  • This short video from the New England Journal of Medicine highlights the effects of climate change on health through an illustrative patient case. Viewers are guided through the clinical presentation, differential diagnosis, laboratory studies, and treatment, culminating in the final diagnosis. Based on an article published in the Journal, (Hunting for a Diagnosis, by N. Houchens et al., in the February 4, 2021, issue) the video explores the impact of climate change on vector ecology and related diseases.
The New England Journal of Medicine is the world’s leading general medical journal. Continuously published for over 200 years, NEJM publishes peer-reviewed research along with interactive clinical content for physicians, educators, and the global medical community at www.nejm.org/.

But important is also the delay between eating and symptoms which is non-typical for other food allergies and quite characteristic here, presumably due to alpha-gal connection with lipids and slow release in the GIT.
    Thank You, NEJM!

This underscores the importance of mandating that drug and supplement manufacturers clearly indicate the presence of animal-derived ingredients in their products. Common animal-derived ingredients in pharmaceuticals include gelatin and magnesium stearate. Such transparency can significantly improve the care of patients with Alpha-gal Syndrome.

What an interesting case! Something I never heard about in my training in the 1980s. Also, kids, remember, never go into the forest! Just kidding.

Thanks for the challenge of new situations. It would had been important to explain on which corticosteroid, dose and the antihistaminic., epinastine or another one.
