What an amazing quote by Patricia Holland - I can see why Tyler stated it is his favorite quote. Feeling the foundational liberty we SAY we believe in, to be who we truly are, to feel comfortable and empowered in our own skin, is something that we all yearn to feel - and maybe like you discussed we only get there by a lifetime of doing the repetitive things a little better day after day. I read a comment recently (in a George Handley book) where he says it's so important to remember that "the fold is not the mold". There isn't a one and only way to be a good disciple of Jesus Christ. I love your weekly lessons - thank you!!

Alma 5 is one of my favorite chapters. In alma. It brought me out of. My dark past. You two are inspiration to my family. My parents decided to do. Come follow me. As an family sunday school class. Using zoom. Even my sister who is inactive. Started to take interest now. The book of mormon is real. You two bring the book to life. It makes more since now. I grew up in the lds church. Served mission, former truck driver. Now I'm home more. Thank you, for doing this. It helped me. To understand the scriptures better.

Thank you for making a safe place for us to study and learn. Having a measure of scrupulosity, I always know that I can listen freely to you and turn the sound up, that I won't have to talk myself back into rationality, but be uplifted, and my heart turned more to my Saviour and feel how His is turned to me. Just thank you.

I know I was so much blessed because of Alma's words that I need to contact again those missionaries who gave to me The Book of Mormon. I told them I want to continue investigating the church.. It's nearly 13 years now that I never had any regrets being a member of Lds church..
Heavenly Father loves me so much. He knew my personal struggles to really understand The Book of Mormon. Years back I always try to finish reading it from cover to cover.. But I know I really need help from anybody to really understand those chapters and verses.
I testified that God really answers prayers in His due time.. These great teachers really helps me to better understand The Book of Mormon and I am so lucky with bonus( they're also teaching me the meaning of those prefixed words and so on with matching vocabulary on my part)..It's like perfect 😇😇
Really learned a lot from you Brother Taylor and Tyler.. I am worrying now what if there's no internet😔
I am always grateful for the two of you.

My daughter was 26 and had a diagnoses of breast cancer , and it was fast growing. I couldnt stop crying. I knew I couldnt help her with it all and her children if I couldnt stop crying. I started fasting and praying to be able to for get my pain and to bless her to live. But it was a battle with Satan to keep from feeling so sorry for myself for him telling me she was going to die. I even roll down the window in the car hunt housing to get out finally one night about a weekend I had a dream after saying very wedding prayer, I dream that I literally had a fight with Satan and kicked him out. The next day I went to my daughter's house I had this feeling the words just thing to go through my body same she's going to be okay but in that message reading between the lines I knew that didn't mean she was going to live. But I was able to come to terms with it I'm just tell her all that I could and enjoy the time that I had.

Thank you so much for your lessons. As a word nerd I especially appreciate Taylor's contribution. It helps me connect with the scriptures. Alma 5 is a difficult chapter for those of us who struggle with depression. Over the years I have come to realize that if I can't feel to sing the song of redeeming love right NOW, it may not be my "fault", and if I REMEMBER the Lord's goodness and mercy in the past, and that there are sunny days amidst the gloom, then I have hope and can persevere. Wendy Ulrich calls it Spiritual Nebraska. All that to say, thank you Tyler for teaching Alma 5 with gentleness and context. Sometimes my EKG machine is faulty, and I just have to be patient in my afflictions until it gets a tune up. I seek the Lord and ask for him to help me see clearly..to see Christ in ME when I can't see it on my own. 💗

A timely powerful reminder of our very personal and intimate quest as we individually journey through mortality, one by one. Our travel includes many challenges, struggles, storms, whirlwinds and successes too! Indeed, our mortal quest, is part of a marvellous eternal adventure, one eternal round, without beginning or end. Thank you for elevating my thinking again, to personalise all of the questions in Alma 5. I know that small incremental changes, over the long term - drop by drop - has significant, long lasting impact - "that" is certain!

That was a very strong quote in the first part, thanks for that. No wonder we can never really understand the full suffering of others. We can never compare, only to our own improvements, as you quoted after that, from Henry B Eyring.

In my opinion, it is also extremely important that we get an answer from the Savior himself by asking him if we are living our lives in the manner that he accepts. He is a perfect judge where we can not perfectly judge ourselves.

So grateful you brought that one very insidious piece of sophistry out in the open and put truth against it. Culture should not inform our thinking, the Lord must. Bless you.

I am a beat myself up body of disability. But on the day of Judgement, I will stand before my God. On one side of the room the devil on the other side Christ. The only one testifying of all the Commandments I broke or transgressed will be the devil. I will not defend myself.
I will be on that day thankful. I will be telling the Father all the Good that Jesus has done for me as the Savior of my soul.
Here on earth on the first Sunday of each month I practice for the day of Judgement before the Bar of God. I do not defend me I testify FOR Jesus Christ. It is not about me. All I am, All I had been before baptism, all I will become is because of Jesus Christ.
There is no self battering in heaven like on earth. Those are of the world and of the fall of this world. No, I am a child on God. I defend his choice to send the Messiah to lead me home. He did, He does, and I am .
Testimony Sunday is a practice day for the final Judgement. Do you know Jesus Christ, Did you follow him. Did you improve by the teachings of His Holy Spirit.
It is not about me. Henceforth and forever, what has Jesus done for thee.

When Brother Halverson said this life is a test & wasn't meant to be easy is so very true. We all are born into various circumstances which are meant to test us whether it be a disability, personal relationships, issues with pride, the Word of Wisdom etc. not to mention living it today's world where we are dealing with the pandemic caused by the COVID-19 virus, & the recent riots, protests and civil direst consequent of the death of George Floyd. We can have peace in Christ by increasing our determination living the gospel of Christ and striving to minimalizing Satan's temptations in our lives. President Russel M. Nelson said it best when he said "The time is coming when those who do not obey the Lord will be separated from those who chose to do so (see D&C 86:1-7). Our safest insurance is to be worthy of admission to His holy House. the greatest gift you give to the Lord is to keep yourself unspotted from the world, worthy to attend his holy house. > HIs gift is to you will be the peace and security of knowing that you are worthy to meet Him Whenever that time comes. Therefore in conjunction to reading & studying the scriptures we must follow the living prophet our priesthood leaders and parents and none else.

T&T Brothers, Engaging Scripture Block (Alma 5-7) this week with Chapter 5 "having more questions than any other chapter in all of our Canonized Scripture." If I may, I would like to add some supportive information regarding Alma 7:10. I was fortunate to take a RM Book of Mormon class from Reid Bankhead following my mission. I really enjoyed his class where he always used the phrase, "Ok, you Returned MIssionaries, remember Patience Job" when we got impatient and wanted to jump ahead.
Regarding Alma 7:10 and his explanation, "he shall be born of Mary AT Jerusalem." It was the first time I heard of the "Amarna Letters specifically EA 271 & EA 290 Circa 1365-1335 bc. At this specific reference point, it ALSO uses the phrase "At Jerusalem." Of course, Amarna is located in Egypt which I like to think of the language used by Lehi of Reformed Egyptian. However, I'm not sure if there is a tie in but it is sure interesting to ponder. Either way, the language used "At Jerusalem" was also used anciently and NOW YOU KNOW WHY !!

Loved the quote from Sister Holland. So true! Also, here is the way I think of the part about the Savior being born at Jerusalem. First of all, Joseph Smith knew Jesus was born in Bethlehem. Another proof he didn't write it. Also, the Lord was helping the people of Alma know that Christ would be born in the Old world of their ancestors- which was called Jerusalem to them.

I love the Temple Recommend question response to "How am I doing Spiritually." Something to think about...Alma DID ask questions....We can keep track of where we stand spiritually when we ask ourselves QUESTions....A lot of people that do not live in Salt Lake City, call it the Salt Lake area....but when people actually live there, they distinguish the areas like Midvale, Murray, South Jordan....etc....So I can totally understand that Christ was born AT Jerusalem.

Thanks for emphasising the word "that" , it made me think a bit longer on "so that". Just as Jesus gave no heed to temptations, he therefore was not burden with any resulting consequence of the FALLing into temptation, that made it then necessary that he literally had to feel to fullest degree every of the human pain, anguish, sorrow, etc., that- or- so that.....

I'm really grateful to hear these lessons that you've been posting- they've been so beneficial for our family. In one of these videos, you mentioned what it means to be as the dust, but you had said that you had explained what that meant in a previous video. I've been trying to find that previous video, and I'm struggling to find it. Do you happen to remember where it is?

    • @taylorhalverson3052
      @taylorhalverson3052 4 роки тому

Yes. the word "humility" comes from the Latin word for dust "Humilis". Furthermore, the word Adam is the related to the Hebrew word for dirt or dust. So as children of Adam we should remember that we should always be humble. :)
