Vegans who do not want to cause harm to the animals can obviously still like the taste of meat. I dont find that strange at all. These recipes offer this taste but without violence.❤
Have you tried pan frying the strips?....Nevermind. It worked. Don't know if they'd have been better baked, but they were sooo hmmmm. I loved the sauce. Had a bit left over mixed it in with some nopork and beans. I'm a new subscriber. So now I'm off to see what other sauces/marinades/dressings you may have done. Thanks for this recipe!
I just made this, although didn't have the tomari or liquid smoke. It still came out tasting fantastic, and the salt creating little pockets of air is such a good tip! I'm looking forward to trying it again
Your pic looks AWESOME! But im tasting more BBQ than bacon & bacon shouldn't taste like BBQ sauce. But it's the best looking one Ive seen so far! Totally needs more salt though ~
Love the video! The bacon looks and sounds so much like bacon. Is it possible to leave out the oil from the marinade? Or is there an acceptable non-oil substitute for it?
Hi I was so excited about this. Just tried it and even with oiling the baking paper the rice pancakes stick so that you can’t flip them over to put marinade on both sides. Managed to get batch 2 to flip after oiling paper first but once out of the oven they then stick to paper after cooking. Tried it several ways and the paper still sticks. What baking paper are you using? Also tried frying the rice pancakes whole with your marinade and this works well.
Lotty Punter-Bradshaw hello Lotty! Sorry to hear you’ve had some issues. I use bacofoil non stick baking paper. And mine don’t stick at all. Hope this helps.
That would be good on vegan burgers, with roasted green chilis, pepper jack cheese, some lettuce, tomatoes pickles, onions, jalapenos, and ketchup deli mustard or bbq sauce.
Really Really good 👍 made 2 batches and shared with the family...I did find some that were a bit chewy, have you found that the cooking time would affect this?
pretty good! where have you been all my life when I was trying to make bacon out of tofu? ps this may help someone.. it's 400 fahrenheit, not celsius, as I found out :D
I realised as soon as I started editing the video that I’d said ration the whole way through instead of rasher. However, the rest of the video worked and would stop some people eating pigs so I put it up anyway. Sometimes you can just think stuff mate. You don’t have to write mean comments about people on their page. Just move on and resist the urge to be inconsiderate.
@@BrettCobley Interesting. The tamari they sell in my area must be different from yours. I buy soy sauce for me and tamari from a gluten free relative. The tamari is slightly less salty and has a stronger soy flavor, but other than that they are practically indistinguishable. I wonder if a product we have here called Sweet Soy, or Kecap Manis, is our version of your thicker sweeter tamari.
"Ration" lol. I'm going to try this, but I don't understand why vegan bacon has to taste of onion, garlic, nooch, etc, for bacon surely all we need is salt, sweet and smoke?
Did anyone know that it's a scientific fact that you're in a 100% less risk of becoming a suicide bomber if you do eat bacon than if you don't. That just one reason I eat bacon. Oh and it's not called bacon unless it's made from delicious meat. It should be called fakeon if anything.👍😋🐖🥓
"Vegan bacon"??! - No such thing, if is is vegan it is not bacon; if it is bacon it is not vegan. If you want to eat something that looks like bacon, smells like bacon and tastes like bacon, eat BACON.
muse ik not sure why you clicked on a video of vegan bacon then 😂 I know bacon is pork. It’s why I prefaced it with the word vegan. The word good is positive. That is why you can say NOT GOOD and it means something entirely different. Isn’t language funny x
I understand that you are vegan, great good for you. However the concept of why you are even bothering to make vegan 'bacon' completely baffles me. If you don't want to eat meat or animal products go for it, but why go out of your way to make an imitation of a meat product?
Godless Gamer thanks for asking. I didn’t go vegan because I stopped liking the taste and texture of meat. I did it because the meat and dairy industry is destroying our planet and I don’t agree with the treatment and slaughter of animals in factory farming. So I decided to opt out of that system. And for those who want to live a more kind compassionate life but miss bacon I decided to help them satisfy that craving in a kind way. Hope this helps mate. If you ever have any more questions about veganism I’m always here to help.
@@BrettCobley Naturally the land used to farm all the products in the copious amount of sauces and spices you applied must be run without GMO's meaning more land is required and more pesticides used to ensure successful crop production of soy beans alone. The realization then that an enormous amount of non factory farmed insects and rodents along with many other animals that would live in or attempt to live in these crops will be slaughtered and poisoned to ensure the crop makes it to your table must be evident.
Godless Gamer looks like you’ve looked in to it which is really good. Everyone should know where their food comes from. I looked at the same stuff. But when you look at the land used to grow feed for cattle. That too kills insects and rodents. My goal in life isn’t to cause no harm as me simply living does that. It’s to reduce the amount of harm and when you stack all the evidence side by side veganism causes less harm. So I chose that. If you don’t want to make vegan bacon that’s obviously cool mate. Plenty of recipes out there that just use vegetables
@@BrettCobley Very level headed and fair answer that I can accept, kudos. However in not eating meats or animal products whilst yes this can lead to health benefits such as lower cholesterol, lower risks of certain cancers and heart disease it also reduces the amount of vitamin B-12, polyunsaturated fats, iron, zinc, vitamin D and can even lead to cardiovascular problems ( low blood pressure etc ) and likely bone problems. Certainly supplements can handle some of these as you say it is a matter of choice and doing the least amount of harm including self harm. Honestly this aspect is open ended and I won't alter you nor you me. My original question however, is more so the mind frame of somebody who has opted out of animal products yet still wishes to imitate certain products to satisfy a craving. That is the crux of what I am trying to get at. The mental gymnastics involved too on one hand not eat animal products and on the other cook products to 'trick' your own mind and imitate these products. Tofu that tastes like chicken, sticky vegan BBQ ribs or perhaps smoked watermelon ham to name but a few at a glance. The mental equivalent of having your cake and eating it to that is a contradiction in self justification. Hence my befuddlement.
Godless Gamer I understand that you don’t want to be changed. I’m only uploading on my own channels with helpful recipes for people. I am not someone that goes on to others pages. I instead let people find me. What I would say is do watch some vegan documentaries or read the book how not to die by dr Gregor purely from the standpoint of the science behind bone problems etc as I used to think the same until I looked into it more. Also I would think of wanting to be vegan but recreate meat in the same way as I think of owning an electric car. Someone with an electric car doesn’t stop wanting to drive. They just want to do it in a way that has less impact (again not no impact) and no one messages them and says “I don’t get it why don’t you just walk 50miles to work. Why care about the environment but still own a car.” I think about it the same way mate. I understand you don’t want to go vegan. But you yourself could take small steps to eat less meat or use plant milks etc. And I am willing to help if you ever need it. Hope you’re well and staying safe during this tough time.

@brettcobley do you still have a website?
Thanks this process is so easy compared to the others.

does it just taste good or does it actually taste like bacon?
Brilliant!! My newly vegan daughter loves it and so do i!!! Props to you!!
Dumb
muse ik oh why ruin such a nice rewarding moment?!💓
The future is vegan.
Awe so good to hear you support your daughter’s decision ♥️
Great video, thank you ! 🙏🏽 I will save it in my playlist. ⚓☀

Would it last three or four days in the fridge if I decided to make extra for other morning breakfasts?
That crunch 🤤
I’m new to this way of eating and trying different recipes. This was so easy, thank you so much!
Tabitha brown
I am definitely gonna try it! How long does the "bacon" last? A week?
Fantastic recipe and video. Love that you don’t do overly long intros.
Thanks! Yes i try and make videos in a style that I like

This was really great, video was excellent and really well constructed
Thanks Bro!
How do you not have more followers?! This looks so easy to make btw
Noveleffect thanks 😂 better get telling all your friends to follow me 😉 💚
Vegan's are very small minority in the world order, most people are carnivores, so yea where is my beef steak!

Lotty Punter-Bradshaw did you do the thumbs down? 😬
EpiVegan no
Lotty Punter-Bradshaw I was only messing 😂 💚 hope you can give it another go with different paper.
EpiVegan I think I’ll just fry the double rice paper instead , the marinade was lush . Going to try the quiche tomorrow, so fingers crossed x

You said "syrup". Forgive me but what kind of syrup did you use? maple? I want to be sure I make it correctly. Thanks!
Catch Court golden syrup

Thank you so much for this informative video! I got so much out of it. Thank you so much!
Great way of making this! Question can you use brown rice paper also?🤗
How many calories?
Oke
Can’t wait to try this!!
Ron Swanson don’t approve
Probably because he dead from clogged arteries
What many degrees Celsius degree? and Long time degrees Celsius? Thank you Chef
pretty good! where have you been all my life when I was trying to make bacon out of tofu? ps this may help someone.. it's 400 fahrenheit, not celsius, as I found out :D
theAbeElement I said 200 not 400 😊
You really deserve more attention😳 wow
Thanks! Definitely share and let people know
Which syrup is it ? Should i use Honey?
Onion salt = How much onion powder and salt , if we don't have the onion salt combo seasoning
Thanks for making this im going to try it much luv ~ canada
I like that you get right to the point. Good stuff, mate.
Amazing 🤩
Wow, good idea!
So glad I found this channel!
everyone is being so rude but i think its so nice and a great alternative!
Kennedi Campbell thanks! People are usually afraid of change! I appreciate your kind words.
1:24 what Syrup
Sebastian F. Golden syrup it’s essentially a slightly caramel flavoured syrup
How to keep it? Can keep for how long?
brilliant! 💚
Looks delish!
Can we freeze after cooking?
#GoVegan
I think I’m gonna just have to try this.
Fav 💕🤤
I still want the real thing
'ration' -.

Awesome
When did Daniel Ratcliff start doing vegan UA-cam videos?
I think you meant ‘rasher’ not ‘ration’! 😊
Nice ♥️
Why use soy sauce AND Tamari, aren't they essentially the same thing?
Zocchihedron tamari is thicker and sweeter than soy

Genius
Reminds me to the guy I cheated on my first ex with 😂 except he can’t cook for shit, but you guys look the same 💗
Aha so funny
"Ration" lol. I'm going to try this, but I don't understand why vegan bacon has to taste of onion, garlic, nooch, etc, for bacon surely all we need is salt, sweet and smoke?
Ian Bridger why don’t you try it both ways and see what you think mate? 😊
Ian Bridger i know right? Im allergic to garlic myself which makes it a challenge to find vegan things I can eat. :-(
@@kaassoufflex9023 If you are allergic to garlic, just leave it out of the recipe. Easy fix.
Please make a beef carrot next time...
I'd just eat bacon

That ain’t no fucking bacon
This is a sin
Nice, owning the vegoons by getting heart disease with cruelty bacon!!
Really? Oh my, I think I should go back to eat the flesh of a pig again then.
😂😂
Maissa Cueva nah he kidding don’t 😂

Trebuchet Tony702 💚
Its vegan Bacon. That means it's not even Bacon. It's a poor imitation
ja ck 😂 congratulations! That’s my most boring comment of the week
ja ck - Why are you even here. You obviously prefer to eat blood and flesh of conscious, sentient beings.
LOL what do you want us to call it - Vacon? hey! If this product is marketed, let's call it vacon
theAbeElement actually a nice name
I would’ve called it Facon but fake doesn’t sound so positive.
