    Is this a Citroën C5 1.6 Thp ?
    I have in my dashboard also a orange display , but when the display is on as the display gets warmer it is difficult to read.

    Cant you just adjust the steering wheel away from the instrument cluster?

    • @mr_nice.
      @mr_nice.  3 роки тому +1

      No use friend. It is in it's lowest position, and still the whole assembly kicks the turn/wiper lever block.
      There is one other alternative, to unclip the vents with the bezel still there, and THEN you'll have enough room to manouver the assembly. I noticed that the vents are just clip on pieces, so with a bit of caution they can be unclipped, and move out of the way, so that the bezel will get "slimer" and will fit through the open sides, either left or right.
      The whole problem is basicaly the vents. If the vents are removed, then you can easily manouver the assembly, and actualy unscrew the cluster with the bezel still behind the wheel.
      As you can tell from this picture, there are 4 screws that hold it in place behind the bezel, and also a few clips.
      postimg.cc/BL34rSjX
      so if the vents are removed, maybe you can actualy unscrew them and remove the front bezel, leaving the cluster behind, and THEN you can unclip the wire loom behind the cluster and take it out.
      The official citroen documentation mentions removal of the steering wheel column....go figure.
      I suppose they mean just removing the bolt of the hight regulator securing mechanism, so it can drop down enough to take everything out.
      In any case, citroen mentions specificaly that the battery ground should be removed (after removing the key from the ignition and waiting about 5 minutes) when you attempt such an operation, and they don't mention the removal of the wiper/blinker lever block.
      However, since the cluster is going to be removed, they want us to disconnect the battery, so I guess in the same manner, the lever block could be removed too. Since the battery won't be connected.....
      Sorry for not going any further than that. I didn't have time and reason to do so. I just wanted to see what's behind there, and how it could be removed.
      Thanks for watching.

    thank you/ can i replace the right air vent without remove the handles?

      Pretty sure you can good buddy. Haven't tried it yet, but both vents are held in place with plastic tabs.
      Actualy, I'm guessing that removing the vents, may allow full removal of the bezel, without removing any levers or bolts or anything like that.
      I just haven't tried it.
      If you're good with your hands, might want to give it a try and let us know.
      Cheers.

    Man thanks for this vid. Helped me a lot removing my cluster. There are couple of things that i want to add. First one. You dont have to remove
    levers to work on bench with your cluster. Easiest way is to go under the column and remove two 13. Then you gonna have this extra 2-3 cm and you can take out your cluster. Second thing which is pain. DONT switch your cluster with your mates. BSI and cluster take always higher milage and you cannot reverse it. So if you mate has 300k miles and you will plug it in -> boom you will have 300k miles on your C5 as well

      @mr_nice.  3 роки тому +1

      haha......good to know....thanks for the tip.
      That trick with the two 13s was mentioned before, but seemed a bit too fuzzy and problematic, that's why I mentioned the levers. I think it's easier, even though I didn't remove it that far.
      I will eventualy try to remove it alltogether, but only by removing the side vents, just out of curiosity.
      The 13s you mention are for the bolt of the column locking mechanism, right? Is that correct?

      @michak7793 3 роки тому

      @@mr_nice. no worries :). Well, from the point were the cluster is allmost out we have 2 options -> official one for which you need to unscrew and remove both levers and for me both screws are kinda not that accessible mb really tiny torx or removing steering wheel.
      Second option -> remove lover cover -> no screws there just be gentle and you will be fine. After that just remove two bolts (72):
      ci.catcar.info/citroen/img/pr/96/00080196.jpg
      but remember just two bolts which are the closest to you. Just keep that in mind that you need to unscrew just ones which are the closest to you, you dont have to dive for other two.
      and that is it.

    • @mr_nice.

      @@michak7793 ....Yep, actualy I think that second option is the official from Citroen. They mention "Remove the steeering wheel column". I guess THAT is what they actualy mean.
      Awesom tips man. I'll try it.

      @@michak7793 ......hahaha...well, thanks a lot good buddy,
      the docbackup documents I have available mention the second one, that's why I lean towards the second option, not that the first is non feasible. All is good. I'm realy into it now. I'll try it some time.
      Cheers.

      I'm not realy sure about this amigo. There could be a dispute on the odometer. The X7 records the total mileage in the cluster too, and not only in the BSI.
      I'll have to ask a friend in a dealership to get info. Don't want to spread false information.

    Great video, very thorough! Out of curiosity, is this what you have to do to replace dashboard bulbs? Once again, superb stuff!

      Sure thing pal. Personaly I just didn't go any further. Didn't have any reason to.
      The actual cluster is held on the bezel with 4 screws from behind. Two on top, two on the bottom. This pic is a bit more enlightening
      postimg.cc/BL34rSjX
      The trick is to actualy pull the bezel out enough, so that you can actualy reach the screws.
      I guess the two vents block the way, but they can be removed from their clips, and this way I suppose you'll have enough room to maneuver the assembly, and unscrew the cluster.
      Citroen doesn't mention anything about removing the lever block behind the wheel or removing the column locking mechanism.
      They do however mention removing the whole steering wheel column......go figure! ! !
      Nah, I'm pretty sure the removal of the cluster is not so elaborate. But I'll have to try it to see for myself.
      I've had other inquiries about the actual cluster too, so I guess I'll get to it at some point. So you might wanna stay tuned.
      One thing I can say for sure though: there is another gear stick knobe fix comming soon. Peugeot 307.
      Thanks for dropping by.
