I'm a Medical student who is currently getting ready to take Step 2 CK/CS and apply for residency. I'm sure you know how stressful this current time in our lives is. I'm not going to lie. I have been pretty down and out as of late from burnout/stress which is de-motivating me to study/work hard. In the ending of this video you basically gave a mini pep talk that I think I REALLY needed to hear. I understand that nobody is going to help you or motivate you but yourself but listening to you kinda of gave me some motivation and a little kick in the ass I needed. So thank you for that! :)
I volunteer at the hospital he attends and I can honestly say this guy is an all star. Extremely approachable when I had any question. Sneaker game is savage, first thing I noticed about him.

I was born disabled and now at 31 I am on a treatment for it. I’ll always be disabled but now I am well enough to work for the first time. I’m trying to find a job but at this age it’s so difficult. This video inspired me to keep trying.
I would like to say you are very motivational ! I’m starting the respiratory therapy program in August and I’m super excited. Seems like it’s been a long journey leading up to this point, but I know it will pay off. I won’t be a doctor but I want to be as happy and excited for my career as you are!
Rising second year here. Thanks for the advice doctor. Its good to hear from a resident on how to navigate the system. It's still crazy to me how I am expected to know exactly what kind of doctor I want to become but the third year. Leaning more towards a procedural heavy field and being on my toes is something I value. Being busy enough that the time flies by is something that I think will keep me engaged in my work.
Dr jamie i’m in the same boat as you were i’m not at the top my class and i have to revise and read things a lot more times for me to cement it in my head but this gives me even more reason to end my journey in medical school because i know that there is light waiting for me at the end of the tunnel .
Incredible story Dr. Jamie. I remember being rejected, and then accepted the following year. Ran into some issues this year and now I have to repeat year 1 of medschool. have you ever thought of being a motivational speaker or doing a ted talk? I feel like you will have a profound effect on people, especially those who are on their long journey to becoming a doctor. Personally im heading into my second year in my undergrad degree as a pre-med, all my other friends are into easier programs so they party every weekend and are dumbfounded by how much i study, so instead of me striving to be better I sometimes say hey my friend doing an english major only studied 2 hours and finished and ive been at it for 5 and am nowhere near done.... that gets me unmotivated although biology and medicine is my passion. Hearing you talk and your mentality towards life and success really does make me fall in love again with my hardworking and dedicated side, so from all of us, Do a ted talk and thank you x
I had a chance to shadow a pulmonary critical care doctor. They encounter some of the most dire cases in medicine. It can be emotionally taxing but it also feels very rewarding to help people who are on the edge of death, from what I observed. Props to these doctors!

I had a chance to shadow a pulmonary critical care doctor. They encounter some of the most dire cases in medicine. It can be emotionally taxing but it also feels very rewarding to help people who are on the edge of death, from what I observed. Props to these doctors!
