It sucks that educational content always takes a backseat when a company like UA-cam tries to optimize for whatever is most profitable. I really appreciate the creators who still try to make videos that matter and have some positive effect on people. But I agree that it's unfortunately not sustainable unless your channel is already absolutely massive.
Yup, it's a dying business. I barely get $1.50 per 1000 views. Compare this to let's say any garbage gaming channel, where they get rewarded with $7 - $15 per 1000 views.
Education gets punished more any more these days, due to everyone dumbing down via TikTok and the like

You were a major influence for me to actually enjoy and explore math on my own when I was in calculus in high school (it will always be Wheeler's formula), I really appreciate the content you have made- it's sad that UA-cam isn't supporting educational content like it should. I have abandoned all rigor and am in university now pursuing a degree in electrical engineering (with a totally unrigorous engineering clock in my room), I hope your channel will make it through to my graduation, I'd love to donate when I'm raking in the engineer bucks instead of student loans. I feel sad that your long term sponsor drops out. I feel that it comes to a point that how one can generate a stable amount of content without really sticky in front of the camera for hours. But at the same time, if one views your mathematics videos as entertainment, it basically limits any serious ideas about large or extensive projects.

UA-cam has been so abysmally poor at being good to their creators, especially those that genuinely matter and provide something valuable to numerous communities worldwide. The platform has completely fallen apart after introducing Shorts and hopping on the bandwagon of short-form videos that Instagram Reels and Tiktok have introduced. It has been detrimental to how viewers now perceive content, many of whom now merely watch content for the sake of occupying their time and keeping their attention, rather than actually gaining anything from it. It's devastating to hear you've been so significantly impacted this, and we can only hope that things get better from here. Been with you since 2021, and will be sticking with you for the future. Hell, I'm currently applying to college to be a mathematics major and you're part of that reason, enough that you were mentioned in my personal statement. In the meantime keep going at your own pace, and if you need sacrifice time on this channel to care for yourself for the things that UA-cam failed to provide, then don't hesitate to do so. Helllo papa flammy. first, I want to thank you for your videos, I have been following you for more than 4 years now since the pandemic, and I have watched all your videos and try to support as much as I can with patreon and merch. I went into uni to do math and now will be pursuing my master's and hopefully do some meaningful research in differential geometry. This is all thanks to you and you helped me go through some dark phases of my life, I hope you can see this as a positive reason to continue your videos because you have a talent. I also don't want you to live a miserable life or to always be stressed, I was wondering if you could resume your previous job as a teacher, and keep youtube as a hobby? Maybe at some point, the situation will improve and you can likve fully off youtube and other similar activities. Life is rough man, keep it up, there is always an end to the tunnel

Your content is, in terms of quality, quite a lot like prof. Michael Penn's, and I think it takes an enourmous endeavor to create a video without errors and to the point. There aren't many people capable of doing and willing to do that. I can totally imagine not being able to keep it all up especially when home renovation and kids come into play. Even if you create one video once a quarter that is 45 minutes long - I am in, no matter what. It's the quality, not the quantity that attracted me to your channel, and I am not going anywhere from here. Ahmed Integrals, weird results involving Zeta function, Gamma function popping up suddenly along the way - that's how I see it. Don't go for the shorts and never aim low. Wishing you all the best.
