It's strange - both Episode 7 and Episode 8 followed the game very closely, but I liked Episode 8 a significant amount more. Maybe it's because of David's actor, since I really like the added preacher stuff, and actually showing that he feeds a large group of people with his “meat”. And then, there's the ending! I would say it's even more intense than in the game, although both versions are amazing.
Thanks for showing all the comparisons, they show followed the lines even more closely than I thought! I'm excited for the last episode and hopes it will end the way the game does :)

I still way prefer game Ellie and Ashley Johnson's performance, especially the immediate aftermath of her hacking David. The is so much desperation in the way she said "Joel" after he says "oh baby girl". It absolutely wrecks me every time... Bella is not far but not quite for me. But it's probably her best scene in the entire season yet.
I think Bella is fantastic as Ellie, but Ashley gave a god-tier performance. Nobody was ever going to match that.

The show chose to go a fair bit harder, with like the explicitly attempted rape, how nuts Ellie goes when she kills him, the fact that Joel isn’t there to pull her away and even the music choice being more sad and depressing rather than playing All Gone to invoke Sarah in that moment and letting the diegetic audio cut out entirely for the music. It’s different and I think it’s the best of what it can be, the David scene is more horrific in the show, so they can’t do the reunion the same way.
I have a personal preference for the game, because I love how the scene is executed in the burning building, the warm lighting of the moment, the music cutting out and some other executional stuff, but also, the show made me a lot more uncomfortable, so in an emotionally biased way I can’t yet bring myself to like it as much because I have a more negative emotional association with the scene, I was angrier at David for being far more rapey, more distressed by Bella’s devastating performance, so the scene just makes me feel way worse than the game does, so I guess my brain is just defaulting to whichever of the two makes me feel less bad.
It’s incredible though, absolutely phenomenal.
Yea, the episode was excellent, though I missed the ellie -david team up so new viewers could be more manipulated into thinking he is a nice guy, and I absolutely like the Game reunion scene better, with ellie stopping only because Joel had to manually remove her. Also the bloddied machete handle shot at the end.

The interesting thing is the show has been so tame compared to the game , like the show is the PG13 version, but contrary to that they took the attempted Rap3 from suggested in the game (Ellie saying “he tried to”) to what we saw.

Do you think maybe that was the intention, lol? She is 14 and is holding up two grown men. If it seems unnatural then that is because it is. This is her first time doing this. Gun is too heavy for her. It’s cold as hell. She deepens her voice to sound more mature but it comes off as not very intimidating. She doing her best and that’s why her character is great.

There's no denying it, people say that if they are in a apocalypse then they will be tough. But in reality no one is (kinda).
I’m not the biggest fan of the show but one thing I do consistently praise and appreciate about it is how much they make me realize that Ellie is a young child. Ashley Johnson played her like a snarky teenager/young adult and it’s even more glaring to me how crazy it is. She’s a grown so I understand but I actually perform the television version of Ellie now.
@@genericwhiteguy2910 Ellie from the game feels legendary especially in tlou2, only the original Ellie from the game can live up to a character like Lara Croft with bloody scars and intimidating personality that reassemble to a killing machine, something Bella Ramsey could never achieve because her personality is forced and exaggerated to the point of absolute cringe, in general, Bella seems to have been taken from movies like Spy kids or Sky high.

@@qsr1776 it depends, in a 20 year apocalypse, where you have good weapons, good tactics and you need to fight for yourself and the ones you love, what would you do to survive? some things are really unreal, but we're talking about fungus infections, is it realistically boring or is it telling a great story? Tv has always been unrealistic in basic aspects, even fictional video games have more realistic and human points than a lot of tv out there
