Whaaat? I watched the whole video and only now I realised how underrated it is? :O it's such wholesome content, that it's difficult for me to believe and Sarah seems so friendly, I enjoyed every second of this video :D
Thanks for taking us through this Sarah, very much enjoyed and appreciated this as I want to get back into making 'proper bound' books. I have been making other styles for a while, but this year I want to get back into the more traditional again.
At 6:23 the way they make hide glue is just by boiling hide in water then taking the hide out after a couple of hours of boiling then you would boil the remaining liquid until it gets really thick. Boom you have hide glue
Love it! Learned so much! Going to start making my own sketchbooks If you don’t have a book press then what can we do? Also ripping the front board from the book fabric, wouldn’t it have been easier to just cut it to size? Saving fabric as well? And how would you make book binding fabric, can I use paper and glue?
She didn’t cut the paper block so it’s uneven on the end of the sections that where folded into each other they make a overlap, no problem gives the artistic touch as she also said :) but missed the step.
I sincerely wish that people who make 'How to... ' videos would start by stating EXACTLY what they are going to make. I.E. I am going make and bind a book using a story that I have written and printed off. The book will contain 'X' number of pages. I will fold the paper, stitch the paper, trim the paper (while explaining all terminology and naming all tools that I am using). Oh, and yes, I have rehearsed this presentation so there will no waffling, no 'err' ing, and giggling. When the inner book is complete. I will explain how I make and attache the cover in the manner used in making the book.
Absolute crying shame about half the audio, so well shot, information I gathered is spot on, having a "fly on the wall" doc like this is great, but again shame about the audio.
It would be wonderful if the videographer would focus more on the process and less on the bookbinder. Ironically we would get more of a sense of the bookbinder as well as the process. Spend more time thinking through the presentation and less flying about please. It would be more interesting.
I frequently return to this video. It's amazing. The editing is so satisfying and engaging.
Loved this
This is really well shot. I could see this channel getting much larger. Thanks for making this!

This video is awesome! I feel I was a book binder in a past life. 😆📚
I’d love to be one now! 📚👩🏻🏫
Skilled quality work. I cover full then add corners- I’m a lousy measurer.

Great video! Where are the follow-ups???
Sarah is 😍🥰
Why are the L-ways expensive? They look like blocks of steel.
Was this shot at the North Bennet Street School?
Yes it was!
What was the STEP!!

How much is a bookbinding for a book please? 256 S.
she is sooooo cute (:
modern technology makes a better phone, but not a better book. handmade books are still the best
i couldn't watch the video as there was no sound. 😒
nice video, very bad audio, almost impossible to hear, at times...

the audio is really strange
There was a hvac unit that was basically right above her desk. I tried to do some noise reduction, but it was a little tricky.
@@AndTheirCraft try watching on a phone. Copyright background music maybe?

What’s wrong with the audio? It sounds great to me. Well mic’d 🎤
