You have to leave the steam ironed clothes in the dry air until they are completed dried. Otherwise you will get some mold and fungus in your closet!!!

I guess ironing is a matter of skill. I've never had it. I seem to put more creases in that I get out. I should probably practice more, but my wife just gets impatient and takes over.. :)
I really liked the iron too. When I was a kid, I'd iron my dad's work shirts. But I did ironing for a friend and I just couldn't get it right like I used to? I couldn't get the settings right and I'd either burn the fabric or it wouldn't remove the wrinkles? I'm a young adult so it was really disappointing that I couldn't work an iron any more. I just bought a steamer and it's so wonderful. I'm not fond of the fact the garment isn't supposed to be placed down on a board because I without a doubt, always burn myself. I also don't like the steamer because I can't get it high enough for the steam to come out efficiently, so when the tube is finally placed right, the water spatters everywhere due to built up steam. Still getting the hang of it obviously, but it does it's job really well and no worries about burning fabric. Due to my physical health, I can't stand up for too long but I found I can sit down and steam at the same time. I just have to be mindful of the steamer tube sitting right. But I definitely agree about ironing between buttons is so much nicer than what the steamer can achieve for the space between buttons.
Ironing against a board every time. Appreciate your efforts sir but your steam iron looks like it cost $10 from Target and your ironing board is screaming out for some additional padding felt. Ironing is a chore that is made so much easier (and much more pleasurable!) when working with a bit more professional kit. I have a steam generator iron $320 and a steam iron $120 both Tefal: seems extravagant, but I iron a lot and the ROI for me is huge. Don’t struggle: invest in better kit. Love and ironing respect! 💗
Hi I too want to purchase both a steam iron and a hand held steamer. But I have a question about the steam iron,. How much power would i need a steam iron to be for ironing clothes such as shirts, button shirts, pants? cause I see steam irons have that wattage levels such as 1,300 watts and saw one that is 3,100 watts. Do i need that powerful. Can I steam iron my graphic t-shirts as well?

Just last week I attended a demonstration in Mogadishu Somalia against wrinkled cloths. Indeed "no one likes wrinkled cloths" and its a world wide issue... right after global warming
I only own an iron but use a cotton handkerchief sprayed with water to put on over stubborn creases or low temp fabrics to press. For example I just bought a linen blazer which came out the box with side creases that needed removing. The iron and handkerchief method worked well.
I’m definitely an iron guy! I spend at least 1-1/2 to 2 hours a night ironing lol. The funny part is I manage a chain of 9 dry cleaners lol. I will send all my clothes there to be dry cleaned or washed and then pressed but when I get it home I use my own starch (I don’t like the way any cleaners starch smells ).
Steamer is very good to use when it comes to fix those wrinkles and it is more gentle to the shirts. I use an iron mostly but the i often use a towel between the iron and the shirt because the fibers can get worn out because of the intense heat from the iron.
CONSIDER: Have your shirts. laundered professionally. Half of mine medium starch hangers, other half medium starch and boxed for travel. Cheap money, always crisp, always ready. Busy men typically iron in hotels for emergencies only...just saying.
My boyfriend loves his steamer but I find it totally useless. I like those creases where creases OUGHT TO BE!!! I was not impressed how that steamer worked on that shirt. It took too much time and did a subpar job in my opinion. I like to starch my shirts also. My partner however seems to do a really good job with his steam iron. Must be his technique. I also think he cheats and uses the iron when he has to. I will try his steamer on my sports and dress coats. Great tip! Maybe freshen up a wool sweater too? I would never iron those. When they start looking ruffled, I have them dry cleaned.
You can buy steamers that will give you the desired creases, and not to expensive either. They have a mechanism, that looks a little like hair straightening tongs, but do a magnificent job :-)
At my high school graduation of over 1300, the one thing I noticed and many many others did as well, was that my graduation attire was flawlessly ironed. My mother who is 90 years old today was a Wonder Woman from the golden era of years gone by. Her talents as a seamstress were amazing - creases, cuffed pants, hems, etc to perfection. The three men in the family always looked precise and professional - as she wanted us to look. I favored the iron up to the time I switched from silk lined wool slacks to polyester everything now basically. I now save so much in dry cleaning, and the steamer works so much better than the iron for such fabrics. And, the Conair steamer from Costco can crease - but not to the level of an iron. I do miss wearing the finer clothes of yesterday, but the quality, price and functionality of today’s fabrics make it a hard choice to overlook. Thanks again for another great video.

I never iron my clothes we give to a person who irons our clothes and takes very cheap price for it . Same for cleaning home .Domestic helpers are very cheap here . Seems there are downside of living in devloped world

Question: All cotton shirt i.e. Robert Graham designer, label says cold iron, worker at Robert Graham store says you can use a hot iron turn shirt inside out first, a tailor of fine clothes told me I can use a hot iron. Your thoughts on this and any role for a steamer with such a shirt. Nice vid!

I sometimes use a steamer, sometimes iron + distilled water spray & I have had the dry cleaners wash & press some shirts (not ideal) & here’s my ignorant question: if using a washer & dryer (water + heat) can cause some fabrics to shrink, why doesn’t the steamer (water + heat) cause the same problem? That's a great question! Probably has something to do with prolonged heated air in the dryer instead of just a few seconds of heated water vapor. Just my guess. :)

This is the blind leading the blind. That's not a garment steamer. You can't compare an iron to a steamer when you don't have a proper garment steamer, or even a proper iron for that matter. That steamer is for cleaning grout lines and stone countertops. And that iron looks like a dollar store find. Get proper equipment before making comparisons between the two.
You're right. If you want a nice, crisp shirt...you have to iron. But...if you just want wrinkles out, can't beat steaming. I also think steaming is much easier on fabric too. I can cut down on washing as well. The steam sanitizes, so, unless something is actually stained or noticeably dirty, steam cleaning, with a spray deodorizer seems to cut down on the wear by laundering. And nothing quickly removes wrinkles on coats and slacks like a steamer. Do the work the night before, and you're dry and wrinkle-free to go next day.
E Galindo I once heard if you roll your clothes up if they are already pressed before packing in luggage they retain the shape without wrinkles. I haven’t tried this yet but seems like it would work.
I just bought a conair steamer, this thing is a beast. But for me, steaming takes too much effort. I'm crouching over it, fumbling with the hangars and such. It's not designed for what i'd like, I think i'm grabbing an iron. The ironing board does most of the work for you

I'm tryna find how to do collars on polo shirts and dress shirts that want to curl up. Cannot iron a polo cause of the material. Maybe i'll just get it straight and spray starch on it.
Not a very efficent way to iron. To get better results you start with the collar, cuffs and then do buttons (on the WRONG side). then do the shoulders and then the sides and middle of the shirt.
Hang your clothes in a small closet and then put a humidifier in it and set it and shit the door. You can steam a bunch of shirts instantly in minutes. It’s my go to.
If you guys hang your shirt/t-shirts you will have good results, (Keep in mind you have to hang them imiditly and not let them dry while wrinkled, hang them with clothes stick, in that way it will dry straight). If you start ironing you clothes then you will need to iron it every single time, because you have made you clothes weak.
John, if it's a dress shirt, then ironing it gives a "crisp" look for the business day, while the steam finish leaves the impression that you have had the shirt on for half a day. But on the other hand I have a number of shirts made from linen, wool, etc., that I like to wear with my tweed and textured wool sports coats, and I think those shirts and coats look better steamed than ironed. For me it's the finished look that matters, not how you get it. Phil.
Wow! This is like traveling through time! Your videos were a bit different back in the day! I have one of those big steamers that you hang the clothes on and has a hose attachment. They are awesome! So easy to get the wrinkles out! The only problem I have occasionally is that it spits a couple of drops of hot water onto the garment. I find that if you straighten the hose out for a few seconds it lets that condensate collecting in the tube run back down towards the heater and get heated enough to change back into steam. I use a steamer daily, it’s a great tool!

A steamer is made for refreshing a jacket. Not for the same result as ironing a shirt. You’re trying to use a hammer to screw in a nail.

You should iron your shirts inside out (except for the sleeves) as the hot plate will ruin the fabric over time

The steamer doesn't get rid of all wrinkles it seems (maybe 90%) and you have fill it up about once for every shirt which is pretty inconvenient.
Some steamers are made out of stainless steel so it can be used for steaming and ironing.

If you start ironing you clothes then you will need to iron it every single time, because you have made you clothes weak.

I'm so late with this comment, but when I use a steam iron my clothes get wet. That doesn't seem normal... what am I doing wrong?
The steam will make it slightly damp, but not wet. Should dry almost instantly. Maybe a poor iron?

John, if it's a dress shirt, then ironing it gives a "crisp" look for the business day, while the steam finish leaves the impression that you have had the shirt on for half a day.
But on the other hand I have a number of shirts made from linen, wool, etc., that I like to wear with my tweed and textured wool sports coats, and I think those shirts and coats look better steamed than ironed. For me it's the finished look that matters, not how you get it. Phil.

I have one of those big steamers that you hang the clothes on and has a hose attachment. They are awesome! So easy to get the wrinkles out! The only problem I have occasionally is that it spits a couple of drops of hot water onto the garment. I find that if you straighten the hose out for a few seconds it lets that condensate collecting in the tube run back down towards the heater and get heated enough to change back into steam.
I use a steamer daily, it’s a great tool!
