If you were lucky enough to be a young rocker in the 70's and 80's , you had to love AW !Plenty of great music and concerts from Myles Goodwyn and the Wine. I remember seeing them back in the early 80's at CNE Stadium in Toronto...Mind blowing concert for a young party hardy...they played a 2 hour set that seemed like days! ooooooooo...what a nite! Jerry Mercer was a beast on the drums back then. Certainly they are one of my top 5..Cheers, MBN
The good ol days and back then Canada provided the world with some of the best Rock Music ever created in my opinion. Rush, Triumph,April Wine,Pat Travers,Loverboy, Bryan Adams including Neil Young and Gordon Lightfoot
no no and no 😀...i still love that song. ...i am ..ähhhh....56 now 😀. april wine was a great band with lots of great songs !! never had the chance to see them live ☹ here in germany...
You got that right..4 awesome guitars 🎸 licks.. giving their all ..mind blowing..April Wine has the best guitarists ever...period hands down ... now there are only 3 RIP Myles.😢😢
@@markb4188 Thanks. Saga is also a Canadian band. I saw them opening for Chilliwack (another Canadian band). Believe it or not, here in Moncton, New Brunswick, Saga were booed off the stage and trash was thrown at them. They left the stage early and a little while later, the lead singer for Chilliwack came out and told the crowd off. He also said that they would not start any earlier and we would just have to wait. I did not participate in what went on. The hit song on the radio at the time was California Girl and Chilliwack did not play the song
This has to be my favorite song by these guys. Saw them 2x back in the day, even met the drummer Jerry Mercer in Houston at the Hyatt in the lobby. He actually sat and talked to me for about 30mins. Super cool guy, I'll never forget that!
No doubt....It's a shame, Myles was a brilliant songwriter, guitarist and vocalist, he didn't really need to give up lead vocals to Brian but he probably should have....as good as he was on vocals he wasn't on par with say, Robert Plant at his best, whereas Brian maybe might have been....with his songwriting and Brians vocals and the combined instrumental talent of everyone, who knows what could have happened.
@@hobbsmack Plant only had to concern himself with singing whereas Myles sang and played guitar live which is significantly more involved and difficult !
2:55 FUCK that was incredible. I did not see those bombs coming and Brian fucking CRUSHED that vocal part. This is one of my all-time favourite April Wine songs. This band is seriously fucking awesome.
I can't find a single thing wrong with this, it is one of the best songs I have ever heard & in particular the soaring lead guitar at the end .Thanks a million Brian & band.
Me and my best friend went to the drive-in with my sister and her boyfriend to see alien that was the first time I heard this song he's been my brother-in-law like 30 years now Good Times
After 'I need you bad' @ 3:04 ‘Babe’ lyric belted out so dynamically raw, with right arm thrust into the air, careening jostled curls, as the pyrotechnic flash blasts - was extremely powerful! Brian was featured solely singing and rocking out his guitar! The band is totally in sync playing this song. Truly a joy to watch and listen. Thanks April Wine for rock'n it out!
There will never be another APRIL WINE,SO I can say I was lucky enough to see them live a few times. Before the dawn is a rock solid song that doesn't get enough RECOGNITION!! So ,its 2021, and ,I will be listening to them as long as I breathe air,and incidentally, THANKS CANADA,!!! I think you know what I mean.
I like how Brian Greenway realized midway that he didn't project strongly enough in the song's first half, and then really made a concerted effort to do so in the second half, with winning results. 👍 Love the brief guitar duel between him and Gary Moffet near the end!! 🤘
Awesome song It totally kicks some serious ass I got to see April Wine for my first time during this tour and have seen them several times since. I will always will be a huge fan
Awesome. I saw these 1980 & 1981. Fantastic live band. I've covered this track in bands over the years. Never tire of listening to it. I need to dig out my Brian Greenway vinyl.
Way back when MTV first started every Saturday night they'd have a concert. That's where I first remember seeing this, believe it or not. I'd liked them since 1st Glance, so this was especially cool to see.👍
This is a great song..hard rock at it's finest...I think Brian still uses this guitar,,it is quite worn, but he still plays the hell out of it,,,thanks for the post...they just don't write songs like this anymore....
A lot of guitar players were influenced by Eddie V H, Jimmy page, Angus, Blackmore, etc but it was only after seeing these guys perform this song that I had to get an electric guitar..this still sounds great 42 years later.
Silly song lyrically, but a killer track musically. Brian Greenway shows why he wasn't the band's lead singer, but he did give it his best vocally on this song, which wasn't bad.
Yeah, they seemed to peak round this time. My mate at school back in 81 had a brother who was tour manager for Diamond Head who supported them on the 'nature of the beast'tour and he saw them on most UK dates and said the venues were all half empty and I don't think they have been back since.
Wow . What a performance 👏
Great performance, love this song.
No shit 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 I can't get enough of this song man.I wish it could have seen them live in concert...back in the day thank God for you tube ..🎉🎉🎉
I always enjoyed April Wine from the very beginning I'm 61 now and still listen to them.
Not far behind you at 56 and still listen to Nature of the Beast from end to end pretty much weekly. One of my favourite albums of all time.
I thought I was the only old dude that loved that song , rock on April Wine lovers

@melissadavis225 think only two left now bass player also passed
Saw them in San Antonio Texas in 1982. I have said before and will say it again, one of the most under rated bands ever!
If that was the Nature Of The Beast tour, who was the opening act? Here in Canada, it was HARLEQUIN (both Canadian bands)
@@gregsilver8312 The opening act was Saga, and they put on a really good show as well.

Greenway and Myles are the BEST!!! 😘😘😘🥰🥰
Damn, sounds good - 3 guitar attack!
These guys were so unbelievably good. I love this track and live. They just kick ass
killer Greenway
The Natural of the beast album cover was why my first drum kit was white.
One of the best & tightest bands ever ! Seen them lot's & it is sad that Myles will no longer be touring with them. Some big shoes to fill.
I saw them just last year? Myles and Brian still kicking it.
