Flyest Gangstas on Stillmatic was massively underrated track. Him and Nas always create magic in the studio. AZ is a monster. I'm glad he's is getting the interviews.
Pieces of a Black man is still one of my favorite tracks from AZ. The Format and Aziatic were low key classics. AZ is timeless and I still dream of an album with AZ and Nas, featuring Raekwon and Ghostface, Black Thought and The Lox. That would be classic.
AZ Pieces of a Black Man def helped me as a youth come to a knowledge of self. So many jewels in his rhymes looking back. Admist all the street talk he def was a part of helping to uplift his people. Nah. Too late now. People will pick it apart. Nas set the bar so damn high on that 6 album run with intent, that it wouldn’t make no sense to collaborate with anyone.
This dude has style, grace, swag, just a real OG. An Older Gangsta type dude that grew up and stayed solid all the way through. I’m blessed to have known some of his lyrics. He connection with Nas is crazy. Phone tap was a movie to me. 🚨
I've said it plenty of times, AZ is one of THE MOST underrated rappers ever! So many people overlook him because of Nas, but A is top tier! A true spitter if ever there was one!
Alot people didn't know hey az got killed off the radio for Mariah Carey song honey that had the same sample. Az has been a victim of industry politics.

AZ was one of those cool rappers that if you were listening to him you were really into the East coast scene because he didn’t get that kind of rotation on national airwaves. His music videos would occasionally come on MTV but during specific hip hop hours at weird times. His music was good and his flow was 🔥.
Some dope visual angles choices for this interview. How the interviewers were seated vs the guest.. The visual cinematics plays a role just like content.👏🏾
Nas and AZ still the hardest flowing duo in rap to date. Them rap Gods owe the culture a joint album. Just them rapping over a bunch of DJ Premier, L.E.S, The Alchemist, Large Professor and Havoc beats.
It's so good to c yall doing ur thing I miss yall over at the other spot yall made that shine brighter but yall shining super bright over here I Fucks with yall heavy Esso hip hop historian
I think everyone who was old enough to understand hiphop lyrics has a story of where they were and wht they were doin when Nas dropped "Ether". I was at the crib waitin to by some bag from my guy Carlos across the street...when he got home he called me to come thru n he told me he just bought "Stillmatic". The day it released. He didnt even listen to the cd until I got over there like 5 mins later. We listened to the first track "Got Yourself a Gun" n then when "Ether" came on...omg...we went nuts. We blew like 2-3 blunts listening to tht album n heard "Ether" @ least 5x's during tht sesh. One of the best days of my life.
I hope that they ask A about his music. It's starting to seem like all of these interviewers only know Life's A Bitch and Sugar Hill. Talk about Rather Unique, Quiet Money, The Truth, Wanna Be There, A-1 Performance, At Night, City of Gods, etc.
Y no1 ask AZ what made him slow his flow up from da Doe or Die album , Hey AZ , Come get yo love and Life’s a Bitch oh and Omega .. plus Undeniable is a classic
We need to expand the range of AZ verses people talk about. It's 90% Life's a Bitch or 10% Rather Unique. His verse on Firm Fiasco, Mo Money/Mo Murda/Mo Homicide, Sugar Hill "so until we see past the green pastures...", "Quiet Money" with Half-a-Mil etc. And that's me off the top of my head as a 12-year-old getting those CD's, not even getting deeper into Pieces of a Man or his last 25 years.
I just want to say thank you because I haven't seen as since my teenage years I used to think him Nas was amazing together really good to see him it brought back memories my teenage days
We want to hear about AZ, no one ever asks him about his 2005-2009 run of projects;; AWOL, The Format, Undeniable, Legendary, Gold, Oil Diamonds
