A lot of interesting theories to be made from this. I think Atari releasing the NES is the most interesting, because it would have totally changed the video game landscape as we know it and Atari would probably still be making consoles now.

That Atari NES with the angled-edged keyboard looked really cool.

Can't wait for the Konix Multi-System video, I read the article on the console in a Spectrum magazine over and over again, dreaming of the future of video games. And then it never happened.

This mish-mash of companies and consoles is interesting. I think of each console as very much that company, but this shows that it was really up to history and business decisions as to which console would be associated with which company. It's funny hearing these things like Nintendo Lynx or Atari Genesis. The company culture probably had a big influence once the hardware was designed, in terms of how they licensed games and their censorship policies.

I sometimes wonder how different the games industry would be if the Nintendo Playstation did come out, could be a good video.

I once heard that the original xbox was similar to the Sega arcade hardware. The Dream Cast could run Microsoft's Windows CE but some where along the line the partnership between Sega and Microsoft broke. Who knows but if it hadn't perhaps Sega would still be prominent in the console market rather than Microsoft.

There was a plan to make the Xbox backwards compatible with the Dreamcast and use Sega to distribute it in Japan. But apparently Bill Gates was a bit arrogant about it and decided they didn't need Sega.

Think of all the possible timelines we could've gotten. Atari NES, Nintendo playstation, etc , etc. I personally wish Microsoft bought SEGA so that sega could design their consoles

Yeah, I always thought Google should have bought Atari too with them both being Californian companies.

The famicomwas never supposed to be in a different in the us had the deal with atari & nintendo be signed, atari simply just would,ve distributed the famicom with their brand name, but they wouldn’t redesign the case of it at all,but i also think that if the famicom was released in the us in late 1983/early 1984, then it would,ve be an instant success, not untill the killer app supermariobros and duckhunt,i think the sales of the famicom would,ve been slooow until late 1985 with those mentioned games,
Also since atari wouldn’t have make much profit of this deal,i think they might have eventually step out of it to go alone once again.

Wrong, it was going to have a totally new case with an Atari badge on, there are mock-up images of this.
