- The Abruzzo region south of Rome is one of the best-kept secrets of Italy. Bypassed by mainstream tourism, the region is as Italian as it gets. Three mountainous national parks - Abruzzo National Park, Gran Sasso National Park and Majella National Park - as well as about 30 nature reserves are a playground for nature lovers, walkers and mountaineers. Picturesque villages and lively towns contain a cultural treasure trove. For photographers, the Abruzzo region is a playground like no other. All this is still awaiting discovery.

I’m from Tocco da Cassaria, Abruzzo. If you’re ever near there please take photos, we left there when I was five and have always wanted to go back and see my birthplace, but life got in the way. Now I’m just too old to travel. I am enjoying these short videos of towns around Italy.
My parents are from Tocco. Was there last May and going again in August. Absolutely love Tocco and Abruzzo

Really enjoyed this mix of video and photos of a beautiful region of Italy. Your photos are so similar to those I used to take. You don't just take views and buildings but you also take the fruit and vegetables, food, people, animals, in fact anything that moves or doesn't move. And that is how it should be to show exactly what a regin is made of. Loved the black and white photography, truly atnospheric. Well done.

Great video, please show Pretoro, Roccamontepiano, Fara Filiorum Petri, Ripa Teatina, Chieti, Rapino etc...leading to the Adriatc sea area.

Very well, but the italian word of the wooden hut on sea used for fishing is "trabocco" ( sing.) and "trabocchi" (plural, but prononced "trabokkee"). Remember : singular with -o termination, like "panino". The form "panini" is plural in italian and "-cchi" is always read "-kkee".
Thank you for correcting my terrible Italian language skills, Giorgio. I'm always eager to improve and had no intentions to upset native Italian speakers. You are blessed with one of the most beautiful languages.
@@donfuchs9793 Don't worry. Italians are never offended when they hear a foreigner make a linguistic mistake. Indeed, we are honored that you are trying to learn words of our language. So, throw yourself into Italian as in the water of a swimming pool and swim. You will always find someone who throws a life jacket at you and no one who will throw your head under. @@rabotnickaklasa Thank you for your kind comments, Matej! Head for San Vito Chientino. This town is in the centre of what is often called the Trabocchi Coast. You'll find several of these beautiful structures along the coast here.

Beautiful video! but..."ch" in Italian is always hard C (like your K). So should pronounced "trabokki"
If you think Abruzzo is south of Rome then you should probably get a better map!
What is the spelling of the town you based yourself in? I cannot find it.
Why not villa celiera?
Why not Anversa degli Abruzzi? Cocullo?Tagliacozzo? I could go on. The Abruzzo region is so rich in picturesque towns and villages. I would have needed another few month. I will, however, keep Villa Celiera in my mind for my next visit. D

South of Rome. Did you flunk geography in school? I think so.

And the Adriatic sea is in the east, not in the west.
