A random man she met and did not have a real relation ship with. She was a tramatized girl who like others make a mistake. That is what the little said about Alex I understand happened. She tried to fund him but her fathers men dragged her back after confirming at the doctor in Helena that she was pregnant after the night with Alex. Nothing more was explained and I agree we could have learned a little more but Alex did not matter to Jess, she was just a very lonely girl.
