    Shanti Mantra from the Upanishads:
    In Sanskrit:
    Om ! May He protect us both together;
    May He nourish us both together;
    May we work together with great energy,
    May our study be enlightening and without hostility,
    Peace, Peace, Peace Om..

    Prof. Balakrishnan was my physics professor at IIT Madras when I was there getting my engineering degree in the early 80s. Brilliant professor, humble person. I even took a Quantum Mechanics course with him in addition to the engineering physics courses that all undergradsd had to take. I can still remember everything he taught.

    These lectures are fantastic. The bit on heat and reversibility is particularly interesting. It seems that there lies a connection to the ubiquity of "workless" constraints. One thing I don't completely agree with is that I feel that Newton's formulation handles constraints just as well as Lagrange's once you introduce the concept of virtual work and d'Alembert's principle. The workless constraints disappear from the EOMs just like they do in the Lagrangian.

    At 15:10, I don't understand why the thing inside the curly brackets should be 0. Since delta q is arbitrary, he says, he makes the thing inside curly brackets 0. What if it (the thing inside curly brackets) is some sinusoidal function (or any odd function) integrated over it's time period, giving 0 as an answer?

      Delq is not 0 at all point of phase space trajectory and we see that left hand side is 0 so it implies that of delq is not 0 then the quantity inside curly bracket must be zero since delq is 0 only at t1 and t2

    does T-V is taken as lagrangian because of the consequence of work energy theorem? because K2-K1 = INTEGRAL OF (F.ds) along any path from point 1 and 2 which is V2-V1...thus K2-V2 = K1-V1( AN INVARIANT quantity for conservative system)..Whether to minimise that is it taken as LAGRANGIAN??/

    It is not correct to imply that Newton’s laws are somehow equivalent to the Lagrangian method. The latter is only when you know the generalized coordinates that respect constraints. Newton’s laws are more general. Lagrangians have to be derived from Newton’s laws for holonomic constraints.

    The us treasry came back their highest intrest in over a year as b tc dropped although it did plug the week's lows at nearer 53K, the latest dip to 54k highlights it’s correction after hitting all time highs of 6Ik.The dip came in tandem with gain in treasry b ones however, while fundng rates also cooled bullish sentiment g ained beyond spot price action. Long term bond warning compounds the topic of instittional invovement bringing significant announcements from prospective large volume crporate invstors and removed any doubt that the instittional scene will transform.
