    I think I cried when I got sea access. Back then, very few groups had made it past Tenzen/Omega fights and my static group (btw, CoP static groups: nice subject for a future video) we spent 2 weeks preparing for that battle, which included a dry run too. When I jumped to Al'Taieu, OMG.... I was shocked... I was so happy, it was so beautiful... The scenery, the sense of accomplishment. I'm 34 and I have been playing games since forever, but I never experienced anything like that before. Hands down my best gaming experience ever.

      Tony Pugliese I loved my static group. My only gutting thing was it always felt like I was in a rush. Being in the UK and most players were US I was always in a rush to skip CSs to be on track for the quests

      I remember carrying a bunch of people through COP missions starting with the mammet battle. I just hated farming materials to weaken the Mammets. I was a ninja tank which made a lot of the encounters easy. Omega was a little tough but I got everyone through eventually lol.

    I may have cried when I got to lufaise meadows. I was finally in the land of elite JP and NA HNMLS's. Damn the subligar farming was a nightmare, but for a SAM it was the best thing to TP with after converting, even all the way up to 75. Also killing Ouryu took me 3 months, I think over 40 trys of fail pick up groups before I finally formed a set with some great players.

  • @-KingCobraJFS

    It literally took me YEARS to make it to the Meadows lol. Heartpounding battles to get there. The feeling I got when finally zoning in and wondering what came next was amazing. I was Shakey and so happy and my group was still going crazy happy. Everything in this game was such an achievement. Heck even the run to jeuno for the first time! The difficulty made every new step such a big deal.

    Awesome video. CoP was, to me, the best expansion in FF11. Making it to sea for the first time and finishing the storyline made all the headaches experienced while getting there completely worth it.
    For worst Promyvion experience, it was easily waiting an hour for a party to form, waiting another 30 minutes for everyone to assemble, spending another hour climbing to the boss chamber, then having "that guy" confess that they didn't bring the Hysteroanima and Psychoanima that were almost necessary to complete the fight. This would happen...Every. Single. Party. Attempt. Sometimes it was half your party that would neglect to bring them, completely invalidating all the time spent getting there and making you question life.
    Regarding both experience vs zones, I think experience matters more for enhancing your thoughts on a zone than the zone itself. A recollection of great memories can both solidify your opinion of an already great zone or completely ruin it.
    As for the lifting of level cap for Promyvion zones, while I do understand your point and miss feeling like a stranger in a distorted land, I like to think that with time our PCs reached a new level of power akin to the NPC's of Vana'diel and can now traverse the Promyvions by themselves, yet the fear engraved into our minds by the CoP missions - not to mention the alien-like lifeforms and bleak landscape - still makes us hesitant to journey through Promyvions every single time.
    Looking forward to more great FF11 vids. Keep up the awesome work!

    I was reminded of going through Phomiuna Aqueducts with a larger group of people for the mission, like more than a full party, but not enough for 2 parties... and I'll never forget the tank we had getting doomed by a taurus and then spamming items to remove it, finally getting the doom removed after 7 holy waters, then promptly got oneshot by Triclip. Good times.

    Purgonorgo Island's western beach at sunset on Firesday is the best place to be ANYWHERE in Vanadiel. Also, some of my most frustrating moments include the prommy NMs (the ones at the 'spire') we failed this 10 times before beating it with almost a wipe. But prommy Holla holds a lot of nostalgia for me.. questing for the Tactics Pearl with my Taru NPC.
    Love these Vids!

    CoP was totally my favorite expansion/experience in any game ever. I still remember spending a whole day with my static party trying to take out Tenzen to get into sea and the feeling we all got when we finally made it in. I thought the movapolos zones were pretty neat too, and the palace area straight ahead when you zone into Sea was really cool, most memorable to me because I was soloing the guys in some area there as a BLM just nuking/sleeping them and finally dinged 75 on my first job there, and then going through there to do all the jailers and finally unlock jailer of love(and get dicknailed by absolute virtue)
    I miss soloing bombs in Uleguarand range as my smn too and the jormungand fight there was fun. I'd really like to play this game again if I can get access to my account.. stopped playing around wings of the goddess and never got to experience post level 75 life

    It's not a complete zone but more of a BC arena, but the Empyreal Paradox is by far the coolest zone in FFXI to this date.
    You are literally floating above Vanadiel in space in the deepest bowls of a chunk of Qufim Island looking down on the world as you fight the keeper of the apocalypse Promathia, a literal god along side Prishe and Selh'teus. Such an incredible moment I will never forget.

There are aspects of the other zones I love (escaping from Oldton Movalpolos anyone?) but the only other one I'd have added is Pso'Xja. I remember going through the CoP missions when they truly were hard. Mammets for whatever reason being the biggest roadblock to progression. I was pretty salty when they nerfed the difficulty, like I wanted everyone to suffer as I had suffered. But when I got that ring, that sweet sweet Rajas Ring. You may as well have welded it to my finger because it would never come off.

    2005 the Promys were level 30 cap, so did not matter too much how high a level you were. Did help to be level 40+ just for having more experience with your job. In Eden we now have a method of 1-first get groups of 2-4 people to farm for animas, so you can get the potion to help take down the final boss. 2-get a firm party of 6 with an alliance of 2 extra tanks, or an alliance of 2 parties. It REALLY helps on the last area, to have the extra tanks aggro-pull chain the mobs, so the rest can just run to the entrance of the final boss. 3-have a plan of how to use the special potions, who will use first. 4-consider party makeup, with either a SMN, or 2 rangersarrows, or 2 blm, to concentrate far off power. 5- always have a WHM, a BRD is not enough. 6- Reraise spell cannot be used until level 34, all mages should have a reraise potion that they use.

    "I've never once said that correctly..." Nonsense. You nailed it, first try on the video. Thanks for a great video again! Such a great place is this world as a whole. My worst story was the first time I tried to run a promy as well. We had a guy named Aseroth in our Linkshell... his patience was as well-polished as his wit for naming characters (Aseroth, coming straight from WoW)... he just typed in all caps at us the whole time, and complained about how expensive the trip was for him since he was the rng, and all his ammo was so expensive, and we weren't worth it, and how did we even get any jobs to lvl 30 because we were all so hopeless... the dude was totally awesome himself though. He'd tell us about it all the time. But anyway, we beat Dem after about 4 hours of trying... which was right after he left the party.

    I don't know if you remember it, but for the first couple of weeks after CoP was released, the promys were virtually impossible to do. Everybody failed. I remember when my ls decided to do a run. We had a full alliance and just could not get past the 2nd level's receptacle in Dem. Must have wiped 5 or 6 times before giving up. SE did adjust the difficulty shortly afterwards and they were still tough, but doable, but those first two weeks... sheesh

    Tav Outpost was where I’d spend most of my downtime, once I got far enough in CoP to have AH access. Good music, and not many people there.
    Promys were one of my favorite zones also because of panty raids. My favorite time being when Eba popped and someone decided it would be a good idea to pull her. It was a wipe of hilarious proportions.
    I spent so much time in Sea. Besides having horrible luck learning BLU spells there, it was also perfect for skilling up enfeebling magic on the goldfish

      I was picked up last minute by a group who needed a lvl 30+ pld with lvl 30 gear (CoP had been out for only a few days). They even took the time to help me get all the cutscenes so I could enter the Promy's. Then went all the way to the top of Promy dem which took a long time since nobody had been there before, I clicked on the door to enter only to have my power go out and lose my connection. A few hours later I got back on and they ended up finishing all 3 with the person who originally didn't show.

    while on a personal level experiences in a zone are what make or break an entire zone (Valkurm dunes.... now everyone reading this just shuddered) i can fully understand that while making a list like this would require one to take a step back and have to primarily take visual factors into consideration and general experiences that most people can relate with as a method with which to measure each zone. That is one of the reasons that your videos not only pull in many people to watch but also return players to the game with the ffxi bug bite, you leave YOUR experiences at the door and treat even unfavored views with equal care and consideration. I can easily see why some of the zones were left out and time constraints making it impossible (and pointless) to mention every zone within the expansion. wonderfully done with a critical view point that still strums the heart strings of memory, "they are called 'experience points' for a reason..." -every ffxi player

    Started playing at Xbox 360 release shortly after. Spending time leveling, and unlocking other jobs (SMN was my first 75), I just now am realizing..... I hardly spent ANY time in the CoP zones LOL! The bulk of my time played ran up through Treasure of Aht Urgan, and a little into Wings of the Goddess. Mind you, I played DURING those times, but I don't think I ever really participated in the content from the expansions. I only got a tiny taste of the ToAU campaign

    I did around 32 Promyvion runs, only once succeeding in Mea, and then just ditching it, focusing on other stuff. Boy, I remember the perfect strategies, or that one time when a really emotional player had a hissy fit, and just let himself die, to ruin our run. Really nasty, but thankfully the leader saw this coming and had a backup guy coming, so we still reached the boss (even if we did fail in the end, heh)

    "Unlike the other four mothercrystals, the one at Al'Taieu is devoid of warmth. Selh'teus explains that Al'Taieu and its mothercrystal were sunk into the sea and pulled into another dimension, but that it is descending into Vana'diel as its light is slowly being drained. My worst story of Chains of Promathia was the 8-3 When Angels Fall fight against the four Ix'zdei. We walked in, buffed up, and pulled; the RDM NMs casted bind and silence on our PLD, and the BLMs casted Sleepga 2 & Thundaga 4. The sleep managed to catch everyone. It was an instant wipe, we laughed so hard. We managed to best it after 5 or 6 attempts, but it was brutal.
    We went back to visit the fight in helping an LS member much later after ToAU had dropped and got set for big nukes... only for the NMs to cast tier 1 damage spells on the tank. We failed it purposely to test, and laughed when we confirmed that the nerf to the 8-3 fight was to force the NMs to cast low level magic on initial pull.

    Let us not forget another reason sea was such a memorable and great zone and it only needs to be said with two words. Absolute.....Virtue. That boss alone is still legendary to this day for being a prick to kill. Pandemonium Warden may have done something similar a few years later but it was no where near as memorable since AV already did it years prior. Every time AV would pop after killing Jailer of Love I'd be excited even though I knew my group at the time likely wasn't going to actually fight it lol.

    will you start putting the name of the zone you're talking about on the screen somewhere? I have trouble understanding your pronunciation on a lot of them, or I may have pronounced them differently back then...and it'd be nice to see the name

    CoP literally made me rage quit FFXI for 2 years. I HATED IT! The level caps made completing the expansion way more difficult than it needed to be. I never actually finished CoP until I came back during the Abyssea era where the caps were lifted. I leveled my THF to 90 (the cap at the time) and then soloed the entire thing. And I must say, I didnt feel the least bit bad about it. I felt like I finally got my Just rewards that I was robbed of all those years ago. Because with the level caps, unless you had a solid static or linkshell to do it with, you were screwed.

    • @VoreTechz1985
      @VoreTechz1985 5 років тому

      I did all of CoP with pick up groups of random people. I actually found it easier to do it this way because I could pick and choose which jobs I wanted for each fight. If you do a static you were stuck with whatever people had leveled.

    Until somebody with half a brain at Squeenix thought it would be a good idea to remove the level caps of the CoP zones, CoP was a waste of hard disk space on my computer for years, when i bought the expansion, i basically paid $60 for Bibiki Bay area =/ as nobody would help clear the stupid promy missions.

    • @Huntin4GamesChannel
      @Huntin4GamesChannel  5 років тому

      not sure what the promy clear experience was like after launch, but I could see that being a big problem. They were tough missions, and were a lot easier for anyone that got in on the initial excitement

    • @k11keeper
      @k11keeper 5 років тому

      That's too bad. I leveled and geared a range of jobs to 30 , 40 and 50 to help dozens and dozens of people get past that content. It was one of the more fun experiences helping others out. I never really enjoyed helping farm lvl 50 cap items or coffer keys but would almost always jump at the chance to help out with lower level CoP missions simply because of the fun factor.
