    I spent two years living in Maun in the early 90's and travelled the whole area. Camped with a single cab Hilux with no AC, no power steering and no fridge. Just a swag and a cooler box. Definitely one of the highlights of my life.

    Yep it's the best feeling rocking up to a camp site cracking a beer and rolling a smoke , then in the morning having a coffee with a smoke bloody beautiful 😊

    When you're solo and remote, you are at your best. A bit lonely, paranoid, grumpy, expressive, and pure gold.

    How this channel gets so few subs and clicks will forever remain a mystery to me.
    This is some of the best Overland content on this platform.
    The builds are of the same high quality as the videography.
    I really love watching this channel with my family

    Hi Andrew, not a Red Duiker but a female Oribi. They tend to crouch when disturbed. In the mid 1970's there were a lot more to the South of Gweta but the numbers diminished in the 1980's. Thanks for evoking memories of my old stamping grounds well traveled in my 1974 SWB Land Rover.

    Enjoyed that.
    Elephants are so impressive.
    Giraffes àre really beautiful. Recently had a chance with grandchildren to feed a giraffe at the Western Plains Zoo at Dubbo in Australia. Giraffe eyelashes are so long.

    that was fun. A few weeks/month ago i commented that you please don't become a "grumpy old man". When your face suddenly appeared on the srcreen telling that you don't become i was reminded of my comment. Funny Moment (i know that your telling wasn't because of my comment, but it was a funny moment anyway) ;)

    Awesome Ep and spots, I to get lonely in the evenings and nights on my Solo Sorties away camping and fishing, Either up Cape York, Nhulunbuy or the kimberley. Last two trips but really one trip I did around 18,000ks and two months away.

    If not already done, an African guide would be a handy course Andrew. I wonder if people entering parks should do a quick course on rules and etiquette for example, keep 300 metres from water holes and move from herds approaching. Just like you showed in your videos.

    The only way I managed to stay up beyond 8pm while camping alone in Botswana, was by watching episodes of a TV series I'd pre-downloaded before leaving Australia. Then I managed 8:30 or even 8:45!

    G'day Andrew, thank you for the South Africa series it has me very interested. A quick question, I'm curious as to the step you have on the rear bar of the troopy. I'm currently doing a build on a troopy and I'm looking at rear step options. Can you enlighten me as to what brand and were I could find that fold down step.
    Much appreciated in advance.
    Stay safe 👍

    One more thing Andrew, are there "bogans - in all the good vehicle accessible camps" in Africa like they are in plague proportions in Australia?

    • @4xoverland

      "plague proportions". Have you even been to Australia? Or are you another South African trying to score points against it? Isn't the Rugby enough for you?

    Just to add my bit I travel extensively in rural / game areas and it sometimes happens that you hit an animal without necessarily being a dick.

    • @4xoverland
      @4xoverland  26 днів тому +3

      Not at sensible speeds. These animals are incredibly agile and do not run towards a vehicle like a roo.

    • @Bubbles12345-cat
      @Bubbles12345-cat 25 днів тому

      Too high a speed is definitely the issue here. He probably saw the little animal beforehand and just hit it regardless. Why speed in these pristine wilderness areas? Could've been under the influence of alcohol as well, most probably 😠🤬
