If you're new here, my name is Andrew Huang and I'm a musician who works with many genres and many instruments - and I've also made music with many things that aren't instruments like balloons, pants, water, and dentist equipment. For more info visit my website: andrewhuang.com

Thanks for watching today and a big hug to you if you share this video with someone!
Dear christ those are not sounds you’re supposed to get out of an instrument and I’m so glad they exist
check out Colin Stetson's stuff!
Jesse Budel I love colin stetsons stuff, but I haven’t heard enough. Thank you for reminding me of this man.

Actually it’s perfectly fine to call any wind instrument a horn. Band directors call all of our instruments horns all the time
In my experience, it generally just offends the french horns
What offends me is that he says that the contrabass is 110 years old but that model didn't come out until 1964.
Andrew, just when I thought I'd seen everything, you brought me something new. I've been working to incorporate my sax and clarinet, as well as other acoustic instruments, into electronic music and you have helped springboard new ideas. Thank you!
I'm working on a producer challenge right now where we take 5 minutes from my clarinet and tweak the sound to build a song. Wish me luck!
Good luck! Please post your creations. I'd love to hear what you come up with!
You have to check out Moon Hooch, Too Many Zooz, Big Blitz etc. I have full concerts of them on my channel. They do great stuff with horns and electronic music.
Have you listened to Griz and Too Many Zooz?
Look into it, there’s a handful of bands blending acoustic horns with electronic music
Gang of GreenHorns yesss i love watching those vids of yours that unfortunately not many know abt. they are better
imagine hopping into a random subway train just to escape Too Many Zooz, getting out, and there these guys are playing... :3
Escape Too Many Zooz? WHY?!?! Moon Hooch and TMZ are my life's sound track!
Yeah, but their stuff starts to all sound the same, and Leo’s overtones really don’t agree with some people.
@@jorkles4691 Nah. You just need to listen to more of their stuff.
@@jorkles4691 oi he's good, period.
Oh, I’m not denying that he’s not a good player; he’s got mad chops, I just don’t really like their music.

That contrabass clarinet looks like something out of mos eisley cantina
They have to cast theese guys for an Cantina Band Space Jazz Album

Andrew, a lot of people call every wind instrument a horn.
But technically, only french horns are officially horns
Hari Manchi ehh
Hari Manchi technically
@@LeakyJAZZ it is only technically tho
I heard people call flutes “horns” 💀
I saw their NPR Tiny Desk concert a few days ago, I was amazed by that traffic cone, but I was most impressed by how innovative and different their music is. Crazy horse and elephant noises. Thanks for the samples ;)
I just blown away with the fact that these instruments have existed for hundreds of years and they can produce sounds that we have discovered and manufactured in this present digital age of music. Just, wow.
I saw the cone in the thumbnail and immediately knew it was moon hooch and I don't think I've ever clicked on a video so fast lmao

Bro we actually need a live dubstep orchestra.
So glad these guys are getting featured, they've been making amazing music for years!

Christopher Birnbaum yes! They’re fantastic live! Such good energy
I love Moonhooch so much! I've seen them three times live now. They are some of the most innovative and badass musicians around. What a great cross-over!
This is the saxiest thing I've seen!
Andrew is probably doing tons of sax every day. I want to as well one day but it seems to require using your mouth a lot...
@Wautermelin what are you talking about?
@Wautermelin ;)
I've been in love with the sax growl for as long as I can remember. Thanks for these samples.
Anyone into this type of sound, check out Colin Stetson, that dude is a master at baritone sax
Statson plays Bass saxophone
@@sprK92 actually all of them and clarinets as well...
@@SebastianRAWendt of course but in his solo works he mostly plays bass, tenor and sometimes alto, so I wouldn't call him a master of the baritone. Still when it comes to extended techniques I think he is the most interesting guy around these days
I’ve been listening to Moon Hooch since the beginning and the fact that they just got featured on my favorite producer’s youtube just made this the best day ever
3:30 Leo p has entered the chat
Yeah, 😂😂
I really want that clarinet
I got recommended their NPR last Thursday and have been on a binge since, this video came in clutch! Can't wait to experiment with this sample pack, thanks big time bro!
As an alto saxophonist in my school band my mind heart and soul has been transcended from the knowledge I’ve gained about the universe of woodwind instruments and sound design from this video
3:32 Cowboy bebop sounding lmaoo
One great thing with Andrews channel is that we get to hear a lot of great bands and artists. Never heard of Moon Hooch before, but i'm damn glad that this video lead me to their stuff!
0:27 ----> Saxophones ARE woodwinds too! I'M MAD AT YOU !!!! (not :3 )
Woodwinds can still be horns
Sax is brasswind boi
@@Guitarisforgrins all woodwinds are horns, but they are not part of the horn family
@@cringebutyee1326 Saxophones are indeed woodwinds, specifically they are conical-bore single-reed woodwinds. Construction material is still irrelevant. You could built a clarinet or a flute out of metal, they'd still be woodwinds. Likewise, you could build a trumpet out of plastic, it would still be a brass instrument.
Essess Nine relax man, I'm aware. And even though it isn't technically a term, i think brasswind is the best way to describe a sax to the uneducated community
This is the dream collab. I need more. I consider these lads the ultimate mad geniuses of "instruments music" and "computers music" respectively & when they're together it's too much power in one place
Can't wait to see what you did with these sounds. These guys are very creative. Cheers from France!
I love Moon Hooch. I'm so glad you're working with them.
Should have titles the video “Weird Sax Noises”.
I was promised a dope ass Moon Hooch remix in one week and it's not fucking here yet
The contrabass clarinet at my high school is long and straight... the curved one sure looks a lot more convenient
It's called a paperclip style. They come up on eBay every now and then.
They also go 3 notes lower than usual
Fun fact he says it is 110 years old but the paperclip model didn't come out until 1964
Kirin this one looks like a low D model, so only 1 step lower
A.K.A a Didgeridoo
Moon Hooch rocks! I'm so glad you got to work with them! ♥️
We need Too many zooz and andrew Huang in the same room.
Recently saw Moon Hooch in concert. Their recorded stuff is amazing, but they’re even crazier in person (somehow). It’s so cool to see them on Andrew’s channel!!
the sound from those instruments is mind blowing!!
I would love to hear Radiohead's The national anthem on that sax. Would be amazing
Been watching for like 4 years since and inspired me to start producing in just 5th grade

Those may have to go on another video sharing platform 🤔
This video made me smile. Thanks, Andrew.
Misreading the title + that thumbnail = so much confusion
NPR and Andrew Huang featuring Moon Hooch is all i could ask for
In my humble opinion if you're not doing some of this every now and then your sax is boring.
@Andrew I can't believe you got to chill and sample with Moon Hooch! Awesome! Too bad I couldn't have gotten the sound pack before my first assignment in your class!
MOON HOOCH TIME YEE HAW
Loved Moon Hooch ever since their npr tiny desk they're so good this was brilliant!!
Alternative title: weird sax positions 😂
In jazz we call all the wind players (trumpets, trombones, saxes) horn players so depending on their specific classification of the style, you could call the bass clarinet a horn too :)
4:46 _S P A C E E L E P H A N T_
Recreating techniques and ideas that stemmed from production and translating them back into musician's technique is fucking genius.
You make some of the most awe-inspiring and original stuff. Even the artists you collaborate with are all genius people. Great minds. Thanks for sharing the sample pack.
There’s no such thing as a “horn instrument”. Any wind instrument (woodwinds/brass) can be called “horns”. Clarinets, saxes, flutes, oboes, etc are woodwinds. Clarinets/saxes are reeds, oboe/bassoon/english horn are double reeds, flutes are flutes. Trumpet, cornet, flugelhorn, french horn, trombones, baritone, euphonium, tuba, etc are brass. Anything else (strings, percussion, keyboards, etc) are not winds/“horns”.
Nicolas Lofgren
In Jazz, the term “horn” is colloquially used to refer to all the jazz woodwind instruments as all of them essentially function like a horn.
Not Happy Yeah. Brass too though. I was just explaining that wind instruments are called horns, but saying “horn instruments” sounds kind of strange. Also Andrew annotated at 0:28 that clarinets are “woodwinds not horns,” which doesn’t make sense.
This is probably my favorite crossover of all time, Moon Hooch is the goat of live fat grooves~
One letter different and we’d be on a very different but similar website

Eli Zamora Moon Hooch and Too Many Zooz have actually worked together before!
Those Leblanc paper clips are some weird clarinets. Not the best you can buy today but probably the best for moon hooches unique sound. Love them and I love seeing wind instrument!
I have to say Andrew , in a sea of sound alike clones in UA-cam land, ( no offense to anyone , but you know its true, same product reviews, same djenty, finger tapper, down tuners , same tired blues licks , synth links, sounds , songs.....etc, you know what I mean)
