The thing is with that retreat cost, it's super vulnerable to sabrina + opponent setting up, or even a bad opening. It would really benefit of a teammate able to switch itself to the active spot once per turn. I hope we get that at some point.
That would be a really cool addition the retreat cost is for sure one of the worst parts but I’d say if you’re careful with the way you set up your Pokemon you can play around Sabrina a good amount of the time and also realize when it’s time to start developing another threat
@@Edujs23 It's still not card advantage, it's hand manipulation: Red Card doesn't give card advantage until you shuffle 5+ cards with it, when there's 4 it's a 1 for 1.
If they are a tempo deck like misty or pikachu then it is highly advantageous to slow them down so you can get more value before they start snowballing. So while technically not "card advantage" there is a huge amount of situations where it easily gives you some sought of advantage
Rhydon is still super bad, your opponents either brick hard or also had type disadvantage. But let’s be real any other Pokémon instead of rhydon would be better
Yup the rhy evo line is probably the worst in the game next to gyarados and that's simply because misty works on gyarados 50% of the time while also having more damage and hp
It's good if you can build it up in time. I have it in a deck with a bunch of single energy attackers/retreats (mienshao, marowak, dugtrio) so I can get plenty of extra energy
@@zacziggarot no it's still bad. Golem gets brock, onix gets brock. The next similar card, gyarados, works with misty and its attack has an effect of energy removal, yet gyarados is still bad. That means rhydon is also bad
He’s in fact not “actually good” 4 energy cost for 100 raw dmg & for retreat. If he didn’t have such a small health pool I’d be well he can tank a bit more
I run a DON deck similar to this but I replaced the cubone line with the new jigglypuff line to sleep stall, either way it's a slow but fun deck no one expects!
That sounds like it could be good, I personally like the consistency of marowak and also how strong he is on turn 1 starts but your build makes sense for sure
Rhyhorn is worse than onix and rhydon is worse than gyarados which is probably the second worse stage 1 evo in the game. And at least gyarados works with misty

21:18 Red card against 4 cards is not card advantage. You're literally trading your red card for 1 card in your opponent's hand.
It depends, If they are holding an evolution in hand it is better
