and fast steps were both birds *******ting?
Loooveeee it
My new baby pineapple green cheek conure seems to be going thru this but it's only her 1st spring ever so I dont know how if she not mature yet but spring definitely seems to be having an effect she will like charge me one minute then when snuggled the next
Conures are known to be biters and territorial so it could be that or some young birds can be hormonal. Hopefully it will pass
@@Loveofpets she has started to mellow out some but she definitely tested her limits an were figuring each other out yet lol
Have any of your birds ever had babies. They are all lovely by the way.
My GCC is 3 years old. He (not sure since we did not DNA test) has his own room and his cage light is on for 11 hours a day
- no other lights are on at night and the blinds and door are closed between 7 and 7:30 PM. We had him for almost all his life and I have not noticed this hormonal behavior in previous years. This spring, his behavior is a little bit different (more vocal and a little bit fussy), but he chews up everything in sight (toys, cage liner paper, etc.). How long does this hormone spike usually last?
Very interesting. Maybe there a hormonal situation going on with my budgies right now; they have been very loud and feathers are all over the place. Will they also be molting during hormonal season ?
Hi, they can molt at the same time which will make them extra cranky.
Hahha so funny ♥️
plzzzzzzz tell me if i don't want to breed them because i already have 4 birds and i go to school so i don't want them to breed(BTW they are all bonded to each other)
Due to mating season, I am concerned my parakeets will try to breed with one another and cause the female bird to start laying eggs. Do you suggest separating the males and the females ?
To be safe it's best to separate them if it's possible.
My 5.5 month old Budgie just started. I don't know if it's a male or female. It's wanting it's belly rubbed. It has never wanted to be petted before period. No head scritches nothing. I can't tell by cere yet either.
It's best to avoid touching the belly.
What color is your lovebird? I have a wild color peach face. I love sprinkles!
I’d like to get mine a partner of his color
Hi, Sprinkles is a Pied Seagreen Peachface.
My budgie is so hormonal that I literally don't even want to come home anymore.
If someone told me she was going to turn into such a raging b word, I never would've taken her on 🤦
Your birds diet is leading their their hormonal behaviour. You are giving them too rich a diet that is mimicing the diet they would get in the breeding season. If you reduce their food intake and dont provide such a rich diet they will not get like this.
Haha i just saw my females chewing away on their cuttlebone
Hi 👋 How long does this last ? And do males get more hormonal than females? I have a male and I was in shock how weird and aggressive he started to get last week. He is 9 months 🤭😥 used to be a sweetheart
Hi, yes males get hormonal. It could last a few weeks to a few months
@@Loveofpets I’m very shocked. It is very unpleasant because I never know now when he will attack 😥 We had a such a great trust. Hopefully it will be weeks not months. It hurts too - I cried few times because I couldn’t believe he would be capable of acting out of control like this
@@colorfulworld2450 I have no idea but I think it’s getting a little bit better. I was also told that maybe I should clip the feathers
@@agak61just wondering is it over? Is he ok.
@@ronarktv6926 it was getting better but unfortunately I had to trim the wings for time being ;( It was very loud when flying and my neighbor left me a nasty note that he can’t take it anymore - which I understand. Until I buy a house they will have to be trimmed - which helped a bunch for now.
Do any of your female birds lay eggs? I read that female cockatiels are prone to laying eggs
My female Cockatiel laid eggs last year. This year she hasn't laid any. It is common that Cockatiels and Budgies can be chronic egg layers
@@Loveofpets I'm terrified of the possible egg issues, so I'm think it may be better for my sanity to try to keep my flick all male lol Thank you for responding so quickly. I really appreciate it :)
My lovebird was regurgitating then swallowing it. Any idea why she was doing that? She was in her cage, perching next to her toys, but didn't regurgitate for the toy just swallowed it, she wasn't in distress or anything. She was whistling and I was whistling back
Hi. Sometimes they do that and it's normal. Sometimes they could be vomiting. Keep an eye on her.
@@Loveofpets Will do, thank you. She hasn't done it again, yet, and she seems herself, nothing has changed. I'm certain she was not vomiting, so that's a relief
That's good news.
Does it last all of spring ?
Yes, it can last all spring
@@Loveofpets my sun is 18 and it’s been a rough spring of biting me. She blows hot and cold. One minute she will step up and next minute she bites. I have tried just about everything. I am hoping she calms down. Thankfully she has not drawn blood in over a week though.
She is a female. You described her to a tee
@@Loveofpets She laid an egg yesterday!
Hi please reply, do birds get hormonal and think u are it's mate even tho it's not spring or fall ?
Hi, yes its possible anytime of the year since they are exposed to artificial lighting.
@@Loveofpets I am sorry but is artifical lighting like colored lights? Such as pink or green etc.? Or normal lightening like white, the one that everyone has
Hi, it can be regular house lights or lights that you put above their cage.
@@roseankara3054 Basically light made by humans.
I just got a singular female cockatiel so I had no clue
