  • In the early morning of March 18, 1990, two thieves walked into the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum and walked out with 13 pieces of art. Today, those artworks have never been recovered.
    In "Last Seen," a podcast about the Gardner heist, we try to find out why: wbur.org/lastseen

    It was an inside job. The thieves were probably employed by the museum at one time or maybe the guards at that time helped the thieves, but it definetly looks like an inside job. No thief spends that much time at the crime scene, unless, they are confident no one is gonna bother them because they know the routine. It's a crime scene just any, but the thieves are not.

      Sure. It was well known among mobsters in the 1980s that the Gardner Museum was susceptible to a heist. And sure enough..

    I think the theifs spoke with the security guard, thats why it took so long time to leave and so on. The security guard was helping them!

    Too many suspicious actions with the guards. I was stunned to read FBI and others dismiss the involvement of the guards. Perhaps that a ploy to have them let their guard down.

    How come they never mention the door that is behind the sea of Galilee? I personally called the Gardner museum and asked Anthony Amore where that door LED to and he told me it led to a lab. Isn't it possible that for 40 minutes when they were not detected that the thieves were actually inside the building taking artwork to the lab to be taken somewhere else later?

      @Caligula That isn't the case, some of them might be resistant to being rolled but with enough force it is possible.

    It's probable that all the stolen pieces have been widely dispersed and are now stored in private vaults around the world. Sorry, but after so many years and no sightings of these coveted pieces, they will likely never be seen by anyone but the unscrupulous ( and obviously very wealthy ) buyers ever again in our lifetimes.

    The most frustrating thing is that security was so bad. You have billions of dollars of art, why was there not top of the line, up to date security technology and why are you hiring college hippies to guard it? I feel bad that they where stolen but it's kind of on the museum directors as well.

    • @bradmacarthur3810
      @bradmacarthur3810 2 роки тому

      Absolutely. It was known for years among mobsters that the museum was vulnerable to a possible heist. The fact they spent 81 minutes in the museum proved their point. Meticulous planning on the mobsters behalf certainly paid off.

      I think it was a different time. I use to go in several museums where no one paid attention because at the time no one would have done such a thing. Now of course it is a common day occurrence.

    Bonjour,
    Selon le FERMATON ( La plus petite unité de la conscience humaine) et la loi d'équilibre d'Einstein, mathématiquement les 13 toiles volées au musée Gardner se retrouvent à l'intérieure d'un cercle de rayon 3 miles à partir du musée Gardner étant le centre du cercle.
