Hey guys you should do a video about avalanche safety and safety gear :) I know the comfy zones in Whistler and other overseas resorts. They care for their coustomers. In Europe they do not! Or at least not in that way you guys are familiar with. Riding off pist is at your own risk. Tracks in the snow are no guarantee for a safe area. And if your friends/guides tell you something different it is simply not true. Here in the Alps we have every year over 100 fatalities. Coursed by inexperienced riders how ride alone, with no avalanche equipment or just had bad luck. And telling your audience the most important things to look at, are flat areas and to commit in each turn .... The first thing to think of is the avalanche report, to wear proper avalanche equipment, to ride with people you can count on and to check the snow in the area you are going to drop in. You scope not for flat spots but for signs of any avalanche risk. By the way the area you guys were riding in, had alot of warning signs like wind blown edges and snow pockets. Lucky you that it haven't snowed since 5 days. Educate yourself and educate your audience. You have a responsibility, as kids see your videos and can't judge the risk. People like them die every season in the Alps!
I was thinking the same thing, where are their rucksacks with the avi gear or avalungs. 🤔 My instructor in St Anton told me that some of the off piste is dangerous. ----- Stay safe guys. I hope you are all wearing beacons, at least.
@SuzN They do talk about avalanche gear, you can't judge if you haven't seen all of their videos. I've seen them answer viewers questions a lot too. They have almost 350 000 subscribers, of course they can't answer *all* questions. If they aren't good boarders, how do they have a license to teach? Cmon dude, sounds like you're just a bit jealous
Be careful guys. Austrian Backcountrys are NOT saved from Avalanches, so please have your Avalanche Equipment with you every time you go out of the Resort.
Yeah, looks like they're getting into 35-40 degree territory there - though a total guess from the roll-off of snow coming from TJ's board around 7:33 and Kevin's around 7:42. Looks gorgeous though.
Best film you've done for me. Love the drone style gimbal footage. Kevin you've come along massively in the last 2 years with your style. You're making me jealous as I got back from France a few weeks ago when the big storm hit which ruined our week. Dying to go back out there.
Guys, great video. Really insightful. And as an architect it was really nice to see you mention the examples of modern-historical blending of architecture. I was just in Salt Lake City and was struck by the lack of character..actually disappointed. But Snowbird was awesome and I'll be back!
Hey Guys the Avi warning risk is low at the moment but we are expecting a new storm front for the end of the week with potentially 30-50cm of fresh. If you are wandering off-piste into the side country or backcountry then its recommended you carry a shovel, probe and preferably a receiver. And of course your phone with the local rescue number in it. Also, make sure you spend the extra CHF / Euro 5 on the rescue element of the ski pass. If you get caught out in either France or Swissy especially Swissy you will have to sell your house to pay for the rescue and any treatment. Enjoy, www.avoriaz.com/en/freestyle-and-backcountry/snowparks
yes they are, just saw randomly a few videos from their channel. they have a great reach for all the kids out there, so they must address this issue. carry shovel, probe and tranceiver and after all make sure how to use them...
Just got back from a trip to the French Alps but it rained the day we landed and had higher temps the whole time. Seems like you guys had a much better trip! But holy crap man I just wanted to say the shot at 9:25 makes me wish I filmed more instead of just taking photos. Super beautiful video guys and awesome riding as always! Bonjour from AZ!
Great gimbal shots! that looks like a new thing you started doing. Been watching for a while and every video keeps impressing me. Keep doing what you are doing and inspiring thousands!
Awesome stuff. You guys should make it a bit clearer about avalanche risks in Europe especially off piste. There have been some real bad ones last few years.
i went to st christoph which is same area as st anton, its a little village up the road and the skiing around that area is brilliant. seeing this video brings back many happy memories, thanks!!
You have to be aware of avalaches and get your Equipment!! In Austria there is Not as much Safety guards as in canada. In Europe the rule is that you have to have Avalanche Equipment if you want to go backcountry
Already wrote a comment about that under another of their videos and I am not the only one. No answer. Lots of people are watching these videos and it looks like it's not important. But then they will have another topic coming and loads of videos and live tchats about it. Instead of having to choose twelve goggles out of a collection of fifty it will be beacons, shovels, probes and airbag packs...
Don't think it's a rule, but it's definitely recommended. In Whistler/Blackcomb they look after the off piste areas as long as you are inside the resort. In Europe if you go even 1cm off the side of a piste then that is not controlled by the resort and should be treated with caution. Be careful out there
go to rosshutte seefeld it's an amazing place one hour away from were you are not very known and steep phases it's an amazing resort to explore and at the time it has lots of snow!!!
Guys, with regards to following tracks off piste, base jumping is legal is some European countries (don't know about Austria),and climbing is popular, so following unfamiliar tracks off piste could end very badly if you don't have a rope or parachute:) . Mountains in Europe are essentially public property, so outside of the resort area one can hike, ski, camp, climb etc (of course all at ones own risk). Long story short, get a local/guide if leaving the resort area is your plan.
So cool to see you guys in Austria! The footage looks awesome. Btw there is a forecast for plenty of fresh snow towards the end of the week.. fingers crossed🤞
the food in the huts on the mountains are dank guys, try the wienershnitzel (fried pork cutlet), rosti mit speck (potatoes, egg and local ham) and the hallundersaft (drink)
yeeea dude, austria is amazing, been riding there since i was a small kid. if you like the big open runs you would love val thorens in france (300+ km of slopes, insane views, great pow). if you ever decide to visit europe again you should definitely check it out (vive la france? :D )
Hey guys, whats the music you guys used for the video, and can you guys do a video on good snowboarding music, something we can vibe to on those easy runs.
That whole valley is tremendous. Did the Zell - Gerlos arena tour a couple of weeks ago, was there the day after a powder day, so much untracked snow just off the piste. It's a popular run with skiers, but almost everyone stays glued to the piste. Makes it awesome for boarders.
Awesome video guys, this music was on freaking point. Could you link the artist and song??? You should use more atmospheric/ambient stuff like this for the vids. It fits riding perfectly. I have tons of suggestions for great riding music if you're ever interested.
When is tj dropping that review on that asym bataleon... that ones been catching my eye lately... another quick question. Where do you keep your spare lenses? Always worried I'm going to rub the inside of my lense too much if I bag it and sauce er in the pocket...
He doing a review at the Stash in Avoriaz. Lens is a tricky one. Inside a backpack maybe wrapped in a shirt for protection. You can also get a hard case if you have room
Hey Kevin and TJ. I'm living in Bludenz, so very close to Stuben. Would be nice to have a few hikes with you guys. So just send me a massage and i'll be there. Cheers Jens
i want ot be with u there. have to w8 few deys , on 15st of february we are going there with friends. we want to check all your tracks too. MORE MORE MORE VIDEOS
If that was the steepest thing you've done, you've got a lot to look forward to in France :D slopes that are black everywhere elese in europe are considered red in france and the black ones are a doozy :D I speak from experience from chamonix and les trois valées, where thanks to incredible snowfall snow sticks to places that elsewhere it would just be a rock wall. Not talking about slopes now... lookin' forward to your updates

Wow I'm having such withdrawal!! Winter can't come soon enough! 😍❄️
Nothing more fun than a deep powder day on a big fat snowboard.
Best film you've done for me. Love the drone style gimbal footage. Kevin you've come along massively in the last 2 years with your style. You're making me jealous as I got back from France a few weeks ago when the big storm hit which ruined our week. Dying to go back out there.
I realized after I was holding my breath when you guys went down that super steep run hahah I loved the time lapse of the chairlift looked awesome!!
no trip is complete without Heinz baked beans. Beans on toast man all the way!

they're in no way being negligent.
yes they are, just saw randomly a few videos from their channel. they have a great reach for all the kids out there, so they must address this issue. carry shovel, probe and tranceiver and after all make sure how to use them...
Yeah, as they intro more backcountry content onto the channel they should at least start mentioning the need for avi gear.
that dude in the background nailed that last turn
Just got back from a trip to the French Alps but it rained the day we landed and had higher temps the whole time. Seems like you guys had a much better trip! Really wish they’d include music titles... Great atmospherical video. Seeing that snow crack was amazing.
I love st Anton! It’s like my childhood mountain even though I live in the usa. I go there every winter since I was 3
Amazing filming guys... The makings of a movie! Epic!
Awesome stuff. You guys should make it a bit clearer about avalanche risks in Europe especially off piste. There have been some real bad ones last few years.

Living the dream...where else in Austria are you guys going this year?? Anywhere?
You guys have to go to Flachau-Winkel, that's where "Absolutpark" is 👌🏻
go to rosshutte seefeld it's an amazing place one hour away from were you are not very known and steep phases it's an amazing resort to explore and at the time it has lots of snow!!!

I like Zillertal Arena more, though :D

@Andy Davison Because the risk of Avalanche was at the most highest Level at that time... You can call yourself pretty lucky actually
Hey Guys! What Gopro settings are you using? Is this shot in 1020 60fps? Thanks

the Alps really are beautiful
Get over to mayrhofen and hit the harakiri if you want steep... just got back 2 days ago
every time i went up the lift over the top of it last year there would be at least 2 people freesliding on their backs all the way down xD
Rusty McSpoon yeah one slip and ur sliding right to the bottom.. no stopping you. Just the angle of the snow cannons shows how steep it is
TJs jumps look just so damn weightless in the powder!
Awesome video guys, this music was on freaking point. Could you link the artist and song??? You should use more atmospheric/ambient stuff like this for the vids. It fits riding perfectly. I have tons of suggestions for great riding music if you're ever interested.
it's Darude - Sandstorm

God damn it... Get well soon bro... I would suggest you went to a chiropractor, cause last year, the same happened to me. :(
What is the song please? Great vid
I really, really hope you guys brought some avalanche gear...
Ian C Hill the avalanche report was 2/5 (moderate) so stop whining
Gotta agree with trumpfass here, riding something that steep without avi gear is asking for trouble. Glad you guys stayed outta trouble.
All guys except Baseballgod: do you recommend to wear tinfoil hat over the helmet too??
How’s the T1? Planning on getting it..
You boys Eurotripping it again this year?
If that was the steepest thing you've done, you've got a lot to look forward to in France :D slopes that are black everywhere elese in europe are considered red in france and the black ones are a doozy :D I speak from experience from chamonix and les trois valées, where thanks to incredible snowfall snow sticks to places that elsewhere it would just be a rock wall. Hi snowboard guys I'm in St Anton would you like to meet up tomorrow

So how's Europe different compared to US in skiing/snowboarding?
Vladimir Andjelic europe has much steeper pistes
@@Redstone4You True, I've read that an American green which is technically the equivalent to a European blue is way less steep
Where are you kn Austria?
what settings do you use on the go pro??
