Please choose Jermain Defoe as your assistant coach, he's the current under-18 coach for Spurs and he was the striker of Sunderland from 2015 to 2017 and he retired with them. Would be a realistic and great coach to get.

PCQ: You should change the formation to something less defensive because what's the point if the defence isn't good
The problem with having a player like Clark is that bigger teams will want to buy him if he keeps his performances that consistent… and it would always be the smarter decision for him to actually join that bigger team!
I’d use a two striker formation as though you’re scoring, it’s only Troy and Clarke scoring.
You should check big clubs who have high potential youngsters. For example Dortmund has Brunner who is like 65 rated. Cost around 2-3 mil I believe but when I was in my 7th seasons he was 98 rated.. lots of big clubs have quite cheap high potential youngsters who ain’t gonna get play time there.. if you can’t directly buy them. Loan them with option to buy if u smart in those deals you can definitely get some gems for a low price. Also regens / free agents and indeed youth academy are the best ways to build great future teams with low budget
I think on your other channel you could do a goalkeeper career mode as they don’t always get the recognition that they deserve and you could even try and win the ballon d’or with the goalkeeper by your overall rating. Also keep up the good work
PCQ: sign a new left back in the january transfer windo as huggins is pretty low rated and maybe focusing defensively would help your team
Try converting Pembele to LB and put him on an inverted full back training plan to increase his weak foot. It starts at 3 star and he has 79 potential so he would grow pretty fast and be a stronger option than Huggins long term.
PCQ You could use a Sunderland legend like Asamoah Gyan as your assistant coach....Love the series...
PCQ: Change your formation to 4-2-3-1, having one player in that holding position might be the reason why your defense gets exposed a lot, then convert Jobe to a CAM and give more freedom to your wingers

Honestly you need a new center midfeilder. While jobe has potential he isn't really the ideal cm for a promotion push. Maybe Luca De La Torre from Celta Vigo? He used to play in england and there are a lot of other americans thriving in the championship right now too.
In January you should sign the top scorer in the championship sammie szmodzic he can play cm cam and st and he plays for a poor team this season at Blackburn
