Engine 25 Philadelphia FD - Trash Fire in the Dystopian Nightmare that is Kensington

- The streets of Philadelphia have become the latest open-air drug market as homeless people inject themselves in broad daylight in the city.
Horrifying pictures show people shooting up on the sidewalk in the Kensington area surrounded by the filthy living conditions they call home.
Some then rolled their eyes back and hunched forward as the substances took control of them while others floundered around on the road, narrowly avoiding oncoming traffic.
Holy hell what a nightmare. My heart goes out to the first responders in those dark blue nightmare cities. Personally, although it's not forced, I always were full Bunker and SCBA on any trash fires, especially homeless encampment related. One time my Engine rolled up by accident on a trash fire, and we had one guy in wildland gear, and the others none. We put the fire out and pulled the tarp off the pile and found 4 propane bottles sizzling in the trash! Not to mention who knows what kind of toxic chemicals and drug parafinellia you'll come across. Scary stuff.

These are good days to be sticking close to the Boss & I'm not talking about the Captain on the Engine but the Lord Jesus Christ Himself who is the King Of Kings & the Lord Of Lords for only He can guide us through these dark days !

here in Denver, the bums can have a fire as long as its in an approved container such as a bbq grill. as long as there is 1 piece of food on/over it, its considered a cook-out not a campfire and the FD has to let it be.
Yeah, Kensington is a dystopian hell hole at the moment. There’s a part of me that says just leave them alone, but on the other hand, they’re so whacked out on drugs God knows what they could do.

Honesly, growing up in K&A aka kensington for 16 years, you get used to it!
The place is one step away from the movie Escape from New York!
