      Why would you want a 4 pot in the NSX? There are turbo/supercharger kits for a C30A aswell.

    • @kanggoo57
      @kanggoo57 7 років тому

      +Timothy B the k24/K20 is a insane 4 pot though with some mods

    • @jomaha9227
      @jomaha9227 7 років тому

      Timothy, because the K20/24 can make more power, reliably, for much much less in cost. There are plenty of places that will build 800-1000hp K20/24 for you, reliably, but not a lot of C30A (if any?) running reliably at that power level. It's just the aftermarket has done a lot lot more development for the K20/24, so it's a much more mature platform for modifying to 500+hp levels than the C30A. Not to say the C30A is a bad engine, but it's just a little more exotic, rare, and as a result the aftermarket support never got developed to the same level of maturity. Do a little research on the topic and you'll see how great of an engine the K20/24 is and how great the aftermarket is for it.

    • @timothyb7749
      @timothyb7749 7 років тому

      These are things that I knew but the question still stands. Why would you want a 4 pot in an NSX? I´d rather keep a 400WHP V6 then swap in a 4 cilinder. Power isn´t everything and if we´re swapping for 800+ HP you might as well go for an LS. Talking about modding I personaly wouldn´t even turbo/supercharge it, I think an N/A build on the NSX C30A/C32B would fit the spirit of the car much better then huge power numbers. That´s completely hypothetical though, I don´t have the money to spare for an NSX let alone to mod it. I´ve never actually modded any of my cars, I prefer reliability over preformance, if I want a faster car I´ll just buy one.

      I am not knocking the NSX but it does have the typical Honda boringness with its relatively quiet engine and boardroom designed looks. now that being said I would imagine that the NSX and the Chevrolet Corvette are the only two reliable sports cars ever made in that era.

    Unless you're planning to workover the engine, including a significant redline increase, feels like an AP2 (late production) S2000 cluster, with 8000rpm redline, would have been a better match. I'd always be annoyed by those missing 1000 rpm with that cluster.

      Same thought here... Though when I had my AP1, I too preferred how the tach spans the entire binnacle, which is why I think he went with the AP1. The AP2, with it's matching 8000rpm redline makes much more sense. But Hoovie always comments on stupid choices he makes... Thus : )

      I can tell you how it sold for that, I said in his original video it would “sell” for an insane amount. I’m actually surprised it only “sold” for 10.5k to be honest.
      The reason it sold for that much is because none of the bidders ever intended on paying for it. They did it because they think it’s funny and eBay doesn’t do ANYTHING to non paying bidders anymore. It really fucks hoovie because he will still get charged for it and will have to file a claim to get those reversed.

Different camera angles would add some visual variety and allow us to take in the beauty of the NSX while you'd be talking about the modifications. An exhaust or back angle (like the Pulp Fiction one) would make the car look hella cooler.

    Damn dude, generic looking? In what way could this car possibly be seen as generic looking especially with you mentioning sports cars of that era. Nothing and I mean nothing looked like this in those times. This silhuette was until maybe Zonda one of the most recognizable sport cars images ever. A freakin classic. I feel like youre making a joke and every word means the opposite. This car was the opposite of boring in all regards, from the design, to the development of the car with Senna, to the for those (and watching Best Motoring up until not so long ago)times amazing handling/performance beating cars decades younger/more power,, reliable fun engine, daily drivabilty, etc etc... The one and only "boring" part might be the interior which true, doesnt stand out but who cares with it looking and handling like that.

    My son had a 1991 NSX. It had over 120,000 miles on it when he bought it but it still ran like a bat out of hell! He then modified the suspension, three times, sticky tires and new wheels, transmission work to make the gears closer in ratio, new modified rear end, a couple of types of stainless headers and mufflers, larger fuel injection and a new supercharger. I refused to drive it after all that being afraid of what might happen! Don't get me wrong, I wasn't afraid of it being former owner of several muscle cars with three pedals but more that something would happen to it while in my possession. It was a very fun reliable car.

    Exhaust mods - ok. But you have to admit at least on video this sounds poor.
    Wing - so so.
    Interior - wrong.
    Dashboard "update" - rice.

    Honestly the engine and sound IS boring. Its not a V10 or v12 but its reliable. The design is the pinnacle of car shapes though.

      To be honest, even with this new exhaust on, it still sounds like my girlfriend's Mini Clubman S All4 (a 30K$ car with a 2L turbo engine...) Not really supercar territory.

    Honda could have made it not boring looking/sounding, but they did. Look at the Honda Beat its anything but boring and cost 1/4 of the NSX new. Price isn't a factor.

    I'd say the NSX looks wise has aged far better than many of its contemporaries - it has pretty much perfect proportions, so it has that classic look that never looks out of date.

  • @marksuave25
    @marksuave25 7 років тому

    This is one of the few cars that essentially won't age terribly. I've seen maybe, maybe 3 of these cars in person in my entire 36 years of living. Still looks as gorgeous today as it did the day it was new.
