Fire Alarm Activation #8

Quick test of a Siemens MXL-V system in a large academic building. System only loops the voice message and has no tones.
Components (all Siemens/Pyrotronics):
MXL-V FACP
I-SM70-S75S Speaker/Strobe
HMS-S Pull Station
Signal coding is continuous for all devices. There is no strobe synchronization in this system.
Below components are not seen in this video.
Variety of Siemens smoke detectors.
There may be a PAD-3 and/or MKB-4 in this system too.

Why does it pause at “by the”

I think the voice evac messages are split into phrases, so the transition between phrases there isn't that clean.

The DMC-1 (which is the voice and tone card for the MXL) has around 300 different phrases and what not to choose from, so you could create a new message entirely just by picking the phrase. The reason for the pause is because it could have something either added after it or be replaced entirely by a different phrase so instead of having "By the nearest exit" you could instead having something like "Stand by for further instructions". The whole message you hear is basically a bunch of different phrases mashed together to create a message
