Showtimes are great to interrupt attacks because using an attack they're weak to might not stagger them when you want them to.

I believe the damage is averaged between the stats of the persona used, at least thats how it seems. Because jokers persona can have max stats at lvl 1 i dont think level has a role in it. So when showtime becomes available, using your highest stat persona is best. Later on this becomes less needed as your persona should share max stats.
I do want to point out that while it may be placebo, using a persona that uses a ahowtime that would normally be strong against the target always felt like it did more. Again, placebo, but merciless gives enemies such a higher hp cap that the visual for doing 2000 vs 2500 might be negligible.
Then again, on merciless you either use the persona that are good against what youre fighting or youre dying.

What do showtime damage and all-out attack damage scale with? Strength, magic, or level? And in the case of all out attacks does only the active player's strength/magic/level matter or is it the whole active party's?

So I actually dont really know, I had ann at maxed magic damage, but she still seems lacking in damage. Ryuji and Yusuke had max magic and phys and that seemed to work, makoto had max magic but not phys so she was weaker than the guys so I believe you need both strength and magic to succeed. And for all out attacks it based on Joker, so as long as he is heat risered, the attack will carry thru with his stats in mind.
